I'm more amazed I didn't hear about giant forest fires in Brazil only three weeks after the fact. I'm not a news junkie but I read the newspaper semi regularly and watch bits of network morning and evening news here and there but it wasn't until a few days ago that I heard about these fires and that came from a YouTube news clip. :D

Damn it Macron....
What is he even doing? I don’t even understand anymore *sigh*

I can sympathize with you. Our leader is an idiot too and an utter embarrassment. Though, I don't think Trudeau has sparked such massive riots/protests...

It’s not even that, well, yes it kind of is, but the real thing that annoy me here is his threat about the Trade deal with MERCOSUR.
You see, in a general manners, we absolutely HATED that trade deal, our farmers hated it because of unfair competition, a lot of middle-class and working class hated because of health reasons/food quality AND because it hurt our farmers and of course green hated it because Brazil.
We railed against this when it passed parliament, we protested, we signed petition we contacted our local MP...nothing, barely a comment.
Then, in a fit of seeming anger, he threaten to rip the trade deal because of Climat?
What the fuck are we even to you Macron?

Radical populism ultimately leads to nothingness, rather quicker in the form of Macron than others. France is nothing if She is not the First Daughter of the Church, the only solution is Le Pen and, if the Almighty is merciful on your souls, the House of Bourbon.

You mean the despots who in part created the conditions necessary for the French revolution to begin? Nah, I'd rather have the House of Bonaparte. Or better yet, a proper and virtuous commonwealth, led by suitable men and women elected by the people at large.

Since this is a digression, I should really bring this back to the point. But really, I thought Brazil was doing something about it? If they weren't why would Trudeau actually do something constructive and offer/send our own water bombers to help?

The men and women of the Vendée did not fight and die for a despot, Sir. Trust their vision of their rightful and true and Catholic King.

I wish, but currently our political class have a pretty tight grasp on power, the Gerrymandering is insane, and if the yellow vest protest didn’t get him out, I don’t know what will.
The Republic has legal lever to expulse anyone getting close to the throne of France, unfortunately.

Ah, Vendée is part of those things that don’t get taught in school, I wonder why.

Are not absolute rulers despots by nature and definition? And to be more honest, I tend to view the words "tyrant" and "despot" more neutrally, since they both have original meanings that still apply. A tyrant by the original and still equally valid definition, is merely someone who seized power, and was not elected, appointed, or had inherited it. Nothing is to say that a tyrant cannot be benevolent, or a just ruler. I am using despot more in the older sense too, perhaps coloured by the modern understanding. Though would it be fair to say, the French monarchy was absolute and that I disapprove of absolute monarchies on moral grounds? Or would you contest my assertion that it was indeed absolute?

Anyways, we probably should get back to the actual topic (reason why I edited this in). I am sure we can agree that Macron is a vicious (in the sense of vice) craven and dull minded individual. And that this debacle at the G7 is more proof of his ill character. If you want we can make a thread elsewhere and discuss this.

The only road to the restoration of Christian France is through Le Pen first, I think that's quite obvious. You'd have to spend decades teaching the Vendée and circumstances would have to drastically change socially -- and that means Le Pen. I remember the singing of the hymns as Notre Dame burned and wondering if it might be a beginning of a restoration of some of Old France, a restoration of soul and spirit. If it is, then it might be a worthy sacrifice.

@Hlaalu Agent, yes, you're right, this is a derail, I'll start another thread.

Thank you, and I'll try to actually keep on thinking so that I can have productive debate.

So would discussing how this a poor show of character by Macron be on topic? Perhaps how unstatesmanlike it actually is? An utter frittering away of French political capital, and perhaps even unproductive?

Meanwhile Trudeau just wants to noticed.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
The European elite appealing to us to taken our own freedoms away? How predictable.
That's why I know it wouldn't work. Says so here. Your founding fathers spent blood to get that in the writing.

Found some other interesting stuff too.

If the translation is true, Macron got schooled to look after his backyard first before poking his nose at other people's business especially when he has his own fire to deal with which was the recent church fire so yeah quite a burn.

Alternatively Brazil's president got into a needless spat with a neighbour offering assistance, and plunged public opinion further down the toilet of his country, which was already pretty low when their freaking national museum burned down.

Trudeau himself, if you believe rumors that he is capable of making such decisions as what to wear and what to eat.
