Election 2020 Election Fraud: Let's face it, this year will be a shitshow

Anyway. I probably won't be posting here for a long while, if ever.

I thought I would try to talk to people who seemed legitimately terrified of a Biden win and spinning fantasies about Trump overturning the election, and see if it was possible to explain to them why Trump wasn't going to win and why they didn't need to be scared and angry about it.

To be honest, I think the attempt was a failure. The conspiracy theorists still seem just as devoted as ever. The fact that literally nothing has materialized to support their beliefs hasn't changed their minds, and nothing I have said seem to either.
The scared folks just seem to have jumped to "scared and angry".

I appreciate the tolerance and kindness I have been shown. Whatever happens the next few months, take care of yourselves and be well.

I wouldn't bother with him anymore friend as he obviously isn't arguing in good faith. Just look at his attack on your masculinity with his sensitivity comment, a favorite tactic of people who argue with emotion not logic.

It should have been obvious from the beginning that he was never here to argue in good faith when, the very day he signed up, his first posts was to immediately rush here to Politics. Never trust anyone whose first few acts of posting in a non-political forum is to jump into the Politics area to have any intention of arguing fairly or decently.

I have addressed this issue again and again - why is Trump some how guilty by association from the most radical people who might support him, even if those people are a tiny fringe among his supporters and even if Trump himself disagrees with those people and even declares his disapproval - yet the left for some reason isn’t to blame for radicals even more extreme within their ranks who are not only influential within the Democrat Party but are openly embraced by the leadership?

Like Louis Farrakhan. I just talked about this. 🙄
Because tribalism; members of the tribe are always saints, while outsiders are always sinners.

To be fair, this is primarily a political forum; the total posts made in Politics and Current Affairs dwarfs every other subforum combined.

That is unfortunate, I do think you are a reasonable and intelligent man. I wish you well. Mutual respect is the cornerstone of the Poleis, and you have been nothing but respectful. God bless and joyful tidings to you!

Lord Invictus,

Ouch. You wound me. Or something. I just find it more entertaining to read than fiction.

I don't really have any urge to make comments on anyone's positions. I'm just here to watch creepily from the window. >.>

I am literally taking a bath and eating popcorn as I say this, so I actually feel a little more lurker-ey than normal. <.<

Sorry for being a creepy lurker.

Eh can't really agree with that. I've been in forums in the past where a subforum not related to the topic the forum was about (or in a more negative sense was a containment area) was larger than the rest of the subforums, but they certainly didn't have the political stuff is severely bleeding through the other areas. I like to point to a certain Reeeeeeetarded "video game" shithole as an example of it bleeding through heavily enough to become a political forum and I'm pretty sure this place hasn't reached those lows, so I can't really agree with you that this is a primarily political forum.

Nah, lurking's cool, did it myself before my first post. I just consider someone a potential tool and jackass if, say, they decided they were gonna bum rush the Politics forum the first hour you sign up for a video game forum.

Well, while I disagree with you on nearly everything aside from thinking it’s highly likely that Joe Biden becomes president, I appreciate you stopping by and debating. Being one of the lone voices for your ideology arguing against a bunch of people at once can be exhausting and frustrating, so I don’t blame you for leaving if you need to. It takes a lot of guts to argue the minority opinion like that, so you have my respect.

Still, you do realize that your argument for why mesonoxian is arguing in bad faith applies to myself and a majority of the people on this forum, don't you? So watch that friendly fire.

I cant speak for others, but as far as I am concerned, while I tend to disagree with you, you are welcome here and should consider sticking around.

I haven't been joining debates because as of late, my energy and desire to do much more than drop random posts is gone...but the back and forth has provided for good reading.

You and mega should stick around. I'd hope the others continue to respectfully and civilly disagree with you.

Also remember you are talking to a lot of die hard trump supporters. I tend to want Trump to win and I believe in the fraud myself. However, I just don't think it's going to happen and haven't for weeks. A lot of people are holding out hope, and I've had plenty of disagreements with them myself.

It's people like randomboy who I can't stand. They were here just to troll. You seem like you want to genuinely have discussions, and that's great. I'm glad you decided to stop by.

With my past as a moderate/right leaner/libertarian in whitehall, I can relate to how exhausting it is to be completely outnumbered in debates. Perhaps consider after being exhausted here, just shooting the shit in some more lighthearted threads?

Unlike SB, while you might run into some rude people here, you ARE welcome here even if you to against the grain.

Personally, I think you're being far more charitable to him than he deserves; the only reason he's here is to debate in bad faith. Once he grows bored of that, he'll leave; same with the rest of them.

He's putting in actual effort, rather than just shitposting and trolling like some others.

If he wants to put effort into disagreeing, that's fine.

For the most part, unless they're clearly trolling, which I don't pick up on here, I find the claim of "bad faith" debating to be spacebattles bullshit.

And even if he is just trolling...well the best way to defeat a troll is to just not give them what they want. If the response a troll gets is "we kinda like having you around buddy, you should stay," they are going to get bored and leave anyways.

My response is the best approach, whether he's a troll or not. I'll treat you with dignity and respect as long as you do the same to me.

You didn't exactly rush in here to post in Politics the very day you signed up, did you? So, no, I think I feel I'm justified in not believing in people who do so until I see otherwise. mesonoxian just continued to prove my judgment right.

This sentence jumped out at me, so I just want to insert a minor comment. I believe it to be much easier for a left-wing person to debate here than for a right-wing person to debate in SB's whitehall, because here, at least, the mods are not trying to be actively malevolent toward people and try to be truly impartial and butt in as little as possible.

Even if he's 100% sincere, it gives me the Heebie-jeebies to think he's a self-described communist and not ashamed of it. This lot is as bad as nazis, except they hide the malevolent portions of their ideology behind a veneer of superficial morality.

This is absolutely true.

We are a much more welcoming environment in that regard. They'd probably have already gotten "bad faith" infractions by now.

Which are just the most ridiculous and infuriating thing. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I am acting in bad faith. (That is directed at those people here claiming these people are "bad faith" as well.)

Some definitely are here in bad faith, Like randomboy or The Truth, or whatever his name was. Others just disagree.

I don't think there are any redeeming qualities to communism or communists, same goes for Nazis.

I'll still talk to them. Hell, given the chance, I'd talk directly with Hitler, Mao, Stalin.

I just like to know what makes people tick.

Also by talking with true believers, people who aren't just trolling, you keep yourself sharp, and get an insight into other minds and perspectives, and broaden your horizons.

So I don't mind having around people who want to put effort into actually discussing things.

It's the trolls who can fuck off.

Not exactly, no; my first post was that General Introductions thread I made. After that though? Nothing but politics for the next few days. I came here for the political discussion first and foremost.
