Has there been much progress made in the reduction of government's size in the US?

Or perhaps influence or involvement in the day to day life of the average US citizen. It's not something I can accurately quantify, at least not on my own.

There's been plenty of progress, in the opposite direction.
Yeah and if your on foodstamps or anything like prepare to be at their offices once or twice a week and if your on disability you have give a receipt on on all your purchases(this could be wrong) as I know this from second hand knowledge from at least three of my RL friends

I haven't heard anything about that, and I'm on both.

The thing is, you can't. As the complexity of the world increases, so must government size. Then there is the fact that corporations are trying their Gilded Age shenanigans again, and that requires a large government to combat them.

... so you must have a big government in order to function in this incredibly complex world. If you want something less complex, go join an iron age/bronze age village reenactment somewhere and tell me how that turns out for you.

The problem with that is that big corperation's are able to afford a team of lawyers to snake themselves through any regulation you pass, that agency capture is a thing that regularly happens when an industry gets to manipulate the agency in charge of regulating them for their own benfit.
