In a vacuum perhaps, but considering the fact that they've been putting the president on trial since day one? Nobody is going to take this seriously, because everyone knows why they're doing this; to try and undermine the president.I honestly think that it's a gamble on their end.
Yeah, like Bacle said, it will amp up his base... But Republicans have no problem getting numbers out. They almost never have.
I think they are trying to streach out the process so that it goes just in time for the election so Moscow Mitch* can kill it right before the election.
Impeachment is bad press, doesn't matter the context. Regardless of your opinion of Trump, months of people talking about impeachment on a serious basis rather than pie in the sky hypothetical will effect the opinion of the majority.
And once Moscow Mitch kills it, that will amp up the Democrats. Its a gamble, and a dumb one because someone will try to rush it, or the discussion doesn't go their way.
*Blocking bipartisan support for election security right as a russian aluminum factory opens in his state. Even if he isn't a russian pawn, blocking election security when russian interference was a known factor is insane.

No, it's the accusation itself that nobody takes seriously; the intent behind the accusation however, that of removing him from power by any means necessary, is treated as deadly serious. For Pete's sake; the left cannot even agree on what they're impeaching him for, they just want to impeach him for something, anything. Also, comparing what happened during Obama's tenure to Trump's is downright disingenuous; the scale and intensity just doesn't match in the slightest.I disagree. If the Republicans weren't taking it see seriously, their base wouldn't be getting amped up.
Besides, the Republicans have put Obama on trial in much the same way since his day one to his last. A trial of media shitstorm to undermine the President. That wasn't taken seriously, and it isn't taken seriously for Trump.
But this is an actual thing, not a media shit storm. If somehow magical successful, Trump is out. You can't not take it seriously. Moscow Mitch failing to take it seriously will result in an impeached president.
I'm fairly certain they've been doing this for longer than "since day one" I do remember even before he was sworn in as the president the media was all over smearing him, like calling him having a private family dinner without notifying the press he was having a private family dinner a dangerous sign, and a threat to democracy or something. In a vacuum perhaps, but considering the fact that they've been putting the president on trial since day one? Nobody is going to take this seriously, because everyone knows why they're doing this; to try and undermine the president.
There are sill some similarities though. I honestly thought that the whole russiagate nonsense would be treated like a fringe garbage to be ignored by any sane person, like calling Obama a kenyan muslim was, and die out in a few weeks after appearing, since no rational person could possibly believe it.Also, comparing what happened during Obama's tenure to Trump's is downright disingenuous; the scale and intensity just doesn't match in the slightest.
Funny you should mention that, because the whole Kenyan Muslim conspiracy theory (specifically the birther element) was actually started by supporters of Hillary Clinton, back during the 2008 primaries. I suppose that just goes to show that spreading conspiracy theories has been a part of the Dems' playbook for quite a while. There are sill some similarities though. Oh boy was I disappointed.
Republicans and right wing media were certainly hostile to Barack Obama, but nothing like the sort of all consuming hatred that the left has had for Trump.I disagree. If the Republicans weren't taking it see seriously, their base wouldn't be getting amped up.

The right literally made targets for shooting practice out of Obama's face. It wasn't funny with him, wasn't funny with Travon Martin when they did the same with him. If it was just for personal fun, they wouldn't have advertised it.
Nothing more than rhetoric, a form of rhetoric older than I am. Meanwhile the Left was making movies about the assassination of Donald Trump, publicly calling for his assassination, and on one instance that we know of, attempted to assassinate Trump, along with SECDEF, CNO, and the FIB Director. The gloves are off. A few mopes shooting holes in mere pictures, is nothing in comparison.
At this point, I think this is just how things are going to be from now on. I can only hope we don't end up having two entirely separate and antagonistic governments, trying to govern this country simultaneously. With different executive, legislative, and judicial branches based on which party a particular territory pledges loyalty to; Democrat or Republican.Still intent on impeachment after wasting millions of taxpayer dollars with the Mueller probe?
They have been, but I don't remember assassination attempts on Zerobama.I noticed you conveniently forgot the assassination attempts and threats by conservatives on obama, nor the threats and "2nd amendment solution" comments from Trump during his election.
The gloves have been off for over ten years now bucko.
They have been, but I don't remember assassination attempts on Zerobama.
Honestly, I think they'd prefer him; at least he's a career politician like them, and not an upstart outsider like Trump. Besides; it's not like any of them have any actual principles that they'd disagree with Pence on."So Democrats, why do you want to impeach Donald Trump?"
(Loads of incoherent argle-blargle about Russia! "It was her turn!" and so on...)
"Now let me tell you the reason that you are not actually going to do that."
President Mike Pence.
