"The Skeleton who failed to Defend the Dungeon"

The title sucks but it's a surprisingly good manwha, Basically follows a skeleton who keeps ressurecting when he dies. He ends up going on all sorts of crazy adventures and goes through some Guts tier suffering.

Indeed. But,they overdid it.Becouse plot is so well hidden, that after 229 chapters i still do not knew who is puppetter acting behind gods and demons.
And,if entire world is real,or it is game and poor Skeleton in NPC trying to save one of his mistress/and failing every time/
Here,229 chapter, where we still knew little about what is really going on:

But,it is well done aside from that.

Another good manga - Tsuki ga Michibiku
Here:

Another manga with slow pace of action - MC get dragooned to other world by goddess, rejected, and must try to survive.
But,thanks to powers he get he is doing very well.
In 83 chapter he arleady created his own country from weaker demihuman races, and try not be part of human/Demons war.
And get 2 powerfull female allies.Spider and dragoness, both turned into cute girls of course.

According to what i read, about 300 chapter they eventually get married - would two girls count as harem? if so,it is harem story.

But,well made.They turned it into anime,too,but i never watched it,only anime.

Dereccing this one, at least by the time they reach the usual not!Japan area. I dropped the LN by that time as the the two other summoned heroes lived for far past the point in the plot where they would still be considered interesting antagonists, plus MC was developing to be real boring, as in in "Isekai Smartphone MC" boring, along with some other nonsense going on Earthside.

Koreans fantasy manwhas tend to be better than most newer Japanese stuff imo. There was one good manga with excellent art that got cancelled because the Japanese have shit tier taste. It was called "The Wolf Won't Sleep" it was technically an isekai but not really since the mc was a seasoned adventurer from a fantasy world that got isekaied to another fantasy world with a different magic system.

Been thinking about SSSS.Dynazenon (and by extension, SSSS.Gridman and pretty much all of Studio Trigger's output) lately, thanks to the Gridman Universe film that came out a little while ago, and I believe I've finally solidified my opinion of it. Trigger has this habit of using high-concept action sequences as elaborate metaphors for teenaged angst, that usually ends up undermining whatever enjoyment I manage to glean from them; and I've gotten to the point where I've grown sick of it. SSSS.Dynazenon is not a bad anime by any stretch of the imagination; but all the same, I despise pretty much everything about it. From the characters, to the setting, to the plot; none of it works for me, and it's far from the only work Trigger has produced that's true of.

I think I'm done watching anything made by Studio Trigger from here on out.

Why are so many "male" characters so effeminate looking in Japanese stuff nowadays? Seeing a girly boy causes me to automatically quit reading something and it's so increasingly prevalent but why is this the case?

A diet of rice doesn't really help you bulk up methinks.

And your average teen in japan probably lacks the time to go to the gym after 12 extra hours of cram school.

It's like that in shit that isn't even intended for teen audiences. Regardless this wasn't ever a thing pre 2010 it's kind of annoying.

For one, it's a different culture with a different taste in aesthetics. Also, tastes change over time, just like how steroid hulks like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were in vogue decades ago, but not any longer.

Another factor is that many anime is set during school, so the characters are usually teenagers, so they look like teenagers. I'm guessing Japanese salarymen don't want to come home from a long day of work and sit down and watch a show about another old, dreary salaryman. I've heard that school years are often the Japanese's fondest memories.

Creative cannibalism and genre stagnation could also be a factor. You hear old creators like Hayao Miyazaki complaining about how the old anime talent didn't grow up with anime and brought different influences with them, but have been replaced by younger staff who grew up watching anime and just want to make more of the same. There is also the anime studio A-1 pictures, who produce the bulk of anime today and are noted for having a samey style. However, this might be a little unfair, as anime industry is also far more commercialized than it was back in Miyazaki's day. Miyazaki and his peers created anime during a time of great prosperity in Japan and when there wasn't anywhere near as much corporate control over anime. Since then the economy tanked (people have less disposable income to spend on anime) and there has been a decrease in the number of teenagers, ie potential customers. The industry has shifted to trying to mitigate as much risk as possible by adhering to what is proven to work and by having multiple companies fund an anime, so even if creators want to break from the norm, they probably can't.

Suzume - 7/10 (Good)

It was enjoyable enough that I didn't go to the bathroom once, so it's good. English dub is good.

I was debating whether or not to give this a 6/10 (fine). The movie is more of the same. Same formula as Your Name and Weathering With You (teenager runs away from home to investigate supernatural stuff, roadtrip with friends, etc), doesn't bring anything new to the table. It feels a little more derivative in that now Shinkai is rehashing aspects of his earlier movies, such as the high school student x teacher romance from Garden of Words or alien otherworlds from 5 Centimeters Per Second. I liked the movie but hope that Shinkai's next movie is more original. Please don't be Your Name 4.0.

The first 2/3rds of the movie were enjoyable. The chair was easily the best part. Once they hopped into the convertible the movie began losing steam for me. I think it's because of the lack of tension. The movie had been making the cat out to be an antagonist, but then turns the cat into just a quirky sidekick, so you have like 10-20 minutes where nothing is really happening and the only antagonist left is the worm, who isn't really a character.

The girl crying out that she loves Suota doesn't feel natural, given that they had only known each other for maybe 3 or 4 days. Prior Shinkai films had timeskip montages where the couple got closer together over months or years. The drama with the aunt felt dumb. The hamfisted message of "things might be bad now but ofcourse they will get better later!" was rather flimsy and cringeworthy.

The movie feels like it went through a few rewrites, though. Specifically, the narrative kept changing what it was implying the cat was. Why did the cat god want to become Suzume's house cat specifically? I thought that maybe the cat would have turned out to be Suzume's missing mom, but it seems like the cat god just wanted to become Suzume's pet for no reason. Later on, the movie seems to imply that the cat was also a person who had turned into a keystone, and wanted out and was pawning off the responsibility onto Suota. Grandpa personally knowing the big black cat made me think that perhaps that the cat was a closer that grandpa knew earlier in his life. But then the movie says that the the two cats are gods responsible for guarding the worm, so why did the cat turn Suota into a chair in the first place? Suota wouldn't be able to better guard against the worm than the cats. The movie also sets up a subplot with the aunt and her coworkers, but the coworker never shows up again after the halfway point, not even in the end credits sequence.

The soundtrack was underwhelming. Felt a little generically Hollywood at points with the pounding during the Worm scenes.

Overall I didn't enjoy it as much as Weathering With You, but it was better than Your Name.

Recommended.

I’ve been reading Delicious in Dungeon, and I’m loving it.

It’s a comedic cooking manga, but with a twist. In a setting where adventurers go dungeon-diving like they’re playing D&D, the protags are playing friggin’ Monster Hunter instead, literally turning every damn critter in the dungeon into cuisine and/or clothes.

It's a fairly good story and the worldbuilding is fun too. It's kind of strange that no one considered eating things like the mushrooms, but I guess that's for the sake of the story.

That one was kind of trash imo. Like mc is instantly overpowered for no reason and just fucks off in a wasteland and doesn't ever actually do anything interesting. Oh also it has harem which is an auto blacklist for me.

Senshi is my favorite character in just about anything I've read lately. Just the idea of this dwarf who's like, a dungeon gourmand and lives in the dungeon like a happy murderhobo, autistically hyperfocused on cooking fine cuisine out of monster meat... it warms my cold, black heart. He's fucking adorable. Apparently, someone else felt the same way, since they modeled and rendered him in Blender:

This is the guy you want in your party, no doubt about it. When you're all starving and the hardtack and jerky runs out, he comes in clutch.

There's also a friggin' STUDIO FRIGGIN' TRIGGER ADAPTATION on the way. I am hyped.

Anybody watching Birdie Wing? It's an anime funded by a Japanese golf club, and they let the anime writers do whatever, so it's got shit like the mafia having secret underground tournaments, assassinations, and tons of Gundam references/jokes. All of that is mixed in with LPGA stuff that is tangentially connected via one of the main characters.

It's fucking hilarious.

2 female monsters do not count as harem. And,when shit goddess rule there, hiding in wasteland is right decision.

Indeed.Best friend ever.
But,considering story,i still wonder, who could be counted as good guy there - Lion demon,or canaries fighting him.
Well, they all were sexy,so maybe them?
