Wait, wait, what's this about Yu being a "closet Tok'ra"? Because he just shares their principle of sharing a body instead of dominating it?
In the Stargate Novel "Four Dragons" Daniel Jackson learns that Yu has been sharing his body with his host, the original King Yu of China, since he first came to Earth

Honestly I am not all that into Tokrah either.
Well yeah they are icky snake worm things. Which is a shame since Ancient Egyptian style is very sexy we don’t get enough love for pyramids. It’s a shame the Gould were evil and stupid. Though hataks look good.

Yes. also even if they share, it means you have less authority over your own body than you did before.
Plus their white knighting. It is like seeing a vegetarian vampire, just weird.
... actually in retrospect, vegetarian human works too.

IIRC the Ori, once ascended, declared "gods did not use to exist, but now that we used secular technology to ascend to energy beings of higher dimension it means we are literally Gods now. and must be worshipped as such"

AFAIK the atheists ascended went "we must not interfere with the lesser races. let them live out as they would".
in practice it meant they backstabbed their allies who were nearly on par with them, they also left behind the stargate network and a bunch of tech. that the Gould found and used to conquer the galaxy.

basically, NEITHER the ancients NOR the Ori are good. they are both bad but different shades of bad.

The Ancients are basically USA Democrat Politicians. Militant Atheists who make everything worse.

The Ori are an alliance of:
1. Atheists who rule a nation of muslim Jihadists
2. true believers who believe themselves to be the reincarnation of Muhammad, destined to conquer the world for their own personal benefit.
Both wanting to convert the entire universe.

Ori and Ancients are both very bad.

Pretty accurate. That and as mentioned, they deliberately kept the vast majority of their population confined to a mid-ages level of technology.

In short, as I said in another thread, the Ori are Middle Ages Christianity viewed through a pop culture and Hollywood understanding. Probably with a bit of Islam unknowing thrown in.

In short, Ori and Ancients both suck.

Individual Tok'ra were interesting but as a civilization they were pretty meh when it came to interesting. Plus Selmak/Jacob Carter and Martouf were neat characters.

But Martoufs life was kinda thrown away in some episode and the last really interesting storyline was the friction between the Tok'ra and the Free Jaffa. They were kinda just there towards the end, even in the Stargate Continuum movie.

Conversely the Tollans had some interesting things to them (dead) and WW2 Tech era Kelowna could've been interesting to explore (but wasn't) and the Asgard at the top of the interesting allies ladder who were just perpetually cool.

Oh and you had the Nox who remained disappeared it seems
