Knowing Russian maintenance abilities, whatever the Soviets did build has probably been extremely poorly maintained, if not completely abandoned.

The Russians literally left an entire multimillion dollar spaceship abandoned in a hangar in the middle of nowhere for decades.

True, but I don't know about you, but the way they freaked out about it being found and the alleged bloodstained mattresses I'm hearing about is deeply suspicious.

I also heard something about the tunnel being walled off/filled in awfully quickly without any further forensic investigation- haven't managed to dig any further into that to know if its true.

??? They weren't happy it was discovered. They were attacking police officers (a crime last time I checked) and had to be pepper sprayed to keep away from the people investigating.

From what I was reading is the group that dug the tunnels dug the tunnel TO the synagogue and were the ones fighting the police.
