a major incident occurred recently which in previous years would have gone atop international headlines but because we've all been gently boiled like the frog in the proverbial pot this huge news story passed virtually unnoticed except in
italy where it has caused significant distress and alarm and suffice to say

north african besieged italian towns around lake garda after traveling from the migrant suburbs of milan brescia and
bergamo they arrived in pesqueera waving the flags of various african countries including morocco and shouted slogans

they organized the event under the slogan africa in pesquiera note the language here this isn't just a boisterous beach party it was a deliberate act of cultural recolonisation
before long the mob exploded into lawlessness robbing tourists brawling with knives and sticks and ransacking local shops and
businesses
they destroyed everything said a business owner speaking with corriere de la serra they broke shop windows stormed the tourist train and blocked passersby on foot or by moped
riot police who showed up were immediately pelted with stones
imagine that you're trying to enjoy a peaceful lakeside vacation and suddenly there are swarms of migrants fighting running battles with riot cops it's gonna ruin your holiday isn't it
as in cologne and as in milan this past new year's eve we also saw numerous sexual assaults of women this in a country where government statistics show migrants are responsible for 42 of all rapes despite only representing 8 of the population 10 teenage girls were sexually assaulted on one train alone and six other girls also reported being molested
we were surrounded the heat was suffocating and some of us fainted said one of the victims
the groups of migrant men groping and molesting the girls told them directly quote
white girls don't come here
the mayor of pesquiera orienta gaiulli said quote

Are the best arguments against open borders the effects on the social safety net (for low-IQ immigrants), cultural incompatibility (especially for Muslim immigrants, but also to some extent for any immigrant group that has high crime rates relative to the natives), and the fact that if current high-IQ countries become too dumpy, then they will become less attractive to future high-IQ immigrants? And of course the effective altruism argument:
Sad that being a doctor in Tanzania is much more important for humanity than being an Uber driver in the San Francisco Bay Area and yet the former pays astronomically less relative to the latter even once cost of living is taken into account.

Africans I disagree with.
With africa below the Sahara you have to remember that their basically squeezing over 2000 years of cultural, religious, economic, technological and scientific progress into a period of a few centuries. A lot of places have gone from Tribal warzones to at least semi functional nation states in a period where actual human beings could live through it.
And this is in some of the worst geography and shittiest conditions in many places on the planet. When you take the long vew of history and I mean centuries worth of view what africa has pulled off is seriously impressive. Yes they have had misteps, yes quite a few of them have serious fuck ups under their belt but what africa has pulled off is actually worthy of respect.
This is essentially a new civilization, and as a whole their all still getting their bearings, things will be rough for them in the near future but I have a lot of hope for them in the long term.
The middle east and the arab world expecially is a disaster.
Right now you have a knife fight between the Turks, Saudis, and Iranians to see who will essentally run the place. And once you have a winner the region is going to pick yet another fight with a west who will at that point probally have completely run out of fucks.
My money on them is that the middle east is going to find out that having some guy with a beard convert you at gun point isnt quite as fun when its happening to you.

My issue is that a whole lot of that progress is still directing funded and subsidized by the West. To the point that Africa lacks basic subsidence level industry. I feel they are in for a sudden collapse with the ongoing world economic problems.

The west, the middle east, Indian, and eastern civilization all went through the same.
Once you get below the Sahara with a few exceptions like Ethopia most of these regions were tribal zones. African civilization is young, really young their going to make mistakes but it took hundreds of years for the west to get where it is and for asia and India. When you view it through that lense its still really impressive.
I personally expect them to go through a european phase where people start creating empires that will destroy tribal idenities to create new imperial ones soon.

While this is true, they have made a fuck load of progress in the last century, and while I expect it to take a couple hundred years for things to shake out it is starting to happen.
I have a question: If the US is or will be oversatured from taking in so many illegal immigrants, is there a realistic chance for the US to successfully pressure non-homicidal Latin American countries to take in large numbers of them? Some countries in South America, for instance, are not that homicidal (well, relative to Mexico and Brazil, at least) and also speak Spanish, thus seeming like they would be good places for Spanish-speaking illegal immigrants who would otherwise want to move to the US, no? :

But they don't migrate to avoid the crime, 99.9% do so to avoid poverty, while Mexico and Brazil are in fact some of richer countries in their area.
These countries wouldn't want them, and they wouldn't want to go there too.

Obviously the US's wealthier economy is why they would prefer to resettle here rather than in, say, Argentina or Chile, though. But Argentina or Chile would still be an improvement in both economic terms and safety terms in comparison to their own home countries. Though if they really want to move to Mexico or Brazil instead, then they should be helped in doing this.
As for these countries not wanting them, well, sometimes a little charity, or Western bribery, might be in order. Really, having the West pay these countries to resettle refugees might not be such a bad deal. It might also be cheaper than resettling them en masse in the West.
