Alternatively Brazil's president got into a needless spat with a neighbour offering assistance, and plunged public opinion further down the toilet of his country, which was already pretty low when their freaking national museum burned down.
Oh, I don't think either side sees the spat as a needless one. It serves both sides pretty well.
As for the national museum fire, not one thing the current President could have done about it, it was before his election. BTW, the guy who was at fault(the Director of the Rio de Janeiro Federal University, responsible for administrating the Museum; the National Museum fire was the third fire involving buildings under his responsibility of his tenure) is part of the same group of people who started the whole Pray for the Amazon thing. I understand that people outside Brazil wouldn't be aware of those things, and maybe won't even care, but still...
