I'm not sure if it's literally manslaughter, or whether Chinese law even uses that concept in that way. (These things vary; Dutch "doodslag" is technically the same as "manslaughter", but has different criteria.) The point is: it doesn't get you a terribly heavy sentence, and that creates the absurd incentive to just kill the victim. It's the less burdensome alternative, compared to having to pay for his medical needs forever.

It's the same issue you get with bankruptcy laws in many jurisdictions: it's often ludicrously easy to just pile debt into a company, then let it go bust, and walk away debt-free. Totally, twisted, but government regulations intende to make things better have created this perverse situation. WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING? ;)

(The famous historical example of this kind of thing is the 'Cobra problem' in British India.)
In a darkly amusing way, people in the West have begun "not-joking" that a hitman is cheaper than years of alimony once your wife divorces you. And if you get caught? You spend a decade or so in the slammer and then are released... and you still have all your finances/financial ties.

Yeah, the divorce-rape situation is becoming that bad that it's becoming a common thought that just killing your soon-to-be-ex is a cheaper alternative than being raked over the coals, and given that (IIRC) 90% of divorces are initiated by women who have everything to gain and nothing to lose...

When this sort of situation happens, no matter what the crime or reason for it was, you know something is broken in the system.

There is no such thing as a perfect world.

No matter what you do, there will be trade offs all a civilization can realistically do is find out what series of trade offs work for them. In our case, I think we all realize deep down inside we are heading for a global crisis and most likely a nasty one. And a lot of the pain the west will feel will be self inflicted.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
Saw this tidbit at the end of the Diesel article:
"Some relief is on the way. At least two vessels carrying around 1 million barrels of diesel are due to arrive in New York after being diverted from their original destinations in Europe."

I'm sure Europe loved this part.
Maybe that's part of the strategic reserve intended to be sent to Europe but was then recalled?

The US strategic reserve Brandon is draining is made of unrefined petroleum.I think the USA is just outbidding the EU, the situation is getting so bad that the retard running the ECB was forced to finally raise interest rates, since that is the only way to keep the Euro from plummeting in value even further.

Oh Sh*t, It's REALLY Happening

As the IMF, politicians and private sector discuss the move to Central Bank Digital Currencies, is this all leading to a brighter economic future for ordinary people or social credit system to control your every move? (…it’s the latter)
