So, some officers of the San Jose PD appear to have seriously fucked up:

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Derrick Sanderlin has spent years training new police recruits in San Jose, California, how to avoid implicit bias toward minorities.
Sanderlin, 27, was left questioning the success of that work May 29 when he was shot with rubber bullets as officers squared off with protesters angry over the killing days earlier of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers. Protests against police brutality have broken out across the U.S. and in several other countries in the wake of Floyd’s death, which led to the firing of and criminal charges against four officers, including a murder charge for former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin.
Sanderlin required emergency surgery for a ruptured testicle, according to ABC7, which had reporters on the ground and in the air overhead during the protests, which turned violent.

I don't subscribe to the "all cops are bastards" mindset, but I do believe that there needs to be a comprehensive effort at reform across the nation, and the events of these past weeks have only reinforced that belief. What form that reform will take, I don't know enough to say; I just know that the current state of things is simply unacceptable.

I don't subscribe to the "all cops are bastards" mindset, but I do believe that there needs to be a comprehensive effort at reform across the nation, and the events of these past weeks have only reinforced that belief. What form that reform will take, I don't know enough to say; I just know that the current state of things is simply unacceptable.

I imagine honestly having someone explain to you in seminars, “you see officer you have a subconscious fear of black people, so when dealing with black criminals-you need to be more empathetic and not rely on your gut instinct which is basically racist”.

Not that what happened is right, but I can understand how that would frustrate a cop having to endure it.

Seriously? The founders statues, really? What's next? Striping their names from the DOI and Constitution? because they apparently weren't prefect Gods among men?

Both owned slaves yes, but Jefferson outlawed the transatlantic slave trade and despite what their critics may say neither were in any position to free the slaves before or after the revolution it was political suicide even in the era where it was seemingly dying and that was with both's immense popularity.

Yes, Jefferson had a relationship with a slave and had children with her, but we are unsure what the exact nature of this relationship as neither is around to talk so using it as a cudgel against him isn't entirely a fair thing to do and yes he didn't free his slave children while he was alive, but we aren't sure of his reasoning behind that decision either.

In all respects even bringing up defiling these two's names by bringing up this to slander them is despicable

Police arrived at the home of Madeline Odent in Hertfordshire today, but got no answer after knocking at her door. Statues have been targeted during Black Lives Matter protests.

At the moment the U.S. is at a critical crossroads of no return as far as culture, politics and most importantly economics are concerned and like it or not, that's driving political forces for good or ill to desperately use any tactic's available to seize power in the federal government to implement a top down strategy to guild the nation in whatever they view as the 'right direction'.

In the end remember that this is happening not because African Americans are some hive-mind that all universally want or believe in this stuff that's going on.
