Major Liberal City Set to Discipline Students Based on Their Race and Gender Identity for 'Restorative Justice'

An agreement that ends a Portland, Oregon, teachers strike includes a sweeping call to provide "restorative justice" to students who tick the right boxes.

The strike was resolved late last month, according to CNN.

In the past, middle school and high school students could be suspended for at least five days in case of the most serious incidents of physical harm or threats of violence, according to KGW-TV in Portland.

Now, a team of staff psychologists, counselors and social workers will become involved, with more staff assigned as needed.

The district said it wanted to solve the problem that non-white students were suspended too often, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.

"Black, Native American, and other students of color are referred out of class significantly more often," the district's Collective Bargaining Team said in a letter to families last month.

"Students receiving special education services also bear the burden of disproportionate discipline. This 'discipline' is far from the root of the term 'discipline': to instruct, train, and educate," the letter said.

The new collective bargaining agreement requires that when a student exhibits "continuous disruptive behavior," a "support plan" must be developed that can go as far as detention.

The mix of factors to consider to develop just the right approach includes "the impact of issues related to the student's trauma, race, gender identity/presentation, sexual orientation … and restorative justice as appropriate for the student."

Mandatory suspensions are out. They are replaced with the potential removal from class but not the school.

"The District and Association are committed to an approach for student conduct and discipline that aligns with the PPS Vision and utilizes research used in Racial Equity and Social Justice, Restorative Justice and Trauma Informed to minimize the use of exclusionary discipline and to maximize instructional time while repairing harm done within the school community," the agreement said.

"Student behavior is a communication of unmet needs and makes sense when put in context. The disciplinary response process should be aimed at meeting these needs and create an environment that helps students find new ways to meet their needs," it said.

The agreement said that escalating violence or serious violent incidents could still result in removal from school

Michele Exner, senior adviser for Parents Defending Education, called the discipline policy "absurd."

"These policies are wrong, counterproductive, and will only feed into the divisive climate we are seeing across academic institutions," Exner told The Washington Free Beacon.

Portland was developing a "restorative justice" pilot program at the time the pandemic hit.

"The goal of restorative justice, on the school level, is to look at the effectiveness of restorative justice in addressing the disproportionate number of students of color being affected by major discipline referrals (in-school suspension, suspension and expulsion)," one city school that was part of the pilot project posted on its website.

To the surprise of no one, it's Portland, Oregon. Because of course.

Also, this is a terrible idea.

Turns out the kid is native American

LET'S GO! Parents of 9-Year-Old Chiefs Fan Threaten to Sue Deadspin After Journalist Used Deceptive Photo to Smear Child as Racist

Here we go!

The parents of 9-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan Holden Armenta smeared by Deadspin journalist Carron Phillips are threatening to sue the outlet and reporter.

Carron Phillips smeared an innocent child who attended Sunday's Kansas City vs Las Vegas game by posting a deceptive photo of only one side of his face.

"It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate black people and the native americans at the same time," Phillips wrote accusing the child of 'blackface.'

It turns out Holden Armenta is Native American.

Holden is of Native American descent and belongs to the Chumash tribe, with his grandfather serving on the Tribe board in Santa Ynez.

Carron Phillips deleted his tweets attacking Holden Armenta, however, the child's family is demanding a retraction and apology.

According to the letter obtained by NewsNation, the Armenta family hired Clare Locke LLP to pursue legal action against Deadspin, Carron Phillips, G/O Media and Great Hill Partners.

"These articles, posts on X and photos about Holden and his parents must be retracted immediately," the letter from Clare Locke read.

"It is not enough to quietly remove a tweet from X or disable the article from Deadspin's website. You must publish your retractions and issue an apology to my clients with the same prominence and fanfare with which you defamed them," the attorney wrote.

The Deadspin Writer Trying To Ruin A Child's Life Is Even Crazier Than You Thought

Carron Phillips, the senior writer at Deadspin attempting to ruin a child's life, has thrown around baseless accusations of racism on numerous occasions.

Phillips has circulated in the news for misleadingly accusing a young boy of wearing blackface at a Chiefs-Raiders game in Las Vegas Sunday, despite the other half of his face being covered in red paint. It turns out the boy he tried to accuse of being racist toward Native Americans for wearing a headdress and doing the tomahawk chop is, in fact, Native American.
The senior writer has consistently made misleading and downright false accusations of racism in his articles which particularly target white people. In May 2022, he accused National Basketball League (NFL) fans at the G7 games of "white supremacy" for simply cheering on black players immediately following the racially-linked mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, which killed ten people in a supermarket.

The article making this claim is titled, "White fans were entertained by Black athletes a day after a racist killed Black people in Buffalo—this is what white supremacy looks like."

"That a day after Black America was shaken to its core because we've now realized that a grocery store on "our side of town" has become the latest place where we can be killed just for existing, Black players from the Celtics, Bucks, Suns, and Mavericks had to play in a win-or-go-home game to advance to the conference finals, despite the feelings that all of us were experiencing. And yet, no one seemed to care or ask them about it. It was clear that basketball mattered, but not Black lives or the Black psyche so much," Phillips wrote.

Phillips complained in an article posted July 27 that the National Football League (NFL) intends to hold its 2024 Pro Bowl in a state governed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He claimed that DeSantis wants to "return Florida to the days of the antebellum South" because he banned critical race theory (CRT) from the state's schools.

"You would think that a league that is majority Black wouldn't consider any city in Florida as a "world-class destination," but this is what happens when a Black league doesn't have proper representation in the room where these decisions are made," Phillips wrote.

He also accused Michael Lewis, the author of "The Blind Side," of having a "slave owner's mentality" for writing about a white family who adopted former NFL player Michael Oher. The article was released after Oher filed a petition in a Tennessee court with claims that the family adopted him to enrich themselves.

"This is what happens when a man with a slave owner's mentality writes a "white hero" book about a white family that made money off a "poor, homeless, big, and dumb football player." To someone like Lewis, Oher was nothing until he met those kind and angelic white folks who saved his life," Phillips wrote in the Oct. 6 piece, "The Michael Oher situation illustrates how white people ignore other white people's racism."

In an Oct. 23 article, he lamented the celebration of New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor's victory, accusing white and black fans of ignoring racism. He accused Giants owner John Mara, whom he called a "coward," of not wanting a black team member to rise to stardom.

He also claimed that anyone who disagrees that black women dominate tennis is "dipped in American arrogance" and thinks a combination of white players can succeed at the sport.

"To say that Black women own tennis would be an understatement, as they've become the entire sport," he said. "And if you disagree with that statement it'll be because you wrongly think it's dipped in American arrogance or you hilariously believe that there's been some combination of white male and female players that have been able to dominate center court for the last few decades like Black women have."

"And if you're of that thinking, you're no better than the haters that Gibson had to deal with back in the 1950s," he continued.

In mid-August, Phillips wrote that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield's "whiteness" keeps giving him starting quarterback jobs.

When the news of Taylor Swift and Chiefs player Travis Kelce's relationship emerged, Phillips wrote an entire blog to complain about how Swift and Kelce's relationship gets more attention than Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens' marriage to gymnast Simone Biles.

"Be clear, I'm not trying to turn this into a popularity contest or some high school fairytale between the cheerleader and the captain of the football team," he said in the piece, "We know why Simone Biles doesn't get the same attention as Taylor Swift at NFL games." "I'm trying to get you to see how Black love is so often disregarded and ignored in our society. I'm not asking you to cheer for one couple more than the other. I'm asking you to wonder why one couple gets so much more attention than the other — and to ponder how similar the coverage and attention might be if everyone involved was white."

He then suggested the solution to getting the Chicago Bears to start winning again is to elect a black coach.

Phillips has not backtracked his accusations made against the young Native American boy, Holden Armenta, nor did he respond to the Daily Caller on whether he will include the full photo to show the red paint on his face. Armenta's mother, Shannon, shamed Deadspin for targeting her son.

They're going to be buried in lawsuits.

Also, they're increasing the odds of a meaningful white nationalist/white supremacist movement existing by being so blatantly racist.

And which is concerning to say the least. We don't need those morons getting more popular.

Eh, it seems more like a meaningless declaration, not an actual act. I've heard nothing about Biden signing it or putting it into law. It's just a resolution.

EDIT: oh, wait, you are referring to the Oregon thing, not the antisemetism thing, I think?

Specifically, I'm referring to the antisemetism resolution, which is a nothing burger, other than so many democrats not signing it. There are actual reasons not to sign it, but I doubt that many politicians have such deep principled reasons.

The problem is that slave and other ethnic groups were able to use corruption to weaken the Soviet Union. The Anglo and Germanic races are natural slave races and they always obey whoever is the legitimate authority.
Forum Wide Temp Ban - Going beyond spicy takes to advocating for slavery, good job

what the actual fuck is that? Advocating slavery?
He is satirizing his own people for not questioning authority.
This is as ridiculous as saying mark twain was a racist because of the satiric language he used in his anti-racism parodies.

Also why is the appeals forum locked so that only banned people and mods are allowed to post there?
I can't mention anything in the appeals thread
and must instead post it here.

This is no different than saying anglos and Germans are sheep, followers, etc.

He's saying they're natural slave races because they obey. He's not saying they should be slaves or supporting slavery.

I don't even like King Arts, but somebody either misinterpreted or went overboard here. Seriously wtf guys. This is nonsensical.

Anglos stopped slavery before a lot of other people, and Germanics were famously known for being hard to control by the Romans. I think you're confusing them for Slavs (Slav=Slave), which in history were enslaved a lot. Although they ultimately proved to be very tenacious when it comes to invasions as well, not really deserving of such a rude title.
I can't actually think of anyone who is a 'natural slave race', maybe Chinese or the North Koreans although that's more because of so many years of nasty communist/dictator indoctrination, they weren't like that in history.

The Boot would like to explain why King Arts got hit. His statement, taken in its totality, was seen as defending a mass-murdering regime, IE Stalinist Soviet Union. Ordinarily this would be a TOS ban, but he left enough wiggle room that instead the Boot smacked him upside the head with a month long temp ban.

How is saying "communist russia collapsed from internal corruption" defending it?

He is attributing the USSR's collapse to corruption done by slav (ethnic russian)
And then contrasting it to modern western nations, and saying they won't collapse because anglos and germanic people are "too obedient" to perform the necessary corruption for their nations to collapse.

I think he is wrong. As he is wrong about most things.
But I don't see how this is in any way shape or form defending mass murdering.
And the initial ding was for promoting slavery, not promoting mass murder.

Besides which, saying something to the extent of "stalin was strong" (which is wrong, he was propped up by USA) is not the same as supporting his genocidal policies.

At most you have him down as a "racist" who says that slavs (ethnic russians) are corrupt as a whole. while germanic and anglos are obedient sheeple (natural slaves).

Yeah...it is a bit difficult for me to argue "hey you should have banned him for this and not for this !". His last post was a tad bit...unusual if I want to be classy and polite.

So for starters, you changed this from "Advocating slavery," to "defending mass murdering regime," after you were corrected for the misinterpretation...which, I hate to say it but I have to: seems very Spacebattles of you. This is something I'd expect out of a SB mod/admin. Not you. I think more highly of you, and this site. So I find it particularly strange to see that kind of reaction from you.

Second, I don't see him defending the regime. I see him saying Slavs, as in Slavic people (the first 'slaves' was a typo,) hurt the regime with their corruption, and that Germanic and Anglo people are obedient sheep. Whether you agree or not, this is not advocating for slavery or supporting the communist regime.

I get that you don't like the guy. I don't either. I think he's wrong about a lot of things and I often vehemently disagree with him. But this comes across as you misinterpreting what he meant, and then shifting goalposts and doubling down when your misinterpretation was brought to light.

The right thing to do here is to approve his appeal. It's okay. We all misunderstand things from time to time.
