Actually, '22s not a bad year to do this if you're a (R). The (D)s are going to be eating a lot of crap in that election (I hope). Don't know if that will be enough to carry a (R) into the Governor's office, but we'll see.

In New England, probably not a great chance it goes to another R, unless the local Dems are as toxic as DC.

And after VA and what Youngkin turned out to be (barely better than a RINO) I'm not sure anyone who isn't nearly a RINO could make it in NE/the East Coast.

Then again, I doubt many people here knew MA had an R gov to begin with, because he doesn't seem to have made any real name recognition or impact outside his state.

I do not think it is a 'safe' Dem pick up, but I won't be at all surprised if they take it.

Youngkin being "barely better than a RINO" is a frankly ridiculous thing to say when he hasn't even been sworn in. Besides, anyone who doesn't adhere to every single part of a GOP platform or wholeheartedly embrace a party's leader is (contrary to what Donald Trump likes to claim) not a RINO or a DINO.

Our political parties are more coalitions of liberal or conservative groups rather than a single amalgam, which is something that seems to elude a lot of people here and on other sites.

As far as Baker goes? Well, I don't live in New England (much less in Massachusetts) so I really don't care and would be more surprised if a Democrat doesn't win. Nor would I regard it as a bellwether in American politics at large.
