Roleplay Choosing the Princess Bride to be RP

Aubrey's eyes widened at him stating that he somehow knew she was having triplets and almost immediately she seemed to grimace, almost as if in anticipatory pain as her hand shifted to her barely noticeable belly. Her teeth were momentarily bared as she raised her lip before she managed to digest what he had just revealed to her and slowly nodded. "Oh... alright then," she then said in a dry voice. She visibly blinked and then glanced around as he spoke of the large wedding to be planned and was clearly vacillating between shock and awe in disbelief at her rising fortunes. "I should go to Kaldak. We have things to speak about," she then said, knowing he was already heading to the city proper, probably overtaking the Squire as they spoke.

Approaching Solitude

Sir Ladd was riding atop a black horse, bouncing along gingerly in the saddle, his hands firmly gripping the reins of his horse as he tried to keep pace with Princess Eldyra who herself... seemed to be intentionally slowing her own pace so the young Squire could keep up. She wasn't mounted on one of those famous ivory haired Elven steeds of her homeland either, but a mount from Skyrim as well. Though it was still white. She glanced back, noticing the Squire slowly catching up as they bypassed the Watchtower and approached the Main Gate of Solitude, the large city nestled as it was on the high ground overlooking the sea, the Blue Palace taking up the opposite end of the city.

For her, it was always interesting to ride through the city proper to approach the Palace. Solitude was well named considering how well placed the city was for defense. It even had a protected harbor. If Princess Eldyra fooled herself enough, she could almost think this peninsula could resemble her homelands of Tiranoc with the sea crashing waves against the long beaches that almost immediately rose to towering peaks. Almost. As she looked back to the Squire though, she suddenly let out a call of alarm. "See to your rear!" the Princess then said, bringing her horse about.

The Squire turned and instinctively ducked just as something hard struck his helmet and in a flash of motion Prince Kaldak hurtled past on his far larger Destrier, a proud warhorse from the Southern realms several hands taller and likely thicker then either of the Skyrim sourced mounts the other two were riding. The Prince sheathed his sword, having struck the Squire on the head with a light rap of his hilt and finally stopped, making sure that Sir Ladd was alright.

With a slight adjustment of his helmet, the Squire then nodded deferentially to his Knight. Satisfied, Kaldak decided to engage more at the Squires expense. "I would've thought you two would be at the Palace by now? I thought you a Knight in training when you were pledged to me," Prince Kaldak said.

"We ride Birds where we're from. Not horses. Far smarter," the Squire replied sharply and earnestly.

"Tastier too!" the Prince then said before turning to Eldyra, who almost immediately seemed to notice the ecstatic look upon his face, barely restrained.

"Your glowing brighter than that Hero-God of yours Talos," Princess Eldyra then said sarcastically. She was about to say something else before realizing she should let him say it.

"I am to be wed within the month Princess Eldyra!" Kaldak then blurted out, before trotting over to the two of them, wedging his large warhorse between the two smaller Skyrim steeds and suddenly reached an arm out to each of them.

"Oh... Okay!" Princess Eldyra then said, suddenly taken aback for once as the large Prince practically dragged her in for a very awkward still mounted hug as the good feelings washed over him. The Squire reacted just as awkwardly, but it was more to keep his horse steady and him still mounted as he felt the Prince wrap an arm around his body briefly.

Thankfully the Prince let go of them both but left a hand on each of their shoulders, half squeezing, half shaking them both as his face looked close to splitting open with his broad smile. "You are both invited of course. All of Skyrim will be!" he then said, his voice almost unsteady with excitement. "All of the North is. As is your Phoenix King!" Kaldak then stammered.

Eldyra smirked, rather struck and amused at how cheerful the Human clearly was and wondering in the back of her mind if she would've provoked such an intense reaction if they were the ones to be wed. She just nodded at his invitation of the Phoenix King of Ulthaun. It was nice to dream...

"To Lady Aubrey Prince Kaldak?" Sir Ladd asked.

"What? Yes... of course," Kaldak then said, slapping his Squire on the back of his shoulder. This time the Squire started to smile as well.

"Oh that's good. You two always made for a good couple," the Squire then said as the Prince paused, his heart warmed by the Squires unexpected endorsement.

"Thank you Sir Ladd," Kaldak then said, his face softening a bit.

"Surely... not the best choice politically," the Princess then said, almost acting as if to bring down the temperature and the Prince turned to her, his face darkening ever so slightly. "It is for the best," she then said. "You Humans, you should find as much happiness as you can. Life is too short to be wasted on court intrigue. I'm sure the two of you will be spawning a whole litter of little Humans over the next few decades."

Smiling again, Kaldak suddenly tugged on Eldyra's shoulder and pulled her forward a bit. She didn't resist as she leaned forward when Kaldak suddenly planted a big kiss on her forehead. The Princess recoiled back, more mystified then anything as she rubbed her forehead with her sleeve. It felt wet. And weird. "I'm sure you'll make some Prince happy someday."

"Careful. I'll still be in my Prime when your children and grandchildren come of age," the Princess then said, doing an impressive job of mastering Nords' jocular sensibilities.

It seemed to work as the Prince paused, his face cracking into a smile of amusement again as he was clearly unsure of what to say when the Squire piped up again. "We should ride to the Palace then yes?" the Squire then said.

"Yes!" the Prince replied. "The Housecarls must be informed. We are to spread news of my betrothal to every corner of the realm," he then added before spurring his Destrier forward, pushing past the two of them and leaving them in the dust as he rode through the gates.

"We..." Princess Eldyra said, still unmoved and watching the Prince rapidly ride out of sight all alone.

"It's the 'Royal' we," the Squire then said, hiding a smirk until the Elven noble cracked a chuckle.

Lydia, The King's personal housecarl and a member of The Blades walked up to all of them as they approached and gave a bow. "Honor to you my prince. Your father the High King has told me of your upcoming wedding I'm so happy for the both of you. I have made sure to do myu part of what he has asked and have sent my men thoughout Skyrim to tell of the news. Now if the three of you will follow me please, The King wishes to make a proposal in regards to Lady Eldyra and he needs imput from all three of you.

As the servants took aside their mounts, the three of them courteously received Lydia's welcome. While Sir Ladd didn't have much interaction or history with the Housecarl, Prince Kaldak had known her all of his life. The raven haired warrior was one of the most prestigious members of the Blades and had accompanied King Magnus on his many adventures when he was younger, serving as his Housecarl when he was "just" a Thane. When Kaldak himself was growing up, he couldn't help but find her to be an epitome of martial virtue which was no doubt enhanced by the fact that she was a strong influence in his own life and upbringing as a role model.

In his younger years he might've even been understandably smitten with such a strong Woman but that time had passed as he grew into a Man himself. Now his main issue he had to grapple with whenever encountering Lydia was how she was still so deferential to him as she displayed now.

Princess Eldyra nodding to Lydia, the two of them having a bit of a kinship, as much as an Elf and Human could in a relatively "short" period of time Eldyra had been there. The initial interest was based off of Lydia being one of the seniormost Housecarls in the Kings service and well versed in combat with both two handed swordsmanship, sword and shield, as well as with a bow as well as the common ground they had as veteran Women warriors and the particulars associated with that background.

"Curious as to the proposition," Princess Eldyra threw out, wanting Lydia's input.

"I have no idea Princess Eldyra," Lydia replied firmly. "Perhaps he wishes to establish an Embassy with your Elven people," the Housecarl then offered.

Eldyra frowned a bit, clearly not interested in such a formal diplomatic mission when the Squire piped up. "The former Thalmor Headquarters remains unoccupied," he said, chiming in along that line of questioning.

"With no betrothal forthcoming, my motivation to stay here for more then a short period of time is waning," Princess Eldyra then said. "Though like I said, I will at least remain until the Wedding, mayhaps even the first of your offsprings anniversary," she then added, once again referencing entire months as a seemingly short period of time.

"Are there no Men in all of Skyrim worthy of your eye now that me betrothed has been taken?" Aubrey then asked, reaching over and gripping Kaldak's arm, pulling the Prince to her side and practically hanging off of him as they proceeded through the palace.

"It is a big Empire. And I have plenty of time to look for someone worthy of my investment," Eldyra then said before glancing over Kaldak briefly in quiet admiration of him in this moment now.

"Praytell what drew you to my betrothed in the first place if you don't mind?" Aubrey then asked.

The Princess paused, clearly considering her next words carefully, not for the sake of Aubrey, Kaldak or the others present, but likely to present the most diplomatic manner in which to deliver her answer. "His achievements regarding the Darkest Dungeon were well known, as were his adventures on the Seas. It was then when I heard of his tales and of his noble pedigree. King Magnus, the Dragonborn, is known amongst my people, if only through thirdhand accounts but Skyrim is the most prosperous and powerful provinces of the North. So I came. And so I saw him and I found the accounts did him much favor. I do not think I could settle with a lesser Noble either in nobility or stature," Eldyra said in a bit of a long winded compliment.

Kaldak just smiled as Aubrey nodded. "He's the epitome of Nord masculinity in my humble opinion," Aubrey then said, almost teasingly.

"Yes well," Princess Eldyra then said, continuing to explain herself. "As Humans go, you are so short lived, I would like a Man who could keep up with me for a few decades at the very least. Your lineage seems blessed with such vitality."

"A moment ago you just stated that you actually preferred older men," the Prince then asked.

"Well yes, but preferably ones I made an impression on already," Eldyra replied, explaining her reasoning before glancing at Lady Aubrey. "And unattached of course," she then added. "I truly can't wait to see your family grow over the coming years. It will be quite interesting to bear close witness to such a sight," she added, sounding almost a bit wispful as she said so.

"So you would return to Skyrim Princess Eldyra?" Lydia then asked as they approached their destination within the palace.

"Of course. Hopefully at least once every several years or so," Eldyra replied. "I would hate to be a burden upon your hospitality."

Lydia and Kaldak briefly flashed incredulous looks on their faces at the thought of that as they proceeded into the chamber to await the King once again.

Magnus was seen eating a bowl of Mammoth cheese with a side of mead as the 3 came in. "Ah there you are come sit. Help yourself." there was a spread of drinks, meats fruits vegetables, cheeses, and sweets.

"I won't beat about the bush." Magnus said. he then looked to Eldyra "I need to apologize to you. I should have realized from the start that Aubrey and Kodlake were bound by fate, and I feel like i've dishonored you by wasting your time. So...to try to make it up to you and worth your time, I have a proposition but I need to make sure it's ok with all three of you. The fact of that matter is Eldyra, you're one of the best warriors I've ever met, your skills far surpass even that of my best men.

I want you to be one of my commanders and lead my armies. and serve as a royal court tutor for my dynasty, at least for a handful of my descendants. In exchange, If one of my unmarried male descendants attracts your fancy, you will have a claim to them no questions asked.

There is also the fact that because the blood of the dragon flows through my lines' veins Our bodies weaken and decay at a much slower rate. Any normal human aging you see from us such as our hair losing color is mainly superficial. I'm at an age that for normal nords would be close to elderly yet I'm still of greater health than even my hardiest soldiers and will probably be that way for a long long while.

All this to say as unfortunate as it may be there is a good chance that Kodlak will outlive Aubry, and if death overtakes her before it takes him whether by battle or age, it would leave my son a widower and he would need someone to take care of him for the remainder of his days. I know for a high elf, a few decades is a blink of an eye, and a few centuries is but a short holiday. Do you think this would be an acceptable proposal to the three of you?"

"My son, I understand that bonds forged in battle are strong. But men can act differently in the hardship war then how they would act in the comfort of their homes."

I then look at my son and the chamberlain.

"However, I do expect you to not abandon your child even if you don't marry her. What do you think would be the best way to raise the child with Princess Aubrey?"

Looking a bit forlorn, the Prince wasn't sure how to deal with the issue. Surely she wasn't the first to be impregnated out of wedlock by a Noble. Though he also hoped she and their potential offspring would be taken care of. "It would still be a while for me to have another child. The betrothal and marriage to Princess Merida, if she agrees, would still take sometime. By then arrangements can be made for Lady Aubrey and what would be best for her and the child?" the Prince asked.

"The child is of noble lineage. The line would have to renounce any claim of legitimacy to the Throne even if they could retain the status of nobility," the Chamberlain then stated sagely. "It is a common enough practice when dealing with confirmed bastards," he added with a nod.

"True, though again I would urge you to think the matter thrown, the fire nation is currently in an expansionist war with all of it's neighbors and has laid a claim to manifest destiny to the whole world. If you were elected Emperor then you could tie the Empire and the Fire Nation together. But as the fire nation currently is it seems unwise to ally with them. Especially since the other Elector Counts may look upon us with sucpicion."
I look at the Chamberlain.

"Any other thoughts about the potential of this match?"

The Chamberlain nodded in agreement. "The Fire Nation is powerful militarily. So much so they could be a threat to the Empire in totality potentially. So yes, I imagine attempting to secure an alliance through marriage would have rippling effects on our relations with the other Electors. And the Fire Nation is a considerable distance away. Certainly not insurmountable, but our longtime Imperial allies and neighbors dominate the local seas... and our extensive land borders if trouble was ever to brew. What would be most concerning would be that we are tied to them to the point they could almost dictate our foreign policy simply through hostile belligerency," the Chamberlain reasoned, working off of what his King had already said and finding himself in agreement with him.

"I'm happy you chose Princess Merida, she is a good choice and I am confident she will make you happy."

"Me too Father," the Prince then said before a flash of somberness crossed his face. "I would like word to be sent to Dun Broch as soon as possible but... I also wish to resolve the issue with Lady Aubrey as well. But I should have something ready to say to her before I see her again and inform her of... our choice," he added with a bit of hesitation, clearly not looking forward to that unenviable task.

"She seems resilient," the Chamberlain said with a bit of nod. "I am sure she will recognize the good fortune that already fell into her... lap," he then added, unsure of a more delicate word to use. "Take care of her needs and excise the issue of the offsprings issue as quickly as possible and we can avoid entanglements later due to lack of prudence." The Chamberlain then paused, knowing both the King and Prince apparently wanted the latter to be involved in the raising of the potential bastard.

"Spending some time with Aubrey's issue maybe unavoidable and certainly a positive influence on them. And perhaps when they are of age, they could serve the Household. And depending on the title granted, they could become an asset in time for the Kingdom as long as they remain well away from the line of succession," the Chamberlain further explained, his rationality clearly not improving the Prince's mood even as tht Chamberlain tried to at least speak in a respectful tone, softening his voice as he offered his opinion of the issue.

Aubrey's stroking of Kaldak's arm grew even more tightly as the King spoke of how the blood of the dragon flowed through his veins and rested her head against the Prince's upper arm. Lady Aubrey herself was tall, almost easily the height of the average man but Prince Kaldak himself was at least almost six and a half feet tall himself, stoutly built and thus still managing to tower over both Aubrey and Princess Eldyra. The revelations of Magnus almost seemed to confirm what was likely already somewhat obvious to ones as observant as those two.

Aubrey herself flashed a glance over to Princess Eldyra, curious as to her reactions to the revelations."You Honor Me King Magnus. I would be very gratified with the honor of tutoring your Heirs and defending your Heirs if you are willing to allow me entrance to your family. It is with reservation however to say that I would be more then willing to pledge my services to a command position if your Kingdom is threatened and in its defense, it would not behoove a Princess of Tiranoc to march onto War under anothers banner."

"So much for the Liberation of the Summerset Isles," Lady Aubrey mused in soft sarcasm, earning a bemused glare from the Prince.

Prince Kaldak seemed satisfied with her answer as well, and was actually a bit excited to hear she could be here more often. "What do you think of this my Lady?" he then asked Aubrey, trying to steer her back on track. It was clear from his tone he wasn't talking of Eldyra's offer as much as the other thing Magnus brought up.

"To be perfectly honest, I wasn't giving much to long term introspection of my fate. I'd be more concerned with those I leave behind. But I'd obviously prefer my Man to be as young and fit and virile as long as possible," she then added with a squeeze of her Husbands unyielding frame. "I will have to console myself in the afterlife knowing how much you'll miss me," she then said with a smile.

"The more loving a Wife you are now, the more he will miss you when you passed. You should make that impression while you have the time," Princess Eldyra then said with a wry grin.

Prince Kaldak nodded. "Aye. A Wise observation," he added with sarcastic selfishness as Aubrey looked at them both with a slightly sour look, both amused and surprised at how the two of them were already teaming up on outwitting her.

"Of course, as the royal tutor, you would be part of Skyrim's inner circle you'd be like my dynasties guardian. and I understand. I've heard you perfer the saddle over the throne so I thought I would give you an offer. In any case I would be honored if you kept company with me and my kingdom and know the doors will always be open to you."

Magnus had to stifle his own laughter. the banter between the three of them put Magnus's mind at ease. Whatever the gods willed for his son, it was clear that Kodlake was going to be taken well care of by a wife for the rest of his days however long or short they might be. This was good in Magnus's eyes. it was not ideal for a man to be alone.

"Assuming she doesn't lose her sense of honor, I have no doubt the heroes of Sovngarde would find a great friend in Aubrey when her time comes. Now for the 2nd order of business. So it turns out that it looks like Aubrey is not pregnant with a child, but three...daughters in fact.

Prince Kaldak was stunned into momentary silence, trying to process what had just been revealed and knowing it to somehow be true. His Father had access to a great many fonts of wisdom and knowledge which he knew enough of to be certain that what he just stated was true. Lady Aubrey for her part, winched slightly and rested her hand on her belly.

Thus leaving Princess Eldyra to speak up. "So... the worry was that he wouldn't be virile enough to be a suitable husband for me?" the Elven Princess then asked in a dry, sardonic tone.

"Uhhh..." the Prince groaned slightly, trying to muster the words. He turned to Aubrey who just laid a hand on his upper back.

"Breathe future husband... and father of three," Aubrey said. "It is I who will have to carry this burden for now. Gives you time to catch your breath," she then said. "It's a good thing too, I do not know how I would've been able to provide for three of your Dragonbrood on a Grave Robbers budget."

"This..." Kaldak then managed to mouth, just barely as he leaned forward a bit.

"Gwanur are actually common among some Elven lineages. Moreso then amongst you Mannish types," Eldyra then interjected as a trivial diversion, allowing Kaldak more time and space to breath.

"It's a blessing," he finally managed to blurt out, rising up again and recomposing himself. Aubrey smiled, gesturing for him to take a seat at the table when Kaldak simply reached over and embraced her tightly, warmly and for a second just held her to him, face to face before letting go. "It is a blessing!" he then added with a firmness, hoping that his initial reaction wasn't taken negatively.

Aubrey smiled, stifling an amused chuckle and gently pushed for the Prince to sit down. As soon as he did, he snatched up a tankard of mead and began drinking while Aubrey sat beside him, with Eldyra hovering closer to the opposite end of the table, inspecting the assorted fruits and legumes and sweets, but only occasionally reaching down to pop one particular morsel or another into her mouth.

"This might impair your adventuring for a time being," Aubrey then said, rolling her eyes a bit. "I can't imagine being that mobile in a few months time before or after."

"Yes... yes!" Kaldak replied. "It is good we traveled so much already together," he replied, already reflecting on the bonds they had forged whilst adventuring. "I must say the time spent back in my Home has been precious already. Spending the next Winter or two here could be a welcome change of pace. I couldn't imagine having to spend it somewhere else more..."

"Boring?" Aubrey offered.

Kaldak nodded. "I can't imagine spending a few years in Highgarden."

"Well they have jousts and tournies and festivals to keep you busy in the Southern realms," Aubrey then said. "I remember you speaking of wanting to be a Knight in Shining Armor before we met and we got your shiny armor all mucked up in the Weald."

Kaldak nodded and smiled, glad for what felt like far off memories now as he leaned in close to Aubrey. "New experiences to look forward too. And Skyrim is on the edge of the Empire. There is little reason to travel far if looking for wrongs to right."

"Or trouble to get into," Aubrey then said wryly. "Perhaps the politics of the Empire will prove to have some entertainment value as well," she then, turning to King Magnus. "Your Father was willing to shoulder the burden of our betrothal. The least I can do is make a proper attempt at being a proper Lady of the Court. Plus Skyrim probably isn't as festering with intrigue as other lands."

"I don't think there will be a need to hang up your adventuring boots...unless this becomes the norm but yes if need be I'll make sure to build up the entertainment district as much as possible if need be. In the meantime I have a spell I need to teach you."

Magnus showed his son and future daughter-in-law the food conjuration spell that Mora taught him. "My friend told me that carrying three children would cause Aubrey's appetite to grow tremendously. At least this way there won't be extra strain on my cooks."

Magnus was keeping humorous spirits regarding all this. This was new to him too Elisif was borderline infertile and Kodlak's birth was more or less a Miracle child. He never thought about how fertile he himself was or how fertile Dragonborn was period. "Eldyra mind if I pull you aside for a bit?"

"I don't know if I can get used to eating," Aubrey then said, washing her hands on a damp cloth before sliding a wooden plate in front of her and tearing a chunk of mammoth meat off of a rib end. She paused, reaching over for a wheat bread roll and some sour grapes.

Kadlak just shook his head, clearly not sympathizing. "Anything we conjure that you don't eat, I'll ensure won't go to waste," he then said, reaching over and holding the rib bone steady, before tugging on it slightly, allowing Aubrey to liberate the meat from its bone more cleanly. They both nodded in satisfaction at their teamwork before descending into smaller conversation as Magnus approached Princess Eldyra.

She had picked out a few fruits and nuts, washing them down with a bit of the lightest mead at the table and a bit of a wince as her eyelids rapidly blinked at the taste of even the weaker mead on the table. When he asked of her, Eldyra just nodded. "Of course King Magnus," she then said, walking beside him as they trotted over to the other side of the room. Her eyes were searching his face, already discerning what he wanted to discuss and quietly taking measure of his mood and likely more as her gray eyes studied every facet of his face and body language.

"My wife was afflicted with a disease to where she really couldn't bare children. It was part of the reason why the laws were changed to where the firstborn would be the next heir regardless of gender the fact that Kodlak was born at all I'm certain is of Mara's intervention. I just sort of assumed that you and my son would have complications as well, but then you just straight up confirm that your people are fertile as well. Just how fertile are your people?

if things happen the way I think they might then between, then there is a possibility of having a lineage of dozens if not hundreds of decedents. How do I make sure that they all keep to the noble path and don't bring about the darkness in destruction? Parthanaux told me that dragons are a naturally proud race, and while that can lead to having a strong sense of honor and dignity it can also lead to them becoming greedy and hungry for power and control. I use my nature in a quest for knowledge but how will I know I'm not condemning the rest of the world to darkness and destruction just because my dynasty is destined to be very fruitful and multiply greatly?" he lets out a sigh.

"I don't even know if I am making any sense."

She paused, taking in his words whilst staring at him intently as he spoke of her Wife, Mara's grace, and the potential complications that could arise if she had been his Sons betrothed. She finally blinked a bit when he spoke of Parthanaux and of Dragons themselves. And his worries for the future considering the potential potency and fruitfulness of his lineage and paused a moment in quiet introspection. Was he truly concerning himself with the affairs that could take place generations down the line. An impressive trait for any Human to display concern for any beyond their own issue, or perhaps that of their grandchildren. Surely not across the generations.

"To your first question, I am the youngest daughter of my Father, the Hero Eldyr of Tiranoc, who Mother was blessed by Isha with many children. Issue from pairings between our noble lineages of sacred Ulthaun and those of you Humanfolk are exceedingly rare but possible. If I was to return to noblest Ulthaun, it would not be while I am heavy with child for my kin would certainly terminate such a pregnancy. And any offspring seeded by even your lineage would be perpetually an outcast, seen as more lowly then the most lowborn of the Asur. Furthermore, our period of pregnancy is long. At least two years. And it is draining during that time, not just physically mind you. But in spirit. And that is if the seed takes root which isn't guaranteed, though I am sure your son..," she then said, as an aside. "I would be most confident with your revelation that Isha would've blessed our coupling."

"On the face of it, I do not agree with your pessimism. You Humans breed prolifically to the point that your short lives and constant feuding must be fated to keep your peoples in check. For you, what you state appears to be apocalyptic but take comfort in that you are not the only line of Men who maybe cursed with profound... fecundity. Some realms, especially to the far South, are almost endemic in how depraved they are in pursuit of heirs. I would not worry about your legacy being your lineage bursting forth over the lands of Men like some barbarian horde," she then added. "Demagogues tend to correct their own numbers when a sufficient number of them find proximity to each other after all," Princess Eldyra then said before pausing in reflection, taking a moment to consider her next words.

"As to your other concerns, it is a rare but noble thing that your thoughts draw to such far off portents, concerning the generations that follow you. My Father spoke to me of when the lands of Tiranoc were plunged into the seas millennia ago, long before this lands were even settled by your Mannish tribes. Those that abandoned Ulthaun during those times of tribulations landed upon the Summerset Isles, becoming the Altmer. Through their abandonment of the Asur and our ways, they soon measured their lives in mere centuries and soon locked themselves in a destructive spiral which plagues your lands to this land. The irony of this tale is not lost on me."

"The purpose of this tale is to inform you that you should ensure that your legacy is in your principles as much as your lineage young King. The Children of Ulthaun were Chosen by the Gods to inherit stewardship of this world. When our kin abandoned sacred Ulthuan during its great trials, they abandoned the Asur and became diminished. In response they strove for purity and supremacy which led to a spiral downward in pursuit of both. I cannot speak of what greatness lies in your people King Magnus but while you may have the soul of a Dragon, you are still born of Men and of service to them. I think your Son knows this. He learned it from you and from his travels. The fact he is being betrothed to a former vagabond like the good Lady I think is a good portent for your values carrying on to their offspring as well."

She reached out a hand to his shoulder and gripped it just hard enough for him to feel it. "Take counsel of your fears but do not let them control you. If you do that, you too may, in great despair, abandon that which made you great." she then said before pausing, letting her hand slip from his shoulder. "For a Human," she then added, cocking her head to the side, almost as if she was unable to prevent herself from offering that final addendum.

"Anyways, I should be able to keep watch over your growing brood," the Princess then said, turning to the young lovers still locked in conversation. "And if destiny makes measure of it, perhaps I can continue such Stewardship even after you've passed."

Magnus meditated on her words a bit. "Honestly I'm not concerned about whether they would find a place where they are. If nothing else I'm sure they can settle Westeros. I just don't want them to turn into Miraak. I know for a fact that dragonborn lives a lot longer than humans. in any case, I'll try to keep your wisdom in mind."

he then smiled. "Keep in mind that dragonborns are not fully human and it was a dragonborn that stepped foot onto summerset isle and forced the Thalmor into submission."

Princess Eldyra had a small smile fixed on her face as he made his quite factual boast, answering it with the slightest of nods. "Few Asur take the time to listen to the needs of the Men, but I respect you enough to always listen," she then said before taking a step back and letting the warm mirth fill their presence again.

"As for your Queen, perhaps the Mother-Goddess looked upon the birth of the Prince with favor," Eldyra then said turning to the Prince. "I heard how she lost her previous Husband to a cowardly attack. Such trauma could cause an echo that continues to stir long after. Perhaps Kadlak's upcoming nuptials will be looked upon favorably by the Goddesses like his birth was."

With that said she turned back to the young couple, Prince Kadlak already asking what the two of them were discussing. "Nothing of immediate consequence to one such as you my Prince. The Young King and I spoke of my people and his people and the long lives our lineages cast."

"Enough bragging then," Lady Aubrey then said. "I don't need my Husband counting down the months. Letters can travel far and it will be a delight to know who will come to our Wedding, heedless of station or scandal or if previously suitors of my Husband," she then added. "You after all stated you would be in attendance." She turned back to the Prince. "Any dignitaries you are hopeful to see again?"

"I would like to share my happiness, but would only like it shared among those who would bask in the celebration as opposed to find resentment in it," the Prince replied, already wondering if he should pen some of the letters himself to guest that might be coming in attendance from beyond the borders of Skyrim.

he responded in kind by giving her bow. She too was honorable even if she did have some...quirks befitting of an elf. His look soured a bit when she indirectly mentioned Ulfric.

"Ah yes that was...not a pleasent situation for anyone involved. Perhaps I should tell a story of that duel with him over dinner sometime."

he then gave a smile when Aubrey mentioned who all might attend thier wedding. "I'm hopeing as many people attend as possible.

"Honestly I have a feeling that if anyone will give us trouble it may be some of the...aristocrats." The bile and vineger that came from his mouth upon saying that word could be felt from even the least observant in the room. "...blasted pompous milk drinkers. For every one Bryling and Firebeard, there are 2 Black-briars and Siddgeirs, they bring shame to their ancestors, and their villainy would be better suited in Westeros. " even still there is plenty other nobility whom I know for a fact will support you.

If there are other guests outside of Skyrim you wish to have attended it may not hurt to write a letter to them." Magnus himself was considering writing a letter to the emperor of China and Fa Mulan.

Aubrey had a grim smile grow across her face as she heard her presumed Father-in-Law speak of many of the others in Skyrim's aristocratic class with such venom, the words seeming pleasing to her. Perhaps the Court in Solitude would be warmer then she previously thought as the two of them finished their meals and after excusing themselves from the table, decided there was work to be done. Time couldn't be wasted when it came to issuing invitations, even with a months time to prepare.

Princess Eldyra excused herself as well, encountering Squire Ladd and Lydia, one of King Magnus' most senior and respected Housecarls, standing guard outside still. The Squire dutifully followed the couple while Lydia offered a curt nod to Eldyra. "Princess," Lydia stated.

"Housecarl," Eldyra replied.

"What news?" Lydia then asked almost as tersely.

"I shall be remaining here for a while longer, beyond the wedding itself. Your Prince's future issue and their fates will become partly my responsibility," Eldyra stated simply.

Lydia smiled. "Good. Every day you spent here the memories of the Thalmor are challenged and we can move forward," the Housecarl then said as Eldyra just offered a small smile of acknowledgement before heading off to her own quarters within the palace. Perhaps the old Thalmor Embassy would be of use then.

Lady Aubrey found herself a bit more excited then she was imagining as she conjured up a guest list. The Blue Palace had a great hall for gatherings of this size and while all of the Skyrim nobility would likely be invited, there was still plentiful room for others to attend... though not enough that it couldn't be considered exclusive. They could pick and choose favorites as they drew over the list.

"First of all, I must inform all of the other suitors of the betrothal. No exceptions. But should I add that before I dispatch invitations or would that be too much?" Prince Kaldak asked.

Lady Aubrey immediately shook her head. "No. Send the invitation. No need to explain yourself, much less apologize. Your resolve in personal affairs must be as strong as your resolve in battle with these types. You think that this Fire Princess would be soothed by a few words of succor when she finds out she was beaten out by me of all the Ladies in the realm."

Prince Kadlak nodded. "Aye. There is wisdom in your words," he said, already sitting down. "I should get the hard ones out of the way first then," he added, addressing a letter to Princess Azula of the Fire Nation already. Though they never met, their correspondence had been positive and suitably fiery over the months. Though thankfully little of it pertained to passion and romance in and of itself. It took him a moment to get started but as soon as he did, the words started flowing.

He ignored the potential courtship entirely and simply issued the invitation when at Aubrey's urging, he added a few compliments of her as well, if only to feed her self-aggrandizement. "See simple enough. She'll take it however she takes it. Nothing you say will change that," Aubrey said as the Prince set the letter aside for the Chamberlain to review just in case.

"What of the other Princesses?" Prince Kadlak then asked, with the hard one out of the way.

"Write something personal but... your Father will probably have an addendum for them and others. They represent their own states after all," Aubrey then said. "Except maybe Aranessa..."

"Yes a letter from my Father might provoke her regardless of content," Prince Kadlak then said, deciding the Pirate Queen was next. "I'm not even sure an invitation is appropriate."

Aubrey paused, thinking on it. "Actually you might be right. She might actually show up," Aubrey replied with a snicker. "Maybe I can write her. She knows me."

The Prince furrowed his brow. "You think that is appropriate?" the Prince asked.

"Propriety and her aren't matching terms. Considering how exclusive her offer was, I don't even know how she'd receive the news except I think it would be better coming from me. You were going to be siring the Grandchild of the Seafather after all right? That's probably a big deal to her."

"Was..." Prince Kadlak then said before nodding in agreement.

He sighed and went through the list of suitors. "Princess Elena is still traveling with her embassy. Dun Broch and Arendelle aren't too far away. If they desire to, they could come in time. Princess Maegaery a bit farther still. I can talk with Moana at anytime. I doubt Fa Mulan would be able to attend without the use of magic which... seems excessive."

Aubrey shrugged. "Remember you sent Mulan a letter first you thirsty dog," Aubrey said.

"Before I met you in fact," the Prince replied smartly.

"Think Merida, Anna and Elena will attend?" Aubrey asked as Kadlak got to writing.

"I would like to think Princess Merida would but... she might want to pass just because she'd have to travel here for what she'd probably see as a giant formal ballroom type of deal," Kadlak explained.

"There'll be a lot of restless young Nobles though. Hunts and melees and drinking and merriment like you Nords like to engage in. Won't just be all balls and banquets," Aubrey replied.

"True," the Prince said. "If I remind her of that, maybe she will attend. As for Queen Anna, she usually likes to play host, not guest. If the affairs of Arendelle are keeping her busy, she'll probably just send a delegation," Prince Kadlak then said before pausing a moment, realizing how difficult a marriage to a Head of State would actually be.

"And maybe send a lovely wedding gift!" Aubrey then said, that thought falling into her mind as it ran with possibilities.

Kadlak chuckled. "Elena I think would attend to. Help liven up the balls at least," the Prince said as Aubrey nodded in agreement.

"Liven up the banquet as well. We can sprinkle a copious amount of that berbere chili powder upon the plates of Jarl Siddgeir," Aubrey suggested.

"Can you go one week without thinking of poisoning someone?" the Prince then said shaking his head.

There was a moment passed as Aubrey digested what a darkly humorous comment he made before she smirked. "When this is done I have things to speak with you, of a personal nature. But I want the mead to run out of your system before we talk," she the added, the firm tone of her voice causing Kadlak's face to soften as he realized she was serious.

He nodded. Then continued. "Hopefully Princess Margaery attends," he then quipped.

"Oh?" Aubrey asked.

He nodded. "If this is going to be a formal affair, her presence should brighten up everything."

"We should limit the entourage though. We don't want all the Tyrells to be here. Maybe just her... and the cute brother. The Knight of Flowers. The rest of them are a pit of vipers," Lady Aubrey then said in an ironically kind tone. "I think your Father would agree."

The Prince nodded. "Limited space after all," Kadlak said sarcastically as he scribbled it down. Maegaery and Loras Tyrell to be invited, plus a handful of attendants. Things might be shaping up nicely.

Magnus wrote letters of his own, first to the emperor of China, giving him a formal honorous greeting followed by the invitation before asking how things were in the chinese empire. The two while not exacly best friends did have a high respect for each other. Having the same teacher in Parthanax also helped.

He also wrote invitations to the other heads of state as well, Save Azula there was something about the fire nation he didn't trust in fact in reality he couldn't help but have the feeling that The Fire Nation and Skyrim would soon be at war with each other.

He wrote a special letter to King Fergus of the Dunbroch clan first Apologizing for the situation followed by explaining how things went down. Magnus also expressed to King Fergus that he was still more than open to the idea of any future diplomacy given how Both Kodlak and Meredia seemed to get along at least at a distance. Magnus also dropped the information of his upcoming triplet granddaughters (given that the mother and father were to be wed before the children's birth, the grandchildren at least under skyrim law would be considered legitimate) and expressed that if Fergus had any young sons that needed a betrothal the option was certainly there and how it would give both sides an excuse to visit each other frequently and strengthen their diplomacy.

He also wrote a letter to Maegaery but did so with invisible ink, he also wrote inside that this was for her eyes only as well as his desire to move to Skyrim and get away from the nightmarish political scape that was Westeros. once he finished the letters he let out a sigh. At this point, nothing could be done but to wait.

"Chamberlain," Prince Kaldak then said with a smile as he saw the approach of the red haired young man almost the same age as himself approach.

"I always thought you lot were called Stewards," Lady Aubrey then stated as the Chamberlain drew up before the two of them with a nod.

"My Lady, the terms are interchangable for the most part. The use of the term Steward is more common in Cyrodil and Skyrim while Chamberlain is more of a Breton term. We adopted the term Chamberlain to distinguish the Kings Court in Solitude from those of the component Jarls throughout Skyrim," the Chamberlain replied.

With that explanation out of the way, the Chamberlain then spoke up again. "I wish to congratulate the two of you on your betrothal and upcoming vows and I want you to know that I am always in the loyal service of you both," the Chamberlain then stated in brief when the Prince produced a short stack of letters to be read over and dispatched regarding the announcement of the wedding and its invitations. "Ah thank you," he said, taking them from the Prince.

Aubrey raised an eyebrow. "I certainly wasn't your first choice was I?" she then asked, wanting to skewer the Chamberlain a bit while they had him alone.

"When I advise the King, or the two of you in the future, it is important to note that my advice is non-emotional even though I want a personal relationship of trust with all of you," the Chamberlain then replied, stiffening up a bit. "But yes, you were not my first choice so to speak, but I only spoke of the political ramifications or lack thereof," he then added, wanting to be honest, but still not coarse, knowing his impression on Lady Aubrey could have ramifications for the future of their relationship.

"I would've liked to of been a fly on the wall during that conversation y'all had for sure," Aubrey then said, already deflecting attention away from the Chamberlain, pleased enough it seemed that he was acting apologetic.

"Falkbryn and I grew up around the same time. His Father, Falk Firebeard served both Queen Elisuf and then my Father when he elevated to King of Skyrim. And then... you'll find this of interest, he eloped with the Thane Bryling. A secret courtship. The resulting attempt at his Father resigning caused a scandal itself."

The Chamberlain shifted uneasily a bit, clearly being talked about and yet having nothing to say in his own defense or that of hs family as he saw Aubrey's eyes light up. "They eloped, how romantic," Aubrey replied, the slight sarcasm in her voice hiding the genuine sincerity she had for the revelation as Prince Kaldak grinned.

"The important thing is the Firebeards are of stout heart and serve Skyrim and my Father well and I know Falkbryn will serve our Court with just as dutifully," the Prince then said with earnesty.

"Thank you my Prince," Chamberlain Falkbryn replied with an appreciative bow.

"Unless he finds a secret love himself perhaps?" Aubrey then chided with a mischievous grin.

Princess Eldyra's two bodyguards looked almost relaxed. Both were Rangers of Tiranoc and thus more used to using the bow and sword in skirmish and ambush, but here, they had been compelled to take up the tower shield and long spears of the common Asur warrior, clad in their brightly polished armor, if only to keep up appearance sake. They had ditched the spears and shields finally, but were still wearing the armor though hidden under their drab cloaks as they waited in a small clearing beside a pond within a short ride of Solitude itself.

"He's certainly taking his time delivering the message to House Siddgeir," one of the Rangers then said, holding her bow in two hands in front of her and looking outward.

"It must smell worse there than the Blue Palace," the other Ranger then quipped, as she sniffed at a freshly plucked wildflower. In her other hand, she tightly clutched her sword.

Princess Eldyra didn't want to add to the conversation of the two lowborn Asur but sympathized with their banter. It was undoubtedly trying for the two of them to accompany her all of this way, living amongst the Humans for even such a short period of time. They didn't even have the care of taking part in the noble 'diversions' that Eldyra could theoretically partake in... and that she was certain her Silver Helm was taking part in.

"Here he comes," one of the Rangers then said, not even turning her head to acknowledge the oncoming rider picking his way through the forest trails towards them. The two rangers were more concerned with encountering some errant ill tempered Spriggan or other monster that perpetually infested these Northern woods. None of them of course would attract such attention but a Silver Helmed noble trotting through the forest like he was, perhaps.

As it was he rode towards them without incident, a satisfied smile on his face as he brought his White charger to a stop well short of the Princess, dismounted and then bowed to her at the waist. "Princess Eldyra, I bring news from Falkreeath Hold."

"Captain Tayharna of Tiranoc My Lady," one of the Rangers felt compelled to blurt out in a bit of a lowborn barb. He ignored it as best he could, though he was unable to speak before Eldyra asked thanks to the well timed introduction.

"Good news I imagine?" Princess Eldyra asked, studying the young Elven nobles face almost as easily as that of the Human nobility. Granted, it wasn't a hard task. Try as their kind might, Asur had to work hard to control their... passions.

And from the young Nobles face, some were more successful then others. "Steward Nenya has expressed that she will impress upon her Lord the importance of accepting and supporting this betrothal and assures me that she has Jarl Siddgeir's ear in this matter."

The Princess nodded. "Thank you Captain," she then said with a nod of acknowledgement. "And is she in good spirits?"

The Silver Helm paused, staring at Princess Eldyra blankly, as if apparently unsure of what she was referring to.

"Nenya. Is she in good spirits?" the Princess then said, narrowing her gaze.

Captain Tayharna nodded emphatically. "Oh I left her in very good spirits, of that I can assure you!" he said with a smile before glancing at the two young lowborn Rangers that had accompanied them to this dreary Human realm. "I can say with confidence that Thalmor are quite passionate and attentive lovers in spite of their abandonment of sacred Ulthaun and Asuryan's guidance. I had her extolling the divinities of each of her nine Gods or whatever they are."

The two Rangers exchanged subdued glances mixed with revulsion and shock as they realized this was meant to be a boast by the Highborn Elf.

Princess Eldyra just nodded, her face still looking pale and serene. "Steward Nenya is a good Woman. It is important to note that the Thalmor are our kin and though they are wayward, it is our duty to the Gods to bring them back under Asuryan's guidance," she than said turning to Captain Tayharna. "The Courts of Skyrim are not like those of noble Ulthaun. The intrigues that follow in suit from the bedchamber could incur a wrathful debt measured in blood. Just because we are in the Human lands doesn't mean their memories are so fickle that they can be used and discarded as playthings. This goes doubly so for our wayward kin." She paused, gazing at Captain Tayharna.

The silent judgment of her gaze coaxed a nod of agreement from him. "My Princess, Nenya does honor me with her passion and regard. I will not be fickle at its expense," he added before his face tightened a bit. "I've gained much insight I feel from this relationship," he then added as the Princess signaled for them to prepare to mount up and return to Solitude.

"That is good you have found at least one in all of Skyrim worthy of offering you that insight," Eldyra stated as she effortlessly swung atop her horse in mid sentence.

"There was-," Tayharna stated to speak.

"If you are speaking of that Bosmer bandit..."

He stopped speaking.

Princess Eldyra waited for one of the Rangers to take the lead, the other bringing up the rear, as she found herself finally alone with her thoughts whilst in the serenity of Skyrim's wilderness. When she heard of King Magnus' sudden boast of how he helped the Humans invade the Summerset Isles... bringing the Thalmor to heel, she had an almost visceral reaction of shock but thankfully kept it hidden away. Even a Human King with his renown, apparently proud of such an achievement, it was almost sickening. But of course King Magnus wouldn't understand. How could he? They were at War after all. It did also offer insight into the Human mind.

She doubted many of her kind could stomach the inherent myopia and queer boisterousness of these Humans for a long period of time, but she knew she had the temperance to do so. Though few of the other Asur clearly saw the value in her sullying her reputation by being amongst a Human court, much less one like Skyrim, she knew that in the long game, there was a payoff to be had both personally and for the noble Asur as a whole.

The War Against the Empire was just a wasteful exercise. Fighting for Elven Supremacy. Of course Elves were superior. Why elect to fight a wasteful War over the obvious with lesser races?

The scars of the Great Wars were deep, but the memory of them would fade in time. And as that legacy faded, the Humans hostility to Elvenkind would as well, the Thalmor adherents in particular but Elves in general. Perhaps forgiven... if not forgotten. She didn't want it forgotten. She would have to work to convince her lesser cousin kin that their future lay in their past. It laid in returning to noble Ulthaun. Living beside and even among them so long had proven deleterious to the Altmer as a whole, that much was clear to her. There were some exceptions of course, and this Altmer Steward Nenya was a fine example. Elves mingling with Humans should be avoided, unless one had a noble enough bearing and temperance to offer proper guidance to them.

It was almost ironic really. She found herself barely uttering a sigh. So many of her Highborn kin would think she was debasing herself here. But she just couldn't bring herself to care about her reputation. Plus for all of their flaws, she was fond of these rustic Humans. The ones in Skyrim in particular almost had a touch of the Hunters God within them. A small smile creeped across her face. Good Fathers then.

*30 Days Later.*

Skyrim was filled with hustle and bustle as the hours of the Royal Union was nigh. As the king had requested, people of all classes and races had gathered at the royal capital all of whom were dressed just as the king instructed. For those of the lower class it was jubilant as for a time, even if it was a short time, they were on the same equal footing as the noblemen.

Mangus however was running like a steed hyped up on coffee. After all, he had to make sure everything was perfect.
