Gun Political Issues Megathread. (Control for or Against?)

It's cool man, I haven't even got anything to argue, there isn't contention, I wasn't even defending the reporters opinions. I was having ago at the politician because she shit talked my country, and I think anyone here would do the same.

But nah, not thrilled with the hostility. This is what we tried to stop on SB and frankly what I threw away twenty fucking years of rep to stand with. I could have been a fucking admin by now :p Instead I'm getting shat on for stuff I didn't even say by the people I actually tried to defend.

So yeah, done. It has taken a while but I get Zoe now. It was personal for her but not for me, now though it is personal.
I wouldn't defend my own country. I honestly despise what we've become; and from the outside looking in, I cannot understand why you don't despise what your country has become as well.

As for the hostility; I think it's uncalled for, but I understand it. People are on edge; everything feels like it's going to come crashing down around us any moment, and they overreact to things that they'd otherwise be able to take in stride. We're all looking for enemies under every rock, and behind every tree stump; and I think we all need to take a deep breath, and remind ourselves that despite our disagreements, we're all human beings in the end, not just text on a computer monitor.

We have to give each other the benefit of the doubt, forgive each other's faults and mistakes, and acknowledge when we're wrong about something; instead of doubling down out of pride, and lashing out at people who would otherwise be our friends (or at the very least, those who don't actively want us dead or enslaved).

No, the only person triggered here is you Bacle, cool down. Seriously, not everyone is your enemy. Yes, wording can be confusing because speech is clearer than text, but still, don't assume bad intentions.
It wasn't just me, other people threw shade about that post.

I just happened to be the one to actually say anything in detail, and the only one to actually try to explain to Harlock why the hostility/shade was there.

Maybe I jumped in assuming ill-intent, not miscommunication, because of the larger context today.

I've been seeing the Leftists ree'ing and yelling about the SCOTUS ruling since it came out, and the timing of Harlock shitting on MTG for a clip that involved a foreign reporter and 2A issues...it felt like another fucking Euro trying to throw shade over US 2A issues and throw shade at MTG for daring to be fed up with similar things.

And you are right, I might be getting quick to assume people are enemies who just happen to have been a friend or someone I liked once, because I keep feeling like many have turned against me because I won't parrot every line of conservative cope and dare to call out how the GOP looks from the outside.

"because police are about as useful as a lump of shit these days"

Does Uvalde, Texas ring a bell?

I'm in favor of massive police reform. Municipal police departments aren't accountable to the people. They're strictly controlled by the City council, but mainly the Mayor. Abolish this in favor of Sherriff departments. Sheriffs are answerable to the people and will be voted out if they are not happy. Its not a perfect idea, but much better than we have now.

because you guys have a brainless pedo in charge.

only 2 years ago, the border was good and shut.

I know. But that wasn't my point. As a country, how does it make us look? Pretty bad. But then everything Joey Bag of Donuts touches turns to shit. Doesn't matter, because WE still look bad regardless. Lets not split hairs here.

hahaha.

I stand minorly corrected. Their problem, such as it is, is still more manageable than the human tsunami waves crashing over our border on a regular basis.

This right here. Keep trying to look in that mirror without your blinders. It'll help you keep the friends you have as well as your allies. It ain't easy, but keep trying.

The guy's not wrong that Bush's bullshit in Iraq is what caused England to be flooded by rapists and cannibals. I would also point out however in fairness that if the stupid ass German government and Frogs and treacherous English glowies (who again to be fair were collaborating with America's equally disloyal glowies) kept egging the Neocon in chief on so they could get free oil which would never come in one of the dumbest and most convoluted big brain schemes of the last 50 years. We probably wouldn't have gone in.

Tldr: the whole of the west was fucked up the behind by its institutional elite and its bureaucratic class who were working in collusion with the largest banks on earth who are all owned by China.

Fighting amongst ourselves when we have an asiatic Dragon to slay and international jackals to yeet is silly.

To be fair the English haven't been a majority in their own country since the Death of Edward the confessor and they've been ruled by foreign devils/usurpers with only one or two interruptions for the bulk of the last millennium.

The Muslims are just another group coming to marginalize Britons and Angelos. And they have, to their credit; survived every attempt at destruction.

It's just super bad now because a large segment of brits got duped into hating themselves.

I try to look in the mirror and be real about how I feel, but you are mistaken if you think my aim is to 'keep friends' more than say what I know and feel about situations. I'm past the point in my life where I care how many friends I have, versus the quality of them.

I prefer honest and open animosity and dealing with conflicts upfront, and clearing them up upfront, over trying to hide them to maintain 'friendships'. I've seen and felt the results of doing that, and I'm not interested in more of it in my life.

I won't deny when I see I've made a mistake, but I'm not going to avoid what I think is reasonable and justified hostility to maintain any friendship. If they are a real friend, we will work through whatever caused it; if they aren't, won't, simple as.

The desire to avoid conflict among 'friends' is admirable, but it's also part of why we just had 14 RINO's vote to gut the 2nd Amendment.

I didn't say what I did to somehow insinuate that you have to keep friends over your principals principle (grrr...). Show me someone that asks you to make that choice, and I'll show you someone that's not your friend.

Except that has happened multiple times, even with freaking mods here, where people implied their view of me and relationship to me should matter more than the facts or views contained in what I was saying.

I mean bluntly, I've been rather close to where I guess Harlock is now in terms of this site because of how not parroting conservative cope, or daring to say how the GOP looks from the outside, has been received and the insults I've got for it.

I started even posting with/talking with Right Wing folks on SB to help them fight against the Left more effectively years ago, to help them do better against their foes when I realized the Dems were going insane, and I've realize the leadership and old base of Right doesn't want to change their playbooks or tactics at all, they just want to cope harder when the Dems decide not to play by the rules or act in good faith. I burned most of my old social circle and a lot of family good will to do that, to come out for Trump and for the sanity the Right represented, to try to fight the good fight, and in the long run it's only made me more miserable, cynical, and convinced that I am fighting a futile battle with comrades who don't want to understand the game has changed or think that personal connections/friendships should matter more to me than what I know.

The Left have their own propaganda about things like the 2A only covering muskets, but the Right has a lot of propaganda about it's own past and platform, and I know for a fact most of the Right has no desire to do self-reflection about this if it might mean admitting the Left or libertarians have a point once in a while.

I will apologize to @Harlock for misreading what his intent was, and admit maybe I've become rather unwilling to give people the benefit of the doubt much anymore because of how little good will I feel when it comes to politics these days.

Look, there was just a huge win. Take a breather, and enjoy it. There is time for fighting and arguing, but there is a real necessity for taking the time to just celebrate and be happy. Whitepills matter, and this is a big one.

Honestly, I think the real problem with non-Americans trying to comment on American gun issues is the fact that they're at the end of a really long game of telephone that's based entirely on the biased reporting by mainstream corporate media.

As Americans, pro-2nd Amendment folks already have an uphill battle trying to educate people about how the media is lumping in completely disparate problems (suicide, gang warfare, school shootings, etc...) and completely full of shit about the technical elements of guns (like the arbitrary term "assault weapons"). It's been a long, fairly fruitless battle that we're only starting to turn the tide in because progressive policies are pushing more people into buying guns and educating themselves.

So all the pro-2A folks, who already have little to no patience with the media's bullshit being parroted by unthinking liberals, come down hard on Europeans who show they haven't even tried to look beyond the media talking points.

That said, the best way to handle that is to just point them to these websites/YouTube channels and encourage them to get educated:
