Everyone needs to calm down. This is a riot, not an insurrection. There are no demands and there is no organization. There is no "leader" to all of this and there can never be one. The lives lost and property damaged is a sign of how these hooligans are, but acting like this is the formentation to some civil war goes way too far.

I will say that it is interesting watching the left no longer give a shit about COVID. My landlady, who doesn't pay attention to politics but voted Sanders in the last primary, is pissed at them right now.

Thankfully Antifa and these looters are too undisciplined and stupid to actually conduct an insurrection.

Then again, they have made what appears to be a more concentrated effort to attack police.

Which while not insurrectionary in itself, may be potentially pre insurrectionary behavior. If things continue to get worse.

Varying degrees of organization, even then the Far Left has its roots everywhere and never really runs out or useful idiots who will do things on their own initiative

I know it sounds rude or insensitive, but all this stuff is making me think of the backstory of Starship Troopers in which people were so extremely permissive towards letting kids getting barely a slap on the wrist that they no longer feared authorities or anyone else for that matter

If the government refuses to send in proper force, then I think people will form vigilante groups to stop it

Thing is-with direction and organization an unorganized riot can take on insurrectionary characteristics, for example seeking to secure control of the state, attacking institutions of state power(for example driving off the police entirely), street barricades, and home made weaponry, as well as attacking offices of government in a manner designed to assail or at least intimidate elected officials and government personnel.

In essence-insurrections try to challenge the state.

These riots strike me as not being disciplined enough or coordinated enough for that. At most government buildings and police vehicles and personnel are attacked but not in a systematic or thought out manner.

Or more simply a insurrection asks “how do we defeat the cops and drive them out of our city”, a common riot just says “fuck the police”.
