Eh, I have no real reason to treat the CIAs as any sort of good people. Afganistan from my understanding is partially their project. Them trying to save their people from their fuck up is the bare minimum of loyalty from an organization, and they seem to mostly be failing the bare minimum.

No. You could blame Iraq on shitty intel and lies and thus the CIA, but not really Afghanistan. Afghanistan was a fine war to start, if people hadn't had such hubris about what was doable. What was doable? Finding and killing those who did 9/11, and droning the shit out of Al-Qaeda so they couldn't reform. Nation building, conquering, or even nation changing, isn't viable. At most, one could The few victories (see: Osama dying) were CIA caused. The CIA found and located Bin Laden at Tora Bora, but higherups, stupid trust in Afghans, and also being prevented by actual allies (NATO) from dropping land mines prevented his capture or death.

The CIA is 100% wrong for Guantanamo and other black sites, but they were pretty effective at actually finding and killing terrorists that mattered and shattering AQ's infrastructure.

The problem with Afghanistan was with high strategy outside of the CIA's purview. First, defining victory as anything other than fucking up Al-Qaeda (not eliminating them, just constantly killing their leaders). Second, treating Pakistan as an ally and not a hostile power that was next door, which it absolutely was. Third, the entire Iraq war (which the CIA specifically discouraged, saying documents that said Iraq had nukes were BS and noting that the entire American intelligence community believed that Iraq wasn't harboring AQ).

The blaming on the intel community is a great way for Bush & cronies to stop getting all the blame, which they deserve.

They use them to finance assets if they need to, and they sometimes attack drug gangs in the Americas because those are basically paramilitary groups that are nearly governments, but they don't care about the drugs themselves, just the money (although some of their assets definitely care, as they want to make money on the side). So I don't see them caring much about Afghanistan heroin except that it was used to fund other stuff.
