Put it into the context of literally everything else about this guy and what he's said. Put it alongside the comments it just came out he made. Unless you also think the patriots at the capitol on Jan 6th were exactly the same as the US government's opponents in WW2? If he's spreading the idea that Trump supporters, Proud Boys, and people who've made boogaloo jokes are the same people as the US government declared war on in WW2, what does that belief imply about how they should be treated and what the military should do against them?
This is the problem with you. Whenever there's an issue in the military or with the spooks you downplay it, argue that it's not a big deal, and then only when it's the most blatant and indefensible do you admit there's an issue... with the one person most involved and nobody around them. And then no matter how many times issues like this are raised, it's still back to square one the next time the issue is raised, with zero knowledge or understanding carried over from the last time.
