Plus, people now know that it's not actually a remake, but a sort of new game plus alternate universe sequel; meaning those who aren't into that have already lost interest.

What I got out of it was that they were stuck in a time loop or something. And that Sepheroth finally found a way out. learned that Cloud would be the one to kill him an decided to fuck him mentally up first before they'd have their inevitable confrontation.

I fully expect the ending to be either completely incomprehensible, or nearly identical to the original game; rendering all the changes they made to the narrative utterly meaningless.
