um yeah I grew up in the barrio lived in the ghetto, and lived in trailier parks. This is a case of to dumb to live the guy was warned not to say it again. And any one who lived in a community where violence happens knows that said warning was a way to defuse things. Letting it go was the smart thing to do.
Guy wasn't smart and it cost him his life. I really don't have any pity here.

...Going to have to disagree with you here.
This is a clear-cut case of homicide. It is never moral to kill someone for saying mean words, then get sentenced to house arrest. This man should be doing hard time. I could see maybe a somewhat reduced sentence, since this was a freak 'it shouldn't have taken so little to injure him fatally,' but he should still be doing prison time.
Because he killed someone.
And while there's a host of things that Whitestrake is wrong about, he is absolutely right in his implied point that if this was a white man killing a black man for using nasty words, there's no way in hell he would have gotten off so easy.
Fair point but Florida's concept of self defense and what counts as justified homicide is rather broad.
See the popcorn case for a more recent example and in the same area if memory serves (mind ye that dude absolutely deserved to be shot for assaulting a grandpa.) So this dude piping off in a shithole neighborhood then getting pasted as a result was probably met with a surface area take on it.
Ie Judges logic probably consisted of what I said above "talk shit, get hit" and there was nothing deeper than that.
I'd agree if that had happened in like Kendall or Brickell or Coral Gables or a nicer area of Tampa (and then we'd all be talking about how the Cuban community lynched an activist Judge, as opposed to the anti white racism of said dangling Judge.) But I doubt this got more than a surface consideration.

Of course it's a racial thing. "N-word" privilege is a one way street, as are murder statistics in general.
If this is how it's gonna be, white men who want justice will need an alternative to the American judicial system. A man is dead and the piece of shit who did it got a slap on the wrist.
Without knowing anything about the case or the victim I'm going to assume the victim was probably a casual asshole to every service and retail worker in his life for transgressions both real and imagined. Imagine spending literal decades being so bitter and triggered and angry while secretly screaming for help and when one brave Dunkin employee offers him help, he's too weak to accept it. 
Don't like the service, go somewhere else. What a simple solution.
I love stories like these where perpetual assholes end up aggravating the wrong person and end up getting manslaughtered. I'm not judging the victim, this is all just pure gut level instinct. The only stories more amusing then these are the ones where two assholes suddenly butt heads like that Theater shooting story (though I think the shooter in that one managed to get acquitted after trial).
The only privilege here is he probably spend decades calling people slurs and insults for minor shit and no one helped correct him until now and then it was an overcorrection. The sentence seems reasonable to me. Working at a Dunkin at that location is apparently punishment already.

While there's no reason to assume that the Dunkin employees knew of the Victims background or that it justifies what happened to the victim, I'm totally sure he was a well adjusted and respectful citizen up to this point.

A Sixty Two Year Old Man was arrested on a drug bust and turned out to be grooming and fucking boys and his house was like grooming and rape central for luring children from nearby schools to hang out, read comic books, do drugs and get raped by a Man several times their age as he recorded and distributed the content!
What's really infuriating is he was only sentenced to five years for multiple counts of being a child predator. And he apparently only served three years.

I am wondering if this guy was drunk or high, or both.
But the Dunkin employee probably should have called the cops, or if he was that much stronger - physically ejected the asshole out of the establishment.
There is also a lot of nuance we are not seeing here, was the customer physically threatening the Dunkin employee or disrupting the business in other ways and what were the employee's reactions.
IMO the black guy might not be 100% blameless here.
