I just saw posts on their mutual social media of Matt Easton/ScholaGladiatoria and Shadiversity and others like Lindybeige hanging out in person together for presumably the first time.

But apparently last night Matt Easton was informed of Shad's bigotry on his second channel and online and decided to cut off all contact with him and take down the posts they had together and then posted a huge essay explaining why he did what he did and literally stating he hopes this appeases anyone offended by his association with Shadiversity.

I don't even think there was any outrage. Matt Easton was always a liberal on politics. I'm sure some online activist mouth breather just contacted him with a collage of screenshots or some shit to inform him. I just didn't realize he was this petty and myopic.

I never liked Easton

I did not know why, but Easton always set my teeth on edge. Now I know why.

Guys like him destroyed a once vibrant and growing subculture and smashed it back. Now all the people in the picture above will be forced to choose sides even if they dont want to.

who cares about the political beliefs of youtubers. I, like most of their viewers, watch these HEMA guys because I enjoy HEMA content

and it Matt Easton is trying to protect his channel or something by disassociating with a "bigot", then by even bringing it up he just attracted many times more attention to it...because I, and likely most viewers, do not know or give a fuck about the political beliefs of HEMA youtubers

for that matter, many people are just tired of politics seeping its way into everything. including internet forums; a decade ago politcal conversation was miniscule; only a small subsection of the daily subject matter of most general topic forums. nowadays it's like everything has to be political...to the point where i have seen entire internet communities of long time friends, fractured over political tensions...

piece of advice HEMA content creators: don't be like some of the major professinal sports leagues in the western world that becamse overly politicized and lost a lot of their viewer base because of it. like sports, people watch HEMA content because they don't want to think about all the political bullshit of the modern world...
 
the correct move was not to comment on it at all and move on. by saying you apologize you give the mob power over you. this has been going on long enough that anyone online should understand it. I can therefore only conclude that this represents his true views. very sad. haven't watched much of his content. probably won't watch more of it.
