Roleplay Choosing the Princess Bride to be RP

You are the King (or Queen) of some mid-tier Duchy or Province or lesser Kingdom that swears fealty to some powerful Emperor who rules over the Council of Electors (in which case you'd be one of them). Regardless your influential and you rule over a fairly stable and wealthy feudal regime. Alas, being on the frontier, your constantly under threat from Orc/ks, Trolls, Undead, and Pagan Hordes from the Eastern Steppe or Corsairs from the Southern Seas. Needless to say, without strong leadership, all of that stability is ephermal.

Thankfully you have a strong, noble, healthy and VIRILE male Heir to continue your noble line. He's a dutiful lad who despite finding it boring, pays attention to the lectures of the learned men and has proven himself capable on the tournament grounds, on various formal functions and visitations and has limited his abuse of the lowborn and other witless peasants to minor levels of prankery. Like good and proper young lads in High Fantasy settings, he's set off on a series of adventures, doing a little dungeon delving, a little monster slaying, brigand and pirate hunting and recently on his latest adventuring expedition, slew a Great Sea Troll Hag in single combat or something and rescuing a dozen ships from the Maelstorm. Pretty cool. Now that he's come of age... it's time to marry that fucker off and have them start making even littler Heirs. Also this marriage is meant to secure and enhance your own Kingdoms reputation, prestige, standing and hopefully stability and security.

And maybe... just maybe... you can take in your Heir's considerations as well. He's received reports of the potential Princess candidates to be sent for courtship and he has helpfully arranged them in order of who'd he'd wanna "court" 🤤 for your perusal.

In the Princes order...

1. Princess Aubrey (Currently Un-Nobled): "Her current occupation appears to be 'Grave Robber.' Information suggests she poisoned her previous wealthy husband after an arranged marriage who exposed her to years of neglect and abuse which maybe understandable, but this was also the time she engaged in the unsavory 'occupation' of grave robbing and dungeon delving. Our young Prince apparently adventured alongside this Rogue during his initial adventures, with her revealing her noble background around a campfire. While there's an obvious mutual attraction here, marrying her would provide little material benefit to the Kingdom and may cause predictable scandal as despite being of noble bearing, her career choice is certainly frowned upon in the least." - Chamberlain Notes.

"She's S-Tier for me. We've gone on so many adventures and bonded so much in person, unlike with the rest of the potential suitors. And most importantly, she was a Lady before and she's willing to be a Lady again for me. (Also I might have already impregnated her)" - Prince Notes.

2. Princess Merida of Dun Broch: "Merida is a princess by birth and an adventurer by a spirit. She spends her days practicing archery, riding her horse Angus, and exploring the world around her. She loves her family, but she wants to control her own destiny. She issued the offer of Courtship with the Enthusiastic Backing of all four Clans. She has heard words of his adventures and apparently wishes for a worthy companion as her betrothed. Compared to the Empire we serve, Dun Broch is underdeveloped and ungovernable so this could be a good segway into those lands populated by strong warriors resilient to all encroachments so far and strategically placed as well." - Chamberlain Notes

"I can't wait for us to get married! We're going to be married and riding together, our hair flowing in the wind as we ride through the glens, firing arrows into the sunset! She has a sexy accent too and said she'll teach me horse archery and how to kill a Demon Bear! Did I mention the red hair?" - Prince Notes

3. Queen Anna of Arendelle: "Arendelle is a small but prosperous Northern City State and the new Queen Anna is looking for a Suitor who won't murder her which shouldn't be a problem. Arendelle is strategically located in the North and could develop into a strong ally or more if we enter marriage into it. The nation itself isn't particularly powerful, though the Queen's sister is a powerful outlier. The Prince would likely be spending more time in Arendelle as opposed to here however which could complicate matters." - Chamberlain Notes.

"I heard she punched Prince Hans with a right hook, knocking him off the ship. His potentially being unconscious combined with the frigid water means he almost certainly died. That's hot... almost as hot as that long red hair of hers." - Prince Notes.

4. Fa Mulan of Chi-na: "Although not of nobility, she gained great acclaim for saving China from the Hun Invasion as well as other service to the Emperor of that far off land. She therefore has been elevated to the highest of noble status. She's expressed interest in the Young Lord, apparently attracted to capable military men and being of a military background herself. A betrothal to such a far off Lady would yield unknown benefits but they could be potentially bountiful, especially for trade and diplomacy." - Chamberlain Notes.

"Apparently she was dumped by some Chinese General for not being an actual clumsy soldier femboy twink. Sad. And gay. I am a tomboy respecter." - Prince Notes.

5. Princess Azula of the Fire Nation: "The Fire Nation is extremely powerful. They are also highly aggressive and expansionist. Closer ties to them would mean a great deal of help solving many of our own external problems, but could create more internal ones if not handled correctly. And Princess Azula, with all due respect, exhibits some very abrasive personality traits." - Chamberlain Notes.

"Father! Princess Azula just sent me a love letter after learning about my Sea Troll Hag Slaying. It says 'Together you and I will be the strongest couple in the entire world! We will DOMINATE THE EARTH!' She also says I dress sharp, so sharp that I could sunder the world, plunging it into a cataclysm comparable to the Awakening of Deathwing!" - Prince Notes.

6. Princess Moana of Motunui: "The Polynesian people of which she belongs to are on the other side of the World. Even farther then this Chi-na place but they're gifted seafarers and through correspondence have desired to open trade and diplomatic relations with us. Their peerless abilities at navigation and seamanship could offer untold benefits for our own merchant marine and commercial developments but the sheer distances involved would result in little other tangible benefit, at least in the foreseeable future." - Chamberlain Notes.

"My correspondence with her has stricken me with Yellow Fever and the only cure is a vacation in the Southern Seas." - Prince Notes.

7. Princess Elena of Jafari: "Jafari is a Kingdom in East Africa. So closer then our other candidates but still a fair bit away. Like our young Lord, Princess Elena is a warrior of great renown in her Kingdom. Details on Jafari are slim though its reputedly a place of great learning and quite cosmopolitan. Their daughter is well traveled, free spirited and very charming. It's unknown what benefits betrothal may offer however." - Chamberlain Notes.

"We went dancing at the Royal Ball and she taught me the basics of Capoeira. In return she showed interest in mastering the long spear... and this time I'm not even using sexual innuendo. Also I am told 'Black Don't Crack' which I assume is a positive trait. Did I mention she's like six feet tall?" - Prince Notes.

8. Princess Eldyra of Tiranoc: "On one hand, she's of the Asur, the long lived High Elven race of Ulthaun. On the other hand, she's the youngest daughter of her family and has little inheritance. A capable warrior, she was apparently rebuked by Ulthaun's Phoenix King which caused her great embarrassment and humiliation. As the daughter of a famous High Elf warrior named Eldyr, she apparently decided to go abroad to find her place in the World. For some reason, she has shown an interest in courting our young Lord. A marriage with her would prove unusual. Her kind can live for hundreds of years and her potential offspring would be likely longer lived as well if such a coupling does prove fruitful." - Chamberlain Notes.

"My Squire told me its not gay if its with an Elf. That's neither here nor there. I'm not sure the practicality of marrying an Elf but I am MORE THAN WILLING to marry a beautiful, fertile, Elf Princess who will never visibly age... for the good of the KINGDOM of course." - Prince Notes.

9. Princess Margaery of House Tyrell: "The Tyrells of Highgarden are an extremely influential, wealthy and connected family in Westeros. And Princess Margaery is reputably one of the most beautiful women of the Seven Kingdoms. Securing a marriage with them will provide an economic boon for us as well as legitimize our our Kingdom in diplomatic affairs with House Tyrell backing us in our endeavors. We'd also have the benefit of them being beholden to us due to our superior military. Furthermore Westeros is close by unlike some of our suitors and would be seen as a perfectly sensible and wise courtship. Conversely, Westerosi politics are a mess which could be hazardous to invest in. But Westerosi and our own Imperial nobles lineages are still closely intertwined." - Chamberlain Notes.

"My Warden told me its not gay if its with a Tyrell. Also neither here nor there. I mean I won't turn down a pretty face, and she is very classic Princessy." - Prince Notes.

10. Princess Aranessa Saltspite of Sartosa: "The stories about her being the daughter of the God of the Seas Manaan may very well be true, but this self styled Pirate Queen seems erratic at best. She's a woman of few words and has about as much mirth as the North Sea. Our Prince rescued her from the Maelstorm after slaying the great Sea Troll Hag. In return she has stated she will pledge herself into a Union with our Young Lord in exchange for support of liberating Sartosa from her rivals (who just happen to be our Rivals in the Seas as well) and if true, would secure the safety of our commerce for at least a generation to come if only to fulfill her debt but... she's also a pirate." - Chamberlain Notes.

"When I saw her in combat, I was almost able to look past the fish jaw, scaly skin and lack of lower extremities. But when I saw her smile at me as we stood on the forecastle of the ship admiring the sunset, I realized then and there... I can fix her. 😏" - Prince Notes.

And remember this is a ranking... though I might add a poll later. I dunno.

It's safe to assume that everyone here if not detailed already, has expressed interest in the young Prince (who I guess has game like an anime Pornomancer or something) and a genuine desire to court him without stabbing him in the back for reasons of convenience. And while he ranked the choices himself, he's more than open to marrying any of the potential Princesses on the list.

Ok like Kings Art I'm going to respond to these in character. and @Husky_Khan if it's ok with you, I'd like to see my character's son's response to this, as my character would be up for a debate. I'll make my responses in order

1. Princess Aubrey: *Spits out mead let's out a violent cough and starts beating my chest.*

"Well son *clears thought* I think by many societal standards if you impregnated her it means you two are married anyway. We aren't beholden to such laws but still....with that out of the way let me try to address my thoughts on her."

Grave Robbing" *Pfft* My boy, before I was a king Dungeon Delving and tomb looting was how I made my living. Back then we called it Adventuring. Heck even after becoming king I did that kind of thing as a holiday getaway up until you were born. The nobles maybe clutching their pearls, but it's a nonissue

Poisoning her husband: I don't know much about the situation but from what little I know it wasn't pretty. Your situation is different though as she obviously likes you. As long as you continue to love her as you love yourself you should be fine.

Political benefits: One thing I want you to be aware. You will have people scoff at you and mock you because of this woman's history. Your rivals will use her to slander you and try to drag you down your prestige will go down and it will be an uphill battle to try and build it back up, but at the end of the day the ones that have to live with that are you and her not them. If your concern is prestige then do not marry her, if you don't care about such things, then don't let anyone stop you.

As far as alliances go: I personally could take it or leave it. It'll make things harder sure, we'd be in no worse a situation than we currently are.

Overall: if you are willing to take a hit to your prestige, I think she'd make a fine wife. but let's go over the othe options before making a final decision.

Princess Merida: "*watches her handle a bow and let's out a Wolf whistle.* Remember when we need to look at all the suitors before making a decision? Case and point. dang she's good with a bow. Between her looks and the way she presents herself. She honestly reminds me of your mother. See that look in her eyes? that look tells me that if she can find an equal, she'd be as good in bed as she is with a bow. Considering that you both have a thirst for adventure that'll give you something to bond over. You two can go dungeon delving together.

Political benefits: Honestly the political benefits are what intrigue me most. With this marriage backed by all of the clans we'd be able to peacefully unite into a single independent empire that would have to answer to no one but ourselves, something that I greatly desire. That being said this isn't about my own personal desires and political ambitions. This is about finding you a wife. "

Overall: I will say if you want my advice. So far of the two I think she'd make a great wife, potentially even better than Aubrey. the only thing Aubrey has on Merida is personal history with you and I don't think that would be hard to develop but we still have other suitors to go through.

Queen Anna: "Eh....I'm not sure about this one. Nothing against her as a person. I'm sure she'd make a great wife but her kingdom is far away, and you'd be spending more time there than you would here, which could lead to a revolt and civil war. "

Overall: I strongly advise against this union. the potential cost would far outweigh the benefits.

Fa Mulan: "Li Shang sleeps with feminine men? ....huh, ok then.

This is another woman that reminds me of your mother. While she's not royal in her own right she sits at the right hand of the Jade Dragon and has his ear. it'd give us a powerful ally for both military and trade, plush she seems strong I'd imagine you two would have a lot of fun together. plus you'd have a lot of bragging rights...how many men would be able to say their wives forced back a horde of barbarians eh? Hahaha!"

Overall: I don't have much to say about this one. She's a solid choice.

Princess Azula

"No I am laying my foot down on this one. I absolutely forbid you from marrying this woman. Let me try to explain why. I know a lot about this woman. Yes, she's powerful, she may be crazy in bed even. But she is a cruel manipulative psychopathic harpy. Even when she was young without her father's influence, she always saw those around her as tools. She may not kill you, she'll just make sure you are completely under her boot She'll raise your children to be against you and both you and them will be nothing more than puppets. Please believe me I've seen these kinds of rulers before. She will bring you nothing but ruin.

Besides, you yourself haven't said anything to indicate you like her, you just said what she wrote to you. Aside from her ability to bend fire, there is nothing this woman can give you that the previous maidens could not."

Overall: You are going to have to give me a heck of an argument to change my mind. My mind is firm on this. Unless you can give me an argument worthy of the Greek Philosophers, I will not give you my blessing with this woman.

Princess Moana: "Oh my boy you disappoint me...that's a horrible pickup line! As far as the girl herself goes, I admire her sailing skills, but her personality wise she seems rather...plain. I'm not convinced you two are truly compatible. Though I will admit that friend of hers that claims to be a demi-god would prove to be a valuable ally. Plus, there would be trade benefits. but I'm certain this marriage would purely be political."

Overall: "It'd be a solid political alliance but I don't see it going beyond that. If that is ok with you I'll support you but much like with Princess Anna, I advise against this union."

Princess Elena: Oh I've seen some of the matriarchs of in Africa I know EXACTLY what the phrase "Black don't crack means." And yes she's clearly of blood, what little I know about her Kingdom is that it has some of the best minds in the world. Thier knowledge of medicine and philosophy is second to none and it'd greatly increase our influence in Africa and I'm sure you will produce a strong heir male or female. I don't know how well street fighting would translate to street fighting, but if you desire her I will be more than happy to bless your union.

Princess Eldyra: The issue I have here is that these elves are not very fertile and she will long outlast you short of a magical miracle. With no real viable way to produce an heir and a huge gap in lifespan difference. I don't believe it'd be a very strong or beneficial union.

Overall: I'm not actively hostile towards the potential union but I'm not for it.

Princess Margaery: She's got all of the worst aspects of Azula and she doesn't even have any powers. Even if she doesin't kill try to kill you her siblings will. I will not let you get involved in Westerosi's....barbaric politics. In fact at first opportunity, I plan on burning all of thier houses and thier iron throne to the ground.

Overall: Not an option end of discussion. Margaery offers nothing that the other princess cannot.

Princess Aranessa Saltspite: "*sigh*boy let me tell you of women like this. She will give you a fling, but at the end of the day her heart belongs to the sea. She will break your heart. She will not make a good wife for you or a good mother for your children. Even all that aside. Based on her conditions for marriage this reads off as little more than a political alliance and frankly a rather weak one. What happens when you or your children die? She'll just go back to her old ways. Believe me son. You can't change a woman like that and you'll only break you're heart trying."

Overall: I'll see what I can do about forming an alliance with her as I do think she can prove to be a valuable ally. But for your own sake please do not accept a union with her.

Alright my boy, now that we've gone through them all I'll give you my most recommended to my least recommended. my recommendations will be based on a scale of 10, 10 being the highest with reasons why. If you don't agree with me then I will be willing to hear your arguments.

Princess Merida S-Tier 10

She has all of the positive traits of Aubrey with none of the potential scandal or loss of prestige, not only that but the backing of the 4 clans would grow our kingdom large enough to where we can brake away and become completely independent. I believe that this would be the absolute best union for strengthening our kingdom. While you don't have the history and attachment with Merida that you do with Aubrey I have no doubt that will quickly change. I see a very happy and fruitful marriage that will bring nothing but happiness for the both of you and our kingdoms.

If I haven't made it clear, I view this to be the golden union, but my judgment is neither absolute or perfect, but this will be the union I recommend most.

Princess Aubrey: A-Tier 9

The Kingdom's prestige will take a hit. there is no avoiding that. This marriage also has no political benefits. BUT I know you two have a well established relationship with each other and I'm sure you two will be happy. You already have a secure heir. (Legetimizing him or her would be no issue at all.) While I think Merida is by far the best choice overall, if you decide to marry Aubrey I will gladly bless your union.

Princess Elena: A-Tier 9

Good blood means good heirs and access to Africa will prove to be very useful. My only concern is if your adventuring will mesh well with her. But this is another union I will gladly bless.

Fa Mulan: B-Tier 8

She gives us access to a powerful ally. She's not exactly my first choice but she'd be a good union that I would support nonetheless.

Princess Moana C-Tier 6.5: Impressed by her and her people's sailing skills, but I'm just not convinced you two are a good match. Still, there would be benefits and I see no harm in blessing such a union.

Princess Eldyra: D-list 6

I don't see this being a good match for you, especially with no guarantee of an heir. but if you do manage to produce an hier I see no reason not to bless your union.

Queen Anna: F-Tier 5

Considering that you would cease to be king of our land in all but name this is a union I do not recommend at all even if Arendelle itself would prove to be beneficial.

Princess Aranessa Saltspite: F-Tier 3

She will do far more harm to you than good. You won't be able to change her.

Princess Azula & Princess Margaer: Forbidden

I feel as if I said my peace on these two. These are Unions I will not bless period, short of a very darn good argument.

These are my thoughts boy. Please, say your peace.

{rough draft, not proofread lol)

The Prince took several long moments to himself, taking it all in contemplation before glancing at the Chamberlain, as he stood off to the side, pouring over a stack of correspondence. He did little to hide his reactions, albeit still muted, from his Father as he laid out his reasons for approval or disapproval of the various suitors and at the end, there seemed to be a good sign, mainly that there was still color animating the young Prince's face.

"So truly... you are fine with Lady Aubrey or Princess Merida?" he finally said, noting that those were his two top selections as well though... ultimately, he had to admit... he might've been thinking of the Kingdom when arranging the list. At least for every selection beneath that of Aubrey. "She's my warrior woman," the Prince then said with a calm confidence. "We purged the Manor of Crawling Chaos, delving into the Darkest of Dungeons, slaying sirens and cultists, and confronting the Heart of Darkness itself," he said with a self assured smile. When I first took my quest, pledging to rid the lands of banditry and corruption, I was well trained but lacked experience. Like an apprentice as opposed to a proper Knight. The two of us, we met early, bonded in the dungeons, and... grew from our experiences."

He paused, glancing over at the Chamberlain who had a dour look, but when their eyes met, he visibly softened. The Prince assumed he would have sterner words for Aubrey but did not as the Prince turned back to his Father. "I know that it wouldn't provide any 'material' advantage to the province. That there'd be slander leveled against us but, she told me of her background freely. We trusted each other on those adventures... and the ones that followed. Also... I think... I know... she's matured as a person as well. Neither of us are as naive as we once were. And... I know with her at my side, we can take on all comers."

"Princess Merida-," the Chamberlain then said, dragging out the name, as if not expecting to finish his sentence.

Knowingly or not, the Prince took the bait and interjected. "Oh... Merida is wonderful. My two visits on Dun Broch simply weren't long enough. I wish I could've spent more time with her. Like a proper adventure. But I know we share similar passions. And... I know it's bad luck to say such, but I can see a reflection in her in my own Mother. Speaking of which, her Mother is doting and dutiful. But loving. So is her Father. They are a good family, their people a bit... rustic. But they know of honor, a warriors code. Tribal bonds, like we were in the old times."

"Tribal politics can often be a quagmire," the Chamberlain duly noted.

"Oh and they're fiercely independent. But like you said Father," the Prince then said in a slightly accented voice, almost taking on a Dun Broch accent for a moment before realizing it and correcting himself. "She's not the Queen. She could be with us." He paused a moment and then glanced around the Great Hall a bit. "Perhaps not spending all of her time here of course," he said, recognizing how much more urbane his Homeland was over Dun Broch. "But you know what I mean. I'm glad you find merit in the decision. As for the politics, well... we all had to start somewhere. They got just a little bit more to go. I do think they'd be strong allies. I certainly don't think we'd be... ah... drawn into Dun Broch politics. If anything, they'd have to worry about ours."

The Chamberlain glanced down, perhaps hiding a nod. "Queen Anna of Arendelle?"

"Oh she's a lovely woman. She seems like a proper Lady... and she truly is. But... she has a sense of adventure in her. Or at least, she's not afraid of it. But I thought Father, that having her as a potential suitor... it would be pleasing to you. I loved my time spent in Arendelle even though we never left the Royal grounds. It was all balls and dances and fancy dinners, which is fine, I love them. And I know she'd be a worthy Lady and Wife. She's already a fine Queen."

"Does that magic run in their bloodline?" the Chamberlain then asked.

The Prince paused, catching himself mid work and shook his head. "Didn't even occur to me. Honestly from what I've heard, it doesn't seem like a blessing even though she speaks highly of her sister. But while I loved my time meeting with her, and our correspondence is lively, I would actually agree that Aubrey and Merida are more of a match for me. And again I didn't even think of the political ramifications of marrying a Queen so far away as opposed to a Princess."

"Your Father is in good health. It is not as pressing an issue... but an issue it is. In time, there could be other solutions that rise," the Chamberlain then stated. "Or compromises to be made," he positively rationalized.

"Yes but... with all due respect, I do think highly of Anna but, I would much prefer the prior two suitors," the Prince then said, her lips curling at the corner of her mouth slightly, still beaming with the approval of her top two choices.

"And the others? Fa Mulan? She's an important Advisor to the Jade Emperor of China."

"We've never met but, she responded to my correspondence when I heard tales of her defeat of the Huns. I would love to meet a Woman who rose to such a station through merit alone. I do think we'd be compatible but she would have to come to us I suppose and while she seemed to love the idea, it is a very long distance," the Prince said, speaking a bit rationally.

"From what I've learned, the two of you would be a match on your adventures or on campaign as well," the Chamberlain then said.

The Prince nodded. "Someday I would love to go there and meet her. Or bring her here to meet us. Or even both. But while I'd love to pursue her, I do feel that having a relationship with such a wonderful woman could be beneficial on its own. Maybe we could fight the Huns together."

"Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. The Fire Nation's capabilities aren't known, but they likely eclipse any single Imperial Province. Especially in the maritime realm which is a pillar of our economy," the Chamberlain then said.

"The Fire Nation wouldn't be as much a problem if I was to wed the Daughter of Manaan herself," the Prince reasoned, as the Chamberlain rolled his eyes.

"She was at the bottom of your list, this Aranessa... and as your Father says, her betrothal would draw us into a potential War," the Chamberlain said sagely while noticing the Prince had shifted the discussion away from Azula entirely.

"She's at the bottom of my list because she's a mutant, a pirate and... well that's enough. I know neither of you can see it, could see it but..." the Prince said with a slow exhalation. "When the Redguard Corsair happened to unleash a Maelstrom spell upon our little flotilla... well it took us by surprise. Not only that the Redguards were going to use magic, but in such a suicidal manner. Aranessa... she... sailed her ship out of the flotilla, took the sailing master station alone and had her crew fire chainshot into the Redguards flagship, her vessel skimming the very edges of the whirlpool, somehow cutting through the counterwaves. And when that wasn't enough, she rammed the Redguard carrack, sheared it along the side like the galleys of old and gave it a gentle love shove into the current. Into its own fomented demise. It was masterful sailing."

"We have to," the Prince then said, forming shapes out of his hands. "We had to go with the Whirlpool to come upon them. She was standing on the deck, practically guiding us in to lash them abroad. She leaped, artificial legs and all, onto our vessel and sailed us both out of that Maelstrom. She said I saved her and... well I guess I did. Aubrey was there, she told me that whenever I turned away from Aranessa on our return trip that... she was gazing at me. It wasn't until the following morning that I rose early and saw her standing on the forecastle. I could see the Daughter of a God then. And that's when she told me of her proposal and... honestly in that moment, it was so surreal, so tranquil... I looked past all of the rest of it. I was genuinely intrigued."

The Prince paused, nodding his head side to side. "Then Aubrey said if we got hitched, then she herself could become the new Pirate Queen of Sartosa instead."

"Well that would solve one issue," the Chamberlain interjected smartly.

The Prince paused, taken aback for a moment before smiling. "Listen... I know it's not going to happen Father. Don't worry. I won't marry a mutant. But... I do think she's a Daughter of a God."

"So is this Princess Moana is she not?" the Chamberlain asked.

"She's... so...no. They've best friends.... look so..." the Prince paused. "After we returned to Sartosa, Aubrey and I continued our adventures on the Sea hunting pirates. It was after we struck a hidden anchorage for this group of Umbar Corsairs that we found their secret lagoon was actually built on an old ruins. Which was impressive. The anchorage was deadly. Like barely more a sandbar. But that is where we found the most curious megalithic tomb. It was a miracle when we moved the cover stone and found the most interesting symbols and pictograms on the interior of this chamber. Aubrey and the others were able to decipher the pictograms and a spell was conjured. And that's when I met the other God of the Sea... Maui." The Prince smirked. "He actually had an origin similar to Aranessa but... don't worry, I'm not thinking of marrying him."

"Thank you," the Chamberlain said.

"Your welcome," the Prince then said sharply. "Anyways... long story short, we were able to get him out of the predicament that got him over here on the other side of the world. And when a God asks you what reward you want, you always know its best to be humble. So I just asked for his friendship. Instead, since Aubrey tells everyone this, he knew I was single and a Prince so he taught me a simple incantation that allowed me to contact who he assured, was the finest Princess in all of the World Oceans. Now all I need is a pool or jug of salt water and I can contact her if she's near a similar body of water. We've been talking a fair bit ever since. And I've already learned a lot about her people and vice versa. The distances involved would be incredible but, the amount of the world that could be opened up to us, her people are apparently aware of China and the Fire Nation... but from the other side of the world... It's certainly possible and it could benefit us commercially but I do think we have more in common than you would perhaps think initially Father. She's... she inspired her people to becoming explorers again. She has that adventurers heart and yet a leaders sensibility and vision."

The Chamberlain flipped through the pages now. "And Elena of Jafaari."

"Elena's wonderful. She's strong and smart and powerful. Our children would be numerous and just as strong as us," the Prince said, using few words... but that seemed to be enough. "I met her when she visited our Court. I convinced her embassy to stay a little longer. I had to spar with her and poke her brain while she was with us. Her people are quite cosmopolitan. In spite of that... or perhaps because of it, she really likes to travel. It's a wanderlust I can admire. And she seems so positive and straightforward and full of energy, that its infectious."

"And Princess Eldyra of Tiranoc?"

The Prince frowned. "I wish... I wish I had an answer for your worries Father but I don't. I doubt she does either. I think that's why she's so forlorn. She's a Princess and a Warrior of the High Elves and yet she came here and after meeting me, she thought me worthy of betrothal despite... all of our differences. I think she'd be very beneficial to our Kingdom, believe me. And I think her sense of duty and honor is even stronger considering how their bonds have to last generations. But I don't want to endanger our Kingdom if I can't produce issue with her though..." he cleared his throat. "I'm sure I am more than capable of such, make no mistake."

"Well... the potential for infertility could be investigated. I'm sure there are potential solutions to that," the Chamberlain then said, as the Prince shrugged and smiled.

"Do you think a Half Elven Heir would be a stabilizing influence Father? Especially with such a potentially long lived Queen Mother? Though I doubt she's one who would perpetually spend time in court. She is a Knight like myself ultimately and would prefer the saddle to the throne."

"And then... there is Princess Maegaery Tyrell," the Chamberlain then said.

"The few times I met her at Court, she fawned over me. Her Brother Loras defeated me in the Joust of course," the Prince said, rolling his eyes slightly. "She actually took a moment debating whether to congratulate him or provide some comforting words to me. She's actually really sweet... and I do think she's one of the most beautiful ladies in the Seven Kingdoms... if not the most beautiful. Perfect Princess. Perfect Wife. But..." the Prince sighed. "I don't know if she could even know how to operate a crossbow."

Magnus Dragonborn (Yes I'm doing a Skyrim playthrough deal with it suckas!) smiled wider and wider as he heard his son speak of all the adventures that he had done with Aubrey. "That's my boy! In a few years You'll be as tough as me, and truly don't let political intrique have so much influence it clouds your judgment. Any political benefits are an extra benefits not a necessity.

Princess Merida-," the Chamberlain then said, dragging out the name, as if not expecting to finish his sentence.

Knowingly or not, the Prince took the bait and interjected. "Oh... Merida is wonderful. My two visits on Dun Broch simply weren't long enough. I wish I could've spent more time with her. "Tribal politics can often be a quagmire," the Chamberlain duly noted.

*"Blast it son. You're not going to make this easy."* Magnus thought. Part of him wanted to giggle. it was probably for the best. marrige was a decision not to be taken lightly.

"Of all of the civilizations we're are talking about here Dun Broch and its neighbors are kindred to us Nords in Spirit, again morso than our actual kin in Westeros. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if we shared ancestors once upon a time.

"Oh and they're fiercely independent. But like you said Father," the Prince then said in a slightly accented voice, almost taking on a Dun Broch accent for a moment before realizing it and correcting himself. "She's not the Queen. "Don't I know it." Magnus grumbled under his breath he knew all too well of the political conflicts he had with the different jarls within the different Duchies Within Skyrim. I have a feeling her father and I will get along with each other just find. Some of the other Jarls and noblemen...not so much. but I'll definitely try to smooth over things as much as possible if things need to come to that."

He still wanted to bite his lip. Skyrim wasn't a polygamous nation nor did their religion support it nor did it allow for mistrisses or concubines, and they were still 2/2 not to mention the other suitors will still on the table.
The Chamberlain glanced down, perhaps hiding a nod. "Queen Anna of Arendelle?"

"Oh she's a lovely woman. She seems like a proper Lady... and she truly is. But... she has a sense of adventure in her. Or at least, she's not afraid of it. I'll see what I can do about appointing some ambassador but I agree I think it'd be best just to remain freinds. I will admit I would be interested in facing her sister in a sparing match." 2/3 things were starting to get easier.

And the others? Fa Mulan? She's an important Advisor to the Jade Emperor of China."

"We've never met but, she responded to my correspondence when I heard tales of her defeat of the Huns. I would love to meet a Woman who rose to such a station through merit alone. "I actually keep in contact with the Jade Dragon I've been to China only once but I know the emperor put me in high esteem because I am dragonborn. He not only does he know of the Thu'um he's studdied it and knows a couple of shouts. in fact in his younger years he actually took a pilgramige to High Hrothgar and studied under Paarthurnax whom thinks well of him. I'll write to him and ask if maybe Mulan would be interested in being China's ambassador for Skyrim. I'd gladly fight alongside The Jade Dragon. (The Chinese Emperor's nickname) This could be a very good union IF you two turn out to have a lot in common."

Blast it this was not really going anywhere.

Part 1 of 2...

Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. The Fire Nation's capabilities aren't known, but they likely eclipse any single Imperial Province. Especially in the maritime realm which is a pillar of our economy," the Chamberlain then said.

"Wait wait wait wait, let me go ahead and clear the air on something. I'm not concerned about what Aranessa looks like on the outside. Worst can scenario I can have my mages and surgeons heal her should she need it or desire it. It's just you said that she was a mutant and a pirate and I immediately assumed that she was a Daedra worshiper (Or a Choas worshiper as the greater empire called them) I just don't want you to suffer the heartbreak of being so closely bound with someone only for her to leave you in the name of her god and leaving you to be separated from her both in life AND for eternity in the Lifeafter. That was a misplaced assumption on my part and for that, I apologize. I know for a fact that you have the gift of soul and you can see people as they truly are. If you looked inside her and truly saw the a demi-goddess, a goddess of the sea in the making AND she truly means it about making it work.... that potentially changes everything. and it'd be a union I'd gladly accept IF that's whom you want."

The Dragonborn could practically feel the Chamberlain's dirty leer. "That IS my judgment on the matter. Please respect it."

"Wait Maui?!?" When Moana's father mentioned his daughter's friend in the letter he never actually gave a name. The fact that said friend was Maui put A LOT of things into perspective. A grin came across Magnus's face. "Him I do know about. We had a sparing match that lasted 3 days solid. It ended up being a tie. When her dad talked about her friend that claimed to be a demi-god I just assumed it was a lookalike trying to cash in."

He then pulled out a couple of colored paintings that the chieftain sent of his daughter from more recently. "is this what she looked like?"

Magnus started to crack up. "Um...boy. Maui is over 9 ft tall....which means judging by this picture...SHE'S OVER SEVEN AND A HALF FEET TALL! (OOC: apparently this is in fact true) Based on her physique she's not exactly petite either. If she is friends with Maui of all people and Moana does have the connection to the sea that Maui says that she does, the gods may be preparing her to BECOME a goddess of the sea. You sure she wouldn't be more woman than you could handle?" he grinned he was partial joking partial serious

he then turned to his Chamberlain. " "I guess I owe my scouts an apology. no wonder they referred to that island as a land of Sea Giants. I'm sorry I had my doubts." and just like that Princess Moana went from closer to the bottom of the Dragonborn's approval list to within the top three if not the top two. He also made a note to himself that if and when his son went to those islands he was going to travel with him."

Magnus nodded. He really didn't have anything else to say on that front. she'd be a solid choice. Although now he was potentially seeing her as a sort of lesser version of Moana strictly physically speaking.

Magnus bit his lip. "That presents another problem I didn't think of till just now. The people of Skyrim don't exactly have the best relationship with High Elves because of the Thalmor. I think so long as you were alive It wouldn't cause an issue but I'm not sure if they'd accept your heir or their mother afterward and that's assuming you two wouldn't be infertile together. I don't know, there is just so many unanswered questions that could have dire consequences"

Magnus hated that for the both of them. it sounded like this elven woman would have made for a fine daughter-in-law. He and Elisif clearly needed to look at having more sons to give all these lovely ladies someone to wed.

But..."

"...not perfect for you?" Magnus asked finishing his son's break.

the Prince sighed. "I don't know if she could even know how to operate a crossbow."

"The people of Westeros were once nords like us but over generations, they just sorta...lost their roots. They traded honor for intrigue, and courage for treachery. That pathetic excuse of "sparing" they call jousting is a mockery of their ancestors. They are milk drinkers in the truest spirit of the phrase." he then sighed. "I don't want you to be involved in Westeros politics, but if she is as noble as you claim I don't want her to be wasted in Westeros either. Maybe we can convince her to move to Skyrim, and get her back in touch with her ancestorial roots. Even if she's not a good match for you maybe she'll be a good match for someone else."

he still wasn't 100% sure about her. Even if she liked the prince genuinely there was no telling how she'd be with someone else. There still wasn't much progress made overall so far. While Princess Anna, Azura and maybe Maegaery were removed from the table, there were other suitors that moved up the rank as far as approval went. There were still 7/10 possibly 8/10 suitors still well in the running and only one could be married to the prince. Blast it why did Magnus's son have to be so naturally charming? "By the Nine Divine!" Magnus shouted before quickly grumbling under his breath. "This would be a whole lot easier if these suitors were your simple noblewomen, but no they had to be some of the most powerful women on the planet, at least two of them potentially god-tier!"

He then gave a nervous grin. "Well, boy I'll give you credit when you go big you REALLY go big." It was a genuine compliment even if it was a double edged sword in this case. "The question is...how are we going to narrow things down?"

Hey I like this, I'll respond to each one in character. But just a question. If we pick an option does the rest of the universe come along? Like say the Asur does that mean that all of Warhammer and chaos also? Or is it just what is stated here?
Anyway I wouldn't pick directly for my son, he will be king/duke after me, and he needs to think about this so his input will be 90% of this, it's also to test him to think on how he will handle rule when he is in charge. However I will exorcise veto options.

Also my son's pretty cool who is my wife? Was she a bad ass tomboy waifu?

1. "Veto I'm sorry my son, but you might be surprised at my reasons, she does have noble title so that is ok even if it is minor. As for being a grave robber that is bad also, but could also be papered away with me by being euphemistic about it, call her an adventurer or dungeon delver. No the issue is that she poisoned her previous husband. I understand that she claims he was abusive towards her, and if so then perhaps it was justified. However poison is very serious, if she merely killed him to profit herself then I can not take the risk of tying her to your life, and our dynasty. The fact she is pregnant is a problem, I do not want to separate you from your own child, and I want your child to know it's father and grandfather. But the mother if she is self serving can use this to eliminate you and use the child to her bennefit to take the realm? I can think of two solutions, I'm leaning towards one, do you have any ideas of your own?"

The Prince glanced over at the Chamberlain who simply looked nonplussed as the King laid out the reasons why Aubrey would not be suitable but waited for the King to finish. "Father, I placed my life in her hands more than a few times in our adventures, and I her as well. We bolstered each other when others would give into despair facing the darkness we confronted. I will admit that... I know it looks bad. But she confessed that she was a Lady during our adventures and later on told me of her prior betrothal and how she started on the rogueish path I encountered her on."

"Was this confession of murder done prior to perhaps, mortal combat with a lethal adversary?" the Chamberlain then tried to delicately ask.

The Prince paused, then frowned a bit as he realized what an analytic mind the Chamberlain possessed. "Yes. But we've accompanied each other on adventures subsequently and she's given no reason for me to question my trust in her. I don't... I know... she wouldn't eliminate me to benefit herself. I feel she suffered an indignity that put her on a potential path to selfishness... but together, we corrected that course. She might be a Lady in name only and perhaps not suitable as a future Queen, but there is a reason why I find more affection and affinity with her then anyone else on the list."

2. "Princess Merrida is fine, I obviously would rank other options higher based on my personal preference for looks, or that their realms are more valuable. But again you are selecting your wife so your preferences are what matter, and if you think that the alliance will be useful that you could bring their clans into the empire or our kingdom when you take the throne I will not gainsay you as long as it is logical."

"Thank you Father," the Prince then said. "I do not know if the choice is logical but I feel that we match well in the time I spent at Dun Broch. We possess a great deal in common and at the very least, I know she is a Woman who can keep up with me... and I can keep up with her and we can both be happy together. I couldn't speak to bringing their Clans into the Empire, but I think they would be steadfast allies if we stay true to them as well."

3. "Queen Anna, would probably be my choice, hmm you see her as redheaded? I thought she was brunette, but yes she is cute, seems reasonable, and she has a rich realm that would nice."

"Arendelle is a lovely town nestled in the middle of the North. It's almost idyllic compared to its environs. And Queen Anna has a sensibility that matches her beauty and grace. I just hope I can pull her away from Arendelle enough to serve by my side as Queen of both of our realms when I take the throne."

4. "Mulan well she is exotic, I too enjoy tomboys my son, again I don't have an objection. If you think we can learn, or trade, or bennefit with closer ties to the orient I will trust your judgment."

"Her tales are impressive and her sense of honor and duty have smitten me as much as her mirth and poise. Even though she may not be noble of birth, she is noble in bearing and has the ear of the Emperor of Chi-na. Apparently she's even mentioned my name to him before, which is certainly something I wouldn't of ever contemplated when I sent my first correspondence to her."

5. "Veto, also you said what she said, not your thoughts I'm worried that she is put so high up on your preferences. Son let me tell you while crazy in the head means crazy in the bed, same reason I won't allow you to marry the first woman applies here. I'd rather my son not get killed by his wife for a slight."

"She does seem rather... passionate Father," the Prince said. "She was the one that initiated correspodence with me but after hearing of her noble bearing and standing, as well as how that passion awkwardly flowed onto the letters she wrote to me, I must admit I was rather smitten by her attention. Plus the formidability and prowess of the Fire Nation and its force of arms is known across the world I feel. Perhaps that guided my gaze as well. Mayhaps you are right and that it's just a haze of youthful attraction."

6. "Princess Moana I don't know anything about these people I thought they were primative, but again I will trust your judgement. Though I will say that if you catch yellow fever I would have thought Mulan would have been your cure."

The Prince blinked, looking confused a bit when the Chamberlain interjected. "Yellow Fever as in the attraction to those of the Orient my Prince."

"Oh..." the Prince said. "I thought it was a reference to the maidens of these tropical isles. Regardless, I do feel that there is an attraction there. I have not yet met her personally but I did have my journals of my adventures when I met the Demigod Maui who, managed to find a way to introduce each other through a simple scrying enchantment.

7. "I also don't know what that term black don't crack means. Anyway you said this African nation is educated and cosmopolitian? I have no objections then."

"It's a reference to how, despite living in such sun baked conditions that are characteristic of the Southern Lands, they don't seem to show the age in spite of living in such an arid climate," the Chamberlain helpfully interjected.

"Yes. Elena told me that phrase. She is quite whimsical and free spirited. And her energetic spirit was quite infectious. One would almost assume she was a bit of a shallow maiden, but when I engaged her in conversation, she was more than easy at discussing topics at length with me and others of the Court when her Embassy visited us. My only reservation of course, is that we've only met so briefly and I have little knowledge of her homeland. But I am pleased you find no problem with a potential betrothal between us."

8. I ask the chamberlin
"Umm how gay are elves?"
"Right son, I'm leaning towards no to the elf, but I am willing to be convinced otherwise if you can put a good argument and plan for how succession would apply? How long do half elves live? Are they fertile? If you can show that the realm would be stable and that the child being long lived won't lead to chaos I'll give my blessing."

The Chamberlain paused a moment, considering his King's question. "As far as I know, the Elves are no more prone to sword swallowing then any other realm generally speaking. It maybe as a result of their libertine culture and society combined with their long lives that perhaps such... engagements, are often seen as more acceptable. There is also the charge that the differences between the males and females of the Elven races are less distinct then those of our own races, both physically and indeed... culturally."

"Sounds like you said they aren't gay, then... kinda leaned into how they are kind of gay," the Prince replied with a sarcastic wariness, eyeing the Chamberlain with a false veneer of seriousness. The Chamberlain remained stoically silent as the Prince sighed. "I should... talk with her. She approached me about potential courtship and I must say... I found the thought of marrying an Elven Princess rather exciting. But the reason she was so low on my list was because... well... the more I thought about it, the more potential issues there could be around such a pairing. I must admit I am unaware of even how long our progeny may live. She is still here, so I will go and inquire to her as to your... ah.... our concerns when I can."

9. "Princess Margaery, no male Tyrells are gay. Anyway this princess is also ok, an acceptable choice."

"Yes I heard the most horrible rumors when I traveled beyond the Reach, scandalous ones about how the male Tyrells are supposedly 'sword swallowers' as they say in Westerosi." The Prince shook his head in dismay. "The amount of gossip and intrigue in Westerosi courts somehow eclipses that of the Imperial ones. I can say with confidence though that Princess Margaery is every bit the Princess and really impressed upon me what a lovely bride she would be for me and the many benefits of our realms drawing closer together. The Reach is apparently quite wealthy and the Tyrells the wealthiest and most powerful family of their Kingdom."

"Son that you are seriously entertaining this makes me worry for your sanity. Fish people. Honestly, the chamberlain was correct, our enemies are her enemies. Is she willing to just have a normal alliance, or to accept a letter of marque, or a promise that we won't interfere in her pirate activities and in exchange she won't hunt our shipping? That seems acceptable. But marriage is not, sorry son veto."

"Alright son besides those 3 vetos you can choose any woman you want."

"I understand Father. I would be lying to myself if I didn't bring her to your attention however. She maybe a mutant but there is more to her than that. She is the Daughter of Manaan and I've seen her in battle and stewarding a ship. In the latter especially, she's unparalleled. She would be a powerful ally regardless... even if I agree she may not be a suitable Wife for me."

He paused a moment as the Chamberlain looked at the Prince expectantly as the Prince realized the choice was upon him. "Well... Father... I know it is not your first choice but I do feel that..." he paused a moment, his thoughts dwelling on Aubrey. He would have to confront her about this but realized he wouldn't challenge his Father on this. To be a Sovereign one had to put the welfare of the Kingdom over the desires of the King. "I would like to extend and accept the proposal of Princess Merida of the Clan Dunbroch."

I'll see what I can do about appointing some ambassador but I agree I think it'd be best just to remain freinds. I will admit I would be interested in facing her sister in a sparing match." 2/3 things were starting to get easier.

"Well..." the Prince said. "I feel uncertain with Mulan. I am certain if and when I do meet her, we will find we have a great deal in common and much affinity, but it would be a trial bringing such a long distance relationship to closeness unless she is willing to come here in an embassy for a prolonged period of time," the Prince then stated, dwelling on his Fathers words.

"And... I must confess Father, when... I corresponded with Princess Moana, I was unaware of the apparent stature of her people. It perhaps didn't reflect well in our correspondence, even when I could see her," the Prince said before pausing, thinking of his comments earlier on Princess Elena. "I don't mind Woman of stature but hers is..." he paused, trying to think of the appropriate words. "She very much might be more Woman than I can handle..." he then added, shifting his weight a bit as he sat in the chair.

The Chamberlain cleared his throat a bit, as if begging a prompt for something when the Prince turned to the Chamberlain. "I'm going to contact her tonight to confirm. But if it's true, I think I would prefer to pass. I would not want her to come halfway around the world for the pairing not to work out due to known factors such as that," the Prince then said with a slight hint of somberness in his tone. But ultimately he took it in stride. He liked Moana, but he had far from fallen for her.

Magnus nodded. He really didn't have anything else to say on that front. she'd be a solid choice. Although now he was potentially seeing her as a sort of lesser version of Moana strictly physically speaking.

"...not perfect for you?" Magnus asked finishing his son's break.

Part 2 of 2

In fact, despite having Princess Moana on the list, it was the discussions of the complicated relationships between the Northern peoples and the High Elves that seemed to actually have more impact upon the young Prince as he seemed even more frustrated being reminded of the latent hostility between their two peoples because of the Thalmor. Sure... Princess Eldyra herself seemed acceptable on an individual basis as she continued to be a guest in this household, but there was a vast difference between that... and legitimizing some sort of Elven lineage in the Royal Family.

"Princess Eldyra, if she was Human..." the Prince then said slowly. "I think I would actually be more fond of her. Especially if she was still as perpetual as before. I almost feel like... I could relate to her more. She's been nothing but amicable, courteous, even exceptionally kind and considerate to me but... sometimes I can't help but wonder what she's thinking behind those soft eyes of hers. They look so open and yet... even if she opens up to me now... I know she'll live long beyond my own years and her thinking is focused on generations, not just years. When I think about it in such terms, sometimes it's hard to find her... relatable. It is most strange a feeling."

"It can be hard for the mind to grasp something we find to be abstract. The Elven race is long lived and thus their point of view and line of thinking is always going to be divergent from ours, even on a racial level they are divergent in their basic thinking and worldview one can readily assume," the Chamberlain stated sagely.

"I should speak with her as well. Her main purpose here was to inquire as to a potential bethrothel after all," the Prince then said. "I hope I haven't kept her long."

"She's actually taken one of the Officer's Quarters in the Royal Barracks. The Captain of the Guard reported that she's One Third Smug Elven Supremacist, One Third Condescendingly Wise Big Sister and One Third Considerate and Kind Soft Spoken Asur Stereotype."

"And all badass. I've seen her in sparring alone," the Prince said, a familiar glimmer in his eyes as he praised the Elven Princesses martial ability.

The Chamberlain nodded to his King. Two more options likely removed. And Azula not even being discussed. "And what of Princess Elena of Jafaari?" the Chamberlain then asked.

"I feel as if she is similar to Mulan and Moana except... I don't feel quite as much connection with her as I have with Moana, even though I've met Elena in person. I've already praised her for her mirth and energy and martial ability... as well as her wisdom and character but... I met her the once when her Embassy visited our Kingdom. I was fond of her and her me, and we still correspond but... I haven't had a real... true connection felt with her like I have the others." He paused, turning to the Chamberlain. "Even with Aranessa..."

The Chamberlain frowned a bit again before resuming a stoic face. "If you adventured with this Princess Elena do you feel your opinion would change then? Or even with this Princess Moana?"

The Prince paused a moment, giving it serious thought before furrowing his young brow. "Actually... yes... I would view them differently but..." he said, pondering his next words. "I actually don't think I would feel a stronger romantic attachment to them now that you put it that way Lord Chamberlain," the Prince then said. "Their personalities, I feel... would be the same. With Aubrey... we bonded. But she didn't change... she just showed more of herself to me. And with Merida... I do feel like we'd bond more over our existing affinity. And Aranessa... well... she hasn't given anyone the chance to open her up... until now. She could be like Aubrey."

The Prince rubbed his chin.

"Is that a no for Elena then?" the Chamberlain then asked.

"For now... it won't be absolute until I am betrothed," the Prince then quipped earnestly.

"So Princess Merida. Lady Aubrey and the Pirate Queen of Sartosa are your primary interests my Prince?" the Chamberlain clarified.

"The first two more then the third but I suppose so," the Prince replied with a nod.

Magnu's eyes widened a bit as an idea struck him. "Actually we might not have to travel far at all. If Maui can open up portals that we can communicate with Moana and her people then it's more than likely he can open up a portal for us to go through and see them personally. I also have a friend who has a vast library of magic so if such a thing exist he'd know it.

(Ironically of all the Daedric princes and gods of choas, Hermanus Mora was the only prince Magnus considered a friend and the only one of the princes to look at Magnus in kind. The fact that Mora was about the only prince who wasin't looking to eat Magnus's soul or trap it within his respective realm certainly helped.)

"we can take some time to go over to Moana's island and get to know her and her people. We can visit Mulan the same way." he then shifted a bit himself.

"To put everything out in the open, Moana is my first choice, mostly because her betrothal would mean we'd have not one but possibly two godlike figures and maybe even more on our side. It can't be overstated enough how great of a position that would put yourself and the kingdom in. Immortality, a swift and sure destruction to all your mortal enemies. that's a position people would sell thier souls for. I know because I've seen people sell thier souls for only a small shadow of such a promise."

Magnus was also quick to follow that up with the genuine remark of. "That being said, such a position would not be worth an awkward and loveless marriage. If she proves to truly be too much woman for you to handle then that would be that. But I would suggest we at least try to meet her and get to know her personally before we make a judgement. Same can be said about Mulan."

"And all badass. I've seen her in sparring alone," the Prince said, a familiar glimmer in his eyes as he praised the Elven Princesses martial ability.

Kodlak was already making a good case for why Eldyra wouldin't make a good fit for him and then added the fact that she was 1/3rd smug elven supramcist. That rubbed Magnus the wrong way and all but sealed it in his mind.

"Yeah, boy if you want my personal opinion. I think she may make a good dynastic friend or even a sort of dynastic Guardian but I just don't think she'd be a good wife for you...." he then paused for a moment ..."But, I think I'd feel better if she was part of this conversation same with Maui representing for Moana and Aubrey obviously representing herself. Maybe they all can give us more information about their motives, and give an argument for why they are the best choice plus it may help strengthen relations with the different kingdoms. I've rearranged my list of preferable suitors several times as more discussion and information has come out. More information certainly wouldn't hurt

Magnus didn't have anything to say about Elena. Nothing about her really stood out physically compared to the likes of say Moana and of all the princesses she had the least to offer.

"So Princess Merida. Lady Aubrey and the Pirate Queen of Sartosa are your primary interests my Prince?" the Chamberlain clarified.

"The first two more then the third but I suppose so," the Prince replied with a nod.

Magnus breathed a visible sigh of relief. the top three being suitors were pretty set and stone unless a meeting with either Moana or Mulan really proved to spark fireworks or Eldyra really gave a pitch to successfully steal Kodlak's heart. they still had quite a ways to go but at least some solid progress was actually made.

Magnus got up and stretched.

"I'll see what I can find about that teleportation spell. While you discuss things with Eldyra. it should only take me a few hours since I know what to ask and look for. In the meantime. If I may ask son. Do you think you can get Eldyrea, Maui, and Aubrey in on this conversation?" Aubrey he figured was close by and Maui he knew could be summoned and of course Eldyra was in the barracks. "I feel like the suitors that can be represented here and now have the right to be a part of the conversation."

With these potential revealations about Moana's physicality it suddenly wasn't his heart that the Prince felt was in danger of being broken. However he was pleased that his Father was apparently willing to do a great deal of legwork into putting in the effort of screening suitors. The young Prince thought of bringing up a few points, but after seeing how his Father was diving into this work so passionately, Kaldak couldn't help but notice his Father livening up a bit, as if preparing for yet another adventure which... considering his ideas of travelling to the Great Ocean and China, couldn't be called anything but an adventure if not a traditional one, if such a thing could be said.

"Yes Father," Prince Kaldak replied dutifully, rising from the chair as he asked for him to contact Eldyra, Maui and Aubrey. Thankfully two of them were close by... and the third was a divination spell and a pool of water away... Moana was available anyways.

Sir Ladd wound back the arbalest, his foot pinning the large weapon to the ground as he used his hands to winch it back as the other assorted Men at Arms looked on with a mixture of interest ranging from merely curious to hopeful. A month ago, when the target had first arrived, the hopefulness would've been in the heavy quarrel striking true. Now it seemed, despite the Guests seeming vanity and ethnocentrism, they just wanted to see another good show from the Princess of Tiranoc.

There was also a wolf whistle or two when Princess Eldyra drew a well balanced greatsword with a single hand on the draw. The blades edge barely scraped against the leather lined metal scabbard as the weapon, almost as long as her, arched gracefully in the air. It was a myth that such great two handed weapons were so heavy as to be cumbersome, but there was still a recognizable elegance in her draw that even caused the most jaded of the veteran Men-at-Arms to nod appreciatively at her casual display of finesse in even that simple action.

What was likely more appealing was seeing a High Elf clad in the Kingdom's own Nordic Carved Plate armor from head to collar. "The Swordmasters of Hoeth do not even use shields when they go into battle. So skilled are they with the blade," Princess Eldyra finally said as she faced the young Squire who finished loading the Arbalest and was an easy fifty paces away from her. "It would seem like a near fatal mistake, considering the renown with which our kind are rightly known for when it comes to skill with the bow..." she then added. "...in all of its forms. Even with a clumsy contraption such as your Arbalest here."

A few snorts of derision could be heard which she casually ignored. "Will the Princess please wear the helm provided?" suddenly chimed up a far more respected voice upon the training grounds. Every head turned and almost every head bowed as Prince Kaldak approached and nodded to one of the Quartermasters. "It would bring great dishonor to our House if our Guest was injured by our own arms while under our protection."

The Princess turned to the Prince and for a moment, he found herself locked in the Elven Princesses gaze. Strikingly simple, yet behind her soft gray eyes, he found herself fixed in the sharpness of her vision. Her face felt small. Almost soft. Pure fair skin. Her blonde hair, a shade lighter then golden and yet more lustrous then wheat and how it paled in the gray Skyrim sunlight. The pale skin of her face still managed to contrast with it, in hues of light. Her eyebrows like her lips, thin but distinctive. Along with her pointed ears, barely exposed as they seemed to almost hem in the sides of her fulsome locks which were bound up tightly, neatly into a little bundle close to the top of her head. The Quartermaster approached with a helm.

She refused it and reaching for her own belt, produced one of the long angular silvery helms of her own kinfolk and slid it over her head. It fit easily over her, shrouding her strikingly unassuming beauty and leaving only the eyes exposed as she turned away from Prince Kaldak and faced the Squire with the Crossbow. "It would be a pity to scar this face in something other then battle," she then said, raising the sword in both hands now.

The Squire took aim as everyone tensed up, the Quartermaster backing away sensibly. But then Sir Ladd hesitated. "Milady... where should I aim?" It roused a chuckle from some of the assembled troops.

"Anywhere but the eyes. I trust your armor will protect me. It feels heavy enough to stop a ballista," the Princess replied sarcastically, leveling the blade before her.

Prince Kaldak frowned. The arbalest was meant to penetrate armor, especially at this distance. But the Princess seemed certain that-

The Squire fired the heavy crossbow quarrel, interrupting the Prince's thoughts as he tried to follow the bolt as it suddenly bounced off of the ground to the side and behind the Princess. He blinked, not quite registering the movement as the other spectators realized the deflection had already occurred in spite of seeing Princess Eldyra still in the same stance. But there was movement. Her wrists twisted slightly as she wagged the greatsword blade in her hand and cocked her head to the side a bit, the movement looking a little more pronounced due to the exaggerated shape of their conical style helmets.

With equal precision, she sheathed the greatsword and began to remove her helmet. "Feel free to be impressed," the Princess then said with a soft smile, leaving her quip to be interpreted as either jest, insult or sincere.

There was some grumbling as the Squire himself looked relieved. "So Elves just swat arrows out of the air?" one of the Men at Arms asked incredulously. "Yet you all use bows?"

"The Swordmasters of Ulthaun, especially those of warrior scholars of Hoeth, have mastered the deflection of arrows with their swords alone. Due to the accuracy of an Elven loosed arrow, it is ironically easier to deflect a well aimed arrow then a poorly aimed one," Princess Eldyra then said before turning to the questioning soldier. "It is similar to catching a ball. You just have to measure the distance and speed and get the timing right. Oh and see it coming." She paused looking at the man. "Of course shields have more utility. Especially among those less skilled martially," she added, lowering her gaze on the man who happened to be standing next to his tower sized wooden shield as most of the soldiers were. She studied their reactions, noticing the faces ranging from bemusement at her humor to disdain and seemed to relish in reading their faces as easily as a book. "I in fact typically ride into battle with a shield, especially if I'm mounted," she then added. thoughtfully.

"Okay. That's enough playtime," Prince Kaldak then said, injecting himself into the moment once again. Within moments the Sergeants were getting the troops back into their scheduled duties and trainings, leaving the Prince with Eldyra in open privacy upon the courtyard. Squaring off with her again, the Prince steeled his face as Princess Eldyra's gray eyes fell upon him again.

She always stood proud and tall, but still looked up to him as the Nord was a few inches taller than the Elven female. Somehow she managed to hide that deficiency whilst in his presence. "Princess Eldyra, I wa-."

"I understand Prince Kaldak," the Princess then said, a bemused smile crossing her face, apparently reading him like a book. "I hope your Father wasn't too stern in righting your sensibilities when it came to suitors," Eldyra then said, noticing the Prince frown slightly as she pre-empted him.

"Marrying an Elf would present political difficulties," Prince Kaldak then said, though he wondered why he was even telling her this since she already likely knew that.

"I know it would. And to be honest, I wasn't expecting much different," the Princess replied casually.

"So is this some sort of game?" the Prince then decided to ask, cutting past the pleasantries that Eldyra so helpfully already sidestepped. He tried to hide a bit of an aggrieved tone in his voice.

To his surprise, Princess Eldyra paled slightly, showing that in spite of being able to read people, she wasn't exactly flawless in hiding her own emotions. His arm started to flinch but before it could move, she grasped his forearm and squeezed it firmly in her grasp. "Prince Kaldak. I would marry you. I would love you. I would be dutiful to you and your Kingdom and its subjects and our issue until the End of Our Days," she said with a firmness that was betrayed by how flat her voice sounded.

He blinked. "End of Our Days?" Prince Kaldak then said warily. "You can't just casually commit to love."

She let her hand slip from his forearm. "A Human measures commitments in decades. Maybe a century. I would commit several of your generations to you at the least. At least until our legacy is no longer ours and long after you are in the grave," the Princess then said. "I feel passion. I feel love. But it's so perennial that it can only be of the sublime variety, otherwise it will burn out, be transitory."

"And ours wouldn't?" Kaldak asked.

Her face softened a bit, the color returning to her fair features and making her cheeks almost look a bit more rounded, even florid now. Combined with the softening of her gray eyes, it almost made her look even more youthful, innocent. "Our love would last a lifetime," she then said with a smile. "I would've very much like to of experienced that sort of love. With a family if Isha blessed us with issue."

Though comprehending her reasoning to a degree, Kaldak clearly didn't fully understand her point of view. "Well I'm sure there's other Princes in the Empire..."

"Things change in the Empire almost as fast as the seasons. Maybe in a couple of decades your fate will change," Eldyra then offered cryptically.

Kaldak smirked. "I'll be an old man by then. Sodded to the throne and blessed with a family hopefully," the Prince replied with a quiet chuckle. "Perhaps not quiteas spry as I am now."

She threw her hands up in the air. "You'll be more mature then," Eldyra then said with a smile, taking intentional steps back all the while while fixing her gaze upon him. Her gray eyes glanced over him from head to toe briefly. "I've seen your Father. I think I have a good measure for the Man you could be. Older. Wiser. For me, it would be quite a pleasant exchange. Plus as you say, Isha's blessings... you'll have a family by then. Maybe a lineage that can look past my ears."

"And your inherent sense of superiority..." Prince Kaldak found himself saying, the words chasing after her as she started to turn around.

"My superiority doesn't diminish your worth," she replied whimsically.

"Will you be leaving then?" the Prince asked, a bit of regret in his voice, not over dismissing her offer of marriage as much as potentially having her presence potentially drawn away from him prematurely.

"Soon. Maybe next year if you'll have me," Princess Eldyra then said with a cheerful smile. Kaldak was about to speak about how that was a span of months when Eldyra pre-empted him again. "After all I only just got here."

---

The cottage was nestled in the hamlet closest to the castle, but still apart enough to reside on dozens of private acres. From its location close to the forests as well as the taxidermy that adorned the walls, it was clear that it was used as a Hunting Lodge before King Magnun generously decided to put up Lady Aubrey there when Prince Kaldak had returned home to deal with the pressing matters of court and state that had piled up while he was away, his pending betrothal notwisthstanding.

There was a pair of Wardens on guard at the estate. Only one was present at the house itself, the other one likely on a ride. It was clear from his eyes that the poor Man-at-Arms was likely struck witless by the time Prince Kaldak rode up to the cottage, his squire, Ladd, following dutifully behind him, minus the Arbalest. Aubrey heard the approach of his horse and by the time he rode up the trail to the cottage, she was already at the open doorway.

He took a moment to realize she was wearing just a simple tunic with a long cloak drawn over her, though it was clear enough to see a brace of razor sharp throwing daggers still firmly sheathed in her cross straps. The Warden approached, grabbing the reins of both the Prince's and Squires horses and led them to the nearby stable.

"Look at you... all heroic," Aubrey said with a wink as she leaned against the door frame, her back arching slightly as the slight bulge in her belly was immediately recognizable to any who cared to look. "You don't look all fussy after meeting your Father," she then added, her face brightening a bit as she drew back the long blonde locks that covered her face. She had more color to her look and the bright blue eyes that always seemed to offer an air of vibrancy to her. He was used to seeing her blonde hair spilling out from under her broad brimmed hat she typically wore so seeing it... combed and straightened into neat golden tresses down her back always made him pause for a moment.

"We talked and..." he said slowly, trying to find the words as he admired her in this new light all over again. He even began to wonder how she'd look in a proper dress...

"Fifty acres and a hunters cottage for thee?" she then asked, tapping her own chest.

"Heh..." Kaldak said. "No. He was actually more receptive to you then I thought he'd be," the Prince admitted as she cocked her head to the side and then gazed at the Squire.

Sir Ladd furrowed his brow in confusion, as opposed to withering under her gaze. "That true Squire?"

"I wasn't there Milady," the Squire replied as the Prince rolled his eyes at her ongoing antics.

"Trimmed the potential suitors in half and I know you'll be flattered that you made the cut," the Prince said, as he continued to gaze at her... wanting nothing more then to just put his hands on her hips and hold her as he told her that she was still in the running. That she was still his first choice. That it was almost certain they would be betrothed.

But the last one was a lie. And it just wouldn't be fair to do so. She had been so... understanding so far.

"I am," Aubrey said simply. "Honestly I would've settled for a small Fief or Duchy for us," she then said, patting her own tummy. "Wouldn't be the first bastard born in the Empire born to a Elector Count," she then said nonchalantly, her dark humor not even being limited to insulting her own offsprings lineage.

He frowned, usually appreciating her Gallows Humor. "The King... My Father..." Kaldak then said, trying to find the right words already. "...I told him of our adventures and how we... bonded. You know he was an Adventurer himself."

"Yes the Tales of Magnus the Dragonborn are well known. He's an idol to all of us criminals looking for redemption," Aubrey replied just as slickly and once again taken the Prince offguard.

"Yes... well..." the Prince then said.

"Five remain? So its Princess Merida obviously. The Chinese girl you haven't even met yet. Princess Anna. Elena. And..." she paused, her face struggling to think of the fifth person.

"You Lady Aubrey..." the Squire piped up, illustrating his mastery of grasping the obvious.

This time both the Lady and Prince laughed.

"So you came here to...?" Aubrey then started to ask.

"My Father and I want you included in the discussion. And actually... Anna and Elena are not in consideration anymore. My choice actually," the Prince then stated.

"You really want my opinion on a replacement for me?" Aubrey asked, raising an eyebrow. It was likely she had an inkling of an answer but she wanted to hear him say it nevertheless.

"Everytime I meet another Lady on our adventures, you bring up my Bachelorhood and make it a point of discussion to discuss how I am looking for a Wife... and a Queen when you know that you've always been my first choice regardless of circumstance," Prince Kaldak then said. "You may feel I know the reasons why but I want you to state them just to be clear because you and I share a bond that none of the others can lay a claim to. Or hold a candle to."

For once, Aubrey fell silent instead of issuing a verbal riposte. Instead a smile grew on her face. "Until I saw your face as you rode up here, my greatest fear was that your Father was going to exile me to a similar cottage in Cyrodil since the only thing I can offer to your Kingdom is being a Lady. But there's more to our courtship than just loving each other. Make no mistake, I am more than willing to be your future Queen. But we're both adults here. We grew up a lot together to know that life just isn't fair and we're not owed anything from it. I would miss you greatly if you married another but I would understand it. Plus I know you so well that you'd always feel guilty about it and believe me, I am more than happy to take full advantage of raising a royal bastard and milking you of every privilege I can for our Childs benefit even if the Throne is off limits. I'm very practical that ways."

The Prince rolled his shoulders, thinking over her words. "There wasn't an answer there."

"I want the Father of my Child to be happy. I want the Kingdom he rules to be happy. So marry well. And I want you to be happy. Or as happy as you can be without raiding my womb after we raid a tomb-," Aubrey then said matter of factly.

Both the Squire and returning Guard Warden offered double takes as they heard that last statement.

---

"Your looking a little wan Ladd," echoed Aubrey's voice in the distance as she was undoubtedly putting the Squire to work around the cottage. "If you can't heft a pile of dung, how can you pitch a shovel in the Darkest Dungeon? If you wish to Squire for the Prince, you'll have to put your back into it!"

The Prince had his privacy... that would be enough. All he had to do was contact Moana... and she in turn could contact Maui and hopefully his Father and the Demigod could conjure up a solution along the lines Magnus proposed. The ceramic basin that Aubrey provided was in fact quite clean, she said she used it only for brewing tea and poison after all.

She was probably joking about the latter bit.

Probably.

Reaching into a small pouch from his haversack, the Prince mouthed a soft incantation in the rhythmic baritone language of the Polynesian peoples that Princess Moana belonged to. He then took the sea salt granules, dipped it into a small cup of citrus and then drizzled it over the basin of pure water.

The incantation worked but he knew a response wouldn't be likely forthcoming. Instead the dim lighting of the room all he saw was the endless starry fields that hung over Oceania. In the distance, the broad flat leaf edges of the palms, an exotic tree to say the least, swayed in the distance. Princess Moana, used to studying the night sky, would see the extra sparkle in the stars sooner or later, noticing the shift in her constellation and message him back. And he would be waiting for her response.

He paused and hoped that Aubrey wouldn't miss the basin for the night. He'd have to bring it back to the Castle.

Mangus walked up to the door of the Apocrypha and walked in. Shelves streched as far as the eye could see. He didn't bother trying to search what he was looking for alone less he be searching for days weeks or even years.

"Hermaeus . Hermaeus!" as if on cue an oozy black shadow with one large eye and several octopus-like tentacles popped up on one of the shelves."

"Ah Dragonborn. Such a pleasure to see you again. Seeking knowledge on how to cast a spell to teleport you to the islands of Oceania and the great Cities of China?"

Magnus went to open his mouth but then stopped himself. After knowing The Daedric Prince of Knowledge and wisdom a little over twenty years now he found it was best just not to ask. Mora in kind simply extended one of his tentacles which held one of the titleless books. "I belive this is what you seek."

Mangus opened it and found the spells he was looking for, memorizing them before giving the book back.

"Thank you."

Magnus let out a stressful sigh.

"You have a great weight on your shoulder. What be it?" Hermaeus-Mora asked.

Magnus proceeded to explain the situation regarding the suitors and his son by the time the Dragonborn king was finished. Hermaeus simply chuckled. "Dragonborn, Dragonborn I thought you were better than that. You worry about betrothing your son so that he and your kingdom may achieve certain goals. Have you forgotten that within my halls lies the greatest secrets of and knowledge of powers that I give to you freely? After all that you have shown me in regard to empathy and the perseverance of mortals, have I not proven myself to be your friend?

Immortality, I can show several ways to obtain it. Intrigue? intrigue all of the secrets of the shadows shall be yours. Stewardship? The Midas touch is but yours to have. The Art of War. I can teach you how to achieve the greatest pleasures of vanquishing your enemies and watching them be driven before you as you hear the lamentations of their women. You have but to ask.

Magnus chuckled. "Alright alright I get your point." he then sat down at a reading bench. "I'm just stressed you know. I want my son to be happy, for him to be with someone he can enjoy both in this life on Nirn and the next life in Sovngarde.

"Ah but from what I see. Your son has already picked a woman that follows that very criteria. Behold."

With a flick of one of his tenticals he opened a seeing portal. Magnus looked to see Kodlake riding toward a cottage.

He's an idol to all of us criminals looking for redemption," Aubrey replied just as slickly and once again taken the Prince off-guard.

"Yes... well..." the Prince then said.

Magnus smiled as he was moved to tears. How could he have been so blind when it was so clear now? It would not matter what sort of powers his son's betrothed had or what her prestige was. He would never be happy unless his Betrothed was Lady Aubrey for he would not truly accept any other. In truth Magnus found no reason to object. He loved Aubrey as a sort of daughter in her own right. Who cared about prestige or political alliances? The former both the father and the son had in spades and the latter was not necessary for the Dragonborn already had allies beyond mere mortals.

"How foolish I have been in all of this. I've been playing king for so long I became conceited and started worrying about things I should not instead of my own son's heart. This is not befitting of a true Nord. Let alone dragonborn.

He then looked to Hermaeus. "Thank you. You've opened my eyes. My next step is to meet my son and tell him my ultimate decision.

"Anytime. Now before you go I have a parting gift for you."

Hermaeus gave the Dragonborn a piece of paper. Written in ink were a couple of spell incantations and their effects.

"A spell that can conjure any food with a simple thought, and a spell that can create any quantity of food?"

"Believe me Dragonborn. You will need it. the cravings of a woman with child can be innumerable, indescribable and unyielding...especially when she is carrying triplets"

Magnus's eyes opened wide. "TRIPLETS?!?"

"Identical ones, girls as a matter of fact."

Magnus couldn't help but smile wide. He memorized the spells and with that, he gave his goodbye back and returned back to the mortal realm.

Princess Moana, used to study the night sky, would see the extra sparkle in the stars sooner or later, noticing the shift in her constellation and message him back. And he would be waiting for her response.

He paused and hoped that Aubrey wouldn't miss the basin for the night. He'd have to bring it back to the Castle.

Magnus managed to sneak into the prince's tent just as the portal was opened up. it didn't look like either Moana or Maui had responded so far. Just as well.

"Fus!" Magnus shouted. The shout was just powerful enough to disrupt the spell. The portal flickered a little bit and then closed. Magnus picked up the Basin so that it wouldn't get damaged.

"Sorry for the entrance, but there is a change of plans. Tell Squire Ladd to tell Lady Eldyra to go to the Blue Palace in Solitude and wait for my arrival as I have a proposition for her. In the meantime, I need to talk to you and Lady Aubrey alone."

"My son, I understand that bonds forged in battle are strong. But men can act differently in the hardship war then how they would act in the comfort of their homes."
I then look at my son and the chamberlain
"However, I do excect you to not abandon your child even if you don't marry her. What do you think would be the best way to raise the child with Princess Aubrey?"

"Yes, I don't intend it to happen overnight, but if Dun Broch will be part of the empire by the time my grand son comes of age it would be great to have this family control two electoral provinces."

"That might be a bit difficult no? She is not queen consort, she is the reigning queen over there, I'm not sure if Arendelle's dynastic laws give the power to the husband after marriage or not?"

"She sounds like a fine choice, all noble dynasties started with great men who did great deeds. She was ennobled through peerless service and loyalty to her monarch."

"True, though again I would urge you to think the matter thrown, the fire nation is currently in an expansionist war with all of it's neighbors and has laid a claim to manifest destiny to the whole world. If you were elected Emperor then you could tie the Empire and the Fire Nation together. But as the fire nation currently is it seems unwise to ally with them. Especially since the other Elector Counts may look upon us with sucpicion."
I look at the Chamberlain.
"Any other thoughts about the potential of this match?"

"Hmm again I have no objection to a marriage arranged by a demigod. Though again our people's are on the other side of the world, I wonder if Moana could even come here. Because such a voyage would be an adventure on it's own fraught with peril."

"Again, unlike elves I only sadly have a limited human lifespan, so I have to trust your judgment and the judgment of my descendents."

"Speaking of elves princess Elena seems so melancholic in our interactions, she is not as arrogant as many other elves. I'm almost disappointed, I thought that when we found that cache of OrcxElf hentai from the fire nation I would be able to use it to irritate the smug pointy eared long lived pricks. But I'd feel bad insulting her, I feel that she has felt some humiliation in her homeland. Also those fire nation paintings were quite degenerate, and I thought elves were lewd, the fire nation might have them beat."
I turn to the Chamberlain.
"Do you think a gift to the Dwarf ambassador like that might make him laugh? I know that Elves and Dwarfs have hated each other since the war of the beard. Do you think the Dawi would love to insult the Asur like that?"
I then turn to my son.
"Anyway yes half elves I would assume they receive a longer life span than humans, but not as long as elves. Maybe a few hundred years. Though knowing would be great."

"Heh, I doubt all of them are, at least they are able to do their duty and continue their line."

"I'm happy you chose Princess Merida, she is a good choice and I am confident she will make you happy."

The Squire looked almost relieved from being released from the drudgery of cleaning the cottages stable though to Aubrey's credit, she was assisting him in tending the animals there. The two Men-at-Arms on guard remained hovering nearby, one assisting the two, the other standing guard just in case of the unlikely event that random happenstance tried to sneak upon them with ill intent. This time it was just Prince Kaldak however, already surprised at his Fathers presence in his tent, clutching the basin the Prince was intending to use as communication with Moana and simply informing him of his need.

Looking up, the Squires youthful face was fixed on the Prince as he addressed him. "Sir Ladd. You are to find Princess Eldyra. Escort her to the Blue Palace. My Father will call upon him with a proposition," the Prince then said. The Squire, unquestioningly, bowed and departed, leaving his shovel propped up against a nearby wall as Aubrey looked up from the horse she had just guided into a freshly cleaned stall.

Studying his face, soon her own features matched his,but while he had a bit of confusion crossed his face, hers was slightly marred with worry. "What is is Kaldak?" she then asked him, taking off her soiled gloves and leaving them on a nearby ledge.

"My Father is in my tent. He wishes to speak with us privately," the Prince said, leaving his own trepidation unspoken except in the uncertain tone of his voice.

"Perhaps your Father has found sense and Princess Eldyra of Tiranoc will be waiting for you in the Palace Bedchambers instead of marrying you off to a grave robber," Aubrey stated with a trademark caustic cheerfulness. "Perhaps he'll honor me with becoming the Baroness of Shriekwind Bastion..."

"Aubrey please," Kaldak then said, shaking his head, not wanting to laugh or smile because it would just encourage him. "You know that is not what I desire."

"You don't want an Elven princess laying prostrate and eager for your attentions upon a goosedown bed amidst the soft linens?" Aubrey then asked in feigned shock, watching Kaldak's eyes as he found himself coerced into imagining that very sight.

It took a moment before he blinked and frowned anew. "I don't like chariots. And her ears are likely as pointy as your pickaxe," Kaldak retorted before nodding to the two Wardens to finish tending to the work of the stables while he took Aubrey in hand. The blonde woman paused, glancing down as his gloved hand gripped her bare wrist and they both realized they hadn't... come this close in a while. Not since they returned to Solitude.

She looked up at him, almost confused by what seemed to be a simple yet quixotic gesture by him. "My Prince..?"

He let go of her wrist. "He wanted to speak to us alone," Kaldak said, still standing close to her now.

Lady Aubrey was tall, above average certainly and with a lean, athletic, almost statuesque figure, but Kaldak was clearly a head taller than even she was. The Nordic lineage in both of them was self evidently strong. His eyes glanced down to her belly, if only for a moment as he thought of how tall and strapping their child would be. "Well... can't be worse then our worst expectations I reckon yes?" Aubrey then asked.

Prince Kaldak's brow furrowed. It seemed likely but her voicing those concerns... managed to make him worry more as he walked back with her to his Tent. Off in the distance, his Squire was already riding off in the distance as they made their short trek across the estate. Aubrey meanwhile had her head on a swivel. Always looking. Searching. On guard. "I don't see any of your Fathers Housecarls or Thanes nearby," Aubrey then said wispfully. "Or the Chamberlain."

"My Father can protect himself," the Prince then said, patting his own sword. "As can we," he then added, glancing back at the stables.

"Oh wait. There they are..." Aubrey then said, noticing a small troops of armored Housecarls standing off to the side a few dozen meters off, on the edges of the estate itself. Enough to handle your everyday run of the mill troll incursion or Orc raid. She waved at them to a muted response as the two of them approached the tent, the Prince considerately opening the tent flap for Aubrey, who offered a brief curtsy of thanks before he followed her inside.

"My Lord," Aubrey then said, as soon as she entered the tent, bowing her head low but also briefly in acknowledgement of the man and his station.

"Father," Prince Kaldak then added with a curt and respectful nod.

Magnus was sitting as he saw the two come in. "Ah there you are. I'll go ahead and clear some air here." he then looked to his son "I'm not betrothing you to Eldyra don't worry. Actually I kind of overheard your conversation or more "Pappa Mora" overheard your conversation and I sort of eavesdropped."

he then looked to Aubrey grinning slightly. "Really now Aubrey, exiled in Cyrodil with little more than "Fifty acres and a hunters cottage for thee?" you've been in me and my son's presence long enough I would have thought you would have known I think of you as a daughter. If I couldn't have you as a daughter-in-law, then I would have you as a daughter by grafting (adoption or grafting even of adults was not uncommon in skyrim) I would have given you the rift and enough wealth worthy of a small kingdom...."

He then gave a dramatic pause before quickly saying

"But that will not be necessary. I actually need to apologize to you boy. I should have known much earlier that even if you did marry another woman, they would never be able to gain your love like this woman in front of me nor would you ever be happy with any other woman. Seeing you two talk made me realize that and the fact that she was willing to sacrifice her personal happiness for the sake of the kingdom shows me how much she loves you.

So...I'm going to exercise my authority as king and you are not to contradict me on this decision."

He remove an amulet of Mara from his bag and gave it to his son.

"You are to Marry Aubrey and she is to be made a Lady. No ifs ands or buts. I need to have a sort of Father to fiancé talk with Aubrey...alone. While I do that you are to proclaim to all of my Housecarls and of whom you are to be wed as your new princess and that you are to wed in thirty days. Then, tell them this word for word if you can.

"it is by decree of the high king that all subjects of every race and class whether rich poor or somewhere in between are to be invited to the wedding and the feast. Everyone is to wear clothes of good quality and if they have no good garments then to go to the market and ask for some, if payment is asked but none can be given then the tailors and the seamstresses and the shoemakers are to put it on the High King's charge. It has been charged to you oh great Thanes and Housecarls of the Dragonborn High King ,to ride out to all corners of Skyrim to every city and town, with drums and horns and declare this decree forthwith."

"Do you understand my boy?"

It has been charged to you oh great Thanes and Housecarls of the Dragonborn High King ,to ride out to all corners of Skyrim to every city and town, with drums and horns and declare this decree forthwith."

"Do you understand my boy?"

Prince Kaldak's eyes slowly widened starting when he handed him the Amulet. He was about to glance down when his Father continued to speak. Neaby Aubrey's face was returning to its normal color after a bit of blushing reddened her fair cheeks as he spoke of her as akin to his 'daughter' after revealing to them both he had managed to overhear their prior conversation. He remained almost stone faced, his expression frozen like ice as his Father, the King, firmly stated they would be wed and as if to cement the whole thing, expressed the decree he wanted the Housecarls to proclaim the betrothal and upcoming wedding throughout all of Skyrim.

By the time he was finished, asking if the Prince understood, he nodded, understanding it but still taking a moment to digest it. He didn't even respond at first, instead drawing his gaze from his Father to that of Aubrey standing beside her and saw her turn to face him, her expression a blanched look of shock and surprise. It was clear that trepidation had finally seized her enough to rob her of the ability to utter another fast mouthed quip as Kaldak turned back to his Father and bowed low.

"Yes Father," he then said, before turning about, facing Aubrey briefly enough to make eye contact with his wide eyes before turning to exit the tent. Aubrey started to lift a hand to reach out for the Prince, but he was already departing the tent, leaving her alone with the King now.

She turned back to King Magnus, her mind already actively reviewing every conversation and encounter she had with him as she took a slightly more relaxed stance, the stiffness that came with the shock of his announcement ebbing away from her as she tried to take a measure of the Man's mood. Her mouth opened briefly once... then again a moment later, before she paused, blinking a bit and deciding to let the King speak.

When the prince left Magnus took out a piece of parchment. "On my way here I found this. I just want to make sure we are all on the same page." He then read the report.

"It was discovered upon robbing the grave of her late first husband, she had murdered two watchmen on guard. it was said that the local keeper witnessed and said nothing for fear of reprisal, but he was reported as to saying "She was awash in exhilaration, the glint in her eyes outshining the fistful of ill-gotten gains." and it is also believed that Lady Aubrey's later abandonment of her estate was partially motivated by a newfound thrill-seeking urge. Shopkeepers have also reported that there have been several instances where just after Lady Aubrey has left their shop, many items go missing."

with that Magnus put down the report.

"is Kodlak aware of this, your murders, your petty thievery, and your reason for abandoning your nobility?"

Magnus did not ask this with any hint of anger or bile. In fact, he asked it as casually as one would as their family what they were to eat for the night

The fact he was being so unflappable as he read out the report frustrated Aubrey as she heard him speak out the crimes of her past. Admittedly, not so far off past. Her lips were starting to twist a bit, as she heard his words before hearing him address her directly after putting down the report and raised a thin eyebrow as she took a beat measuring what response she should give but knowing going hard in the response likely wasn't the play.

"Oh he knew me at my worst my King," Aubrey then said, wondering if she was more pained that the famous King Magnus was so even toned in his confrontation, or not. A more confrontational tone would've been easier to predict, if harder to overcome despite the comfort of familiarity. "I was in a desperate hour when he encountered me in the hamlet, saw me taking a pickaxe to Cultist altars so I could get the jewels within, digging out the golden teeth of fallen Brigands. Yet he still approached me, not put off by my Gallows Humor and saw the hints of nobility even as I picked through the detritus of the corrupted halls we battled through."

Her eyes widened a bit as she visualized the moments in her mind. "I think I revealed my noble bearing during a bout of emotional weakness. Screamed alout how I was once a Lady and now nothing more than a burglar. Begging my body to not be buried, wanting to burned like the Barbarians of old. They locked me in a cell for a week, the Nuns soothing my mind with Laudanum before I was released and the next time I was at the campfire..." she paused, nodding slowly. "... He told me that is Father was King Magnus and I laughed. The Dragonborn... he had to be mad to be with us because he certainly wasn't desperate enough. I was so amused I tried to impress him with the inverse, told him how I poisoned my Husband and pillaged his corpse of his heirlooms when I realized his fortunes and estates were bankrupt. I didn't even tell him about the years of abuse I endured at his hand. No explanation, just that I did so. To me it felt self evident that he deserved to die in my mind."

She cocked her head to the side as she gazed at Magnus, her eyes narrowing a bit more. "He didn't even ask why I killed my husband either. He just... assumed that I had good reason to," she then said with a dry chuckle. She paused a moment. "He knows I am... was... a murdering, lying, thieving, poisonous robber in the night. But unless I provided the details he never really asked. I can't be sure but I don't think I told him about the two Watchmen I butchered that night with my pickaxe. If I did, he certainly never brought it up with me."

Her eyes looked off to the side a bit, visualizing those first kills as she searched for her late Husbands tomb. It was murder but she never even contemplated it much beyond the visceral act itself. "He really... didn't seem invested in exploring my past. He'd listen when I offered but as time went on, I just didn't want to dwell on the past either. So it went unsaid. Which, I suppose is probably why I'm here," she then admitted in reflection.

"It sounds like he knows but if not, tell him. it's not good to hide secrets from your loved ones. But...you and I are more alike than you think."

Magnus took from his bag what looked like the skull of a human woman, coated in silver and encrusted with flawless sapphires.

"This thing is my most prized trophy kill even more so than Alduin Have you ever wondered why I decided to be an adventurer or why I despise intrigue and deception so much? When I was a baby, my father Died in the First Great War and my mom was turned into a vampire and kidnapped by a coven. I was raised in an orphanage in riften under the cruel hand of a woman ironically called "Grelod the Kind" at six years old I fled the orphanage by the age of eight I was taken in by the Dark Brotherhood. I was the Dark Brotherhood raised like a fellow brother by a few, but I was abused by it's leader, a woman called Astrid. for fifteen years I worked as an assassin becoming one of the best in the brotherhood the art of poison-making, how to hide in the shadows, how to plot and plan, trust me I know all the tricks. One day, I was hired for a contract by a man to take out a target, only to soon find that said target was his pregnant wife. I refused and instead split the client's belly open and shoved his intestines into a meat grinder, then I walked out on the brotherhood, I traded my cowl for a helmet and shield and never looked back, The next time Astrid and I saw each other again she tried to force me back into The Brotherhood, and I took great pleasure her head from her body and turning her skull into this trophy you see before you. After that, I wiped the brotherhood from the face of the earth.

"In short, I know what it's like to be in a situation like yours Aubrey. I know what it's like to be seen as lower than scum....to feel like you are lower than scum. I know what it's like to be forced into a situation you have no control over and to be abused by the one person who is supposed to care for you. You've been gifted the keys to my son's heart Aubrey. I've never seen him as happy as he is with you. To an extent, you've stolen the keys to my heart as well. I said I see you as a daughter, but the truth is, I look at you and I see myself when I was your age. it's for these reasons that I'm betrothing you to my son and giving you the keys to my kingdom."

His face darkened just slightly, and he leaned closer.

"I want to make one thing clear however, and This is not me speaking as a king, this is me speaking as a father and an honor-bound Nord warrior. my son is very tenderhearted, and he's given you, his heart. If you do anything to shatter it, if I find you betrayed him in a way that he cannot forgive, if you treat him like your previous husband treated you, or worse you murder him without provocation there won't be a place in the heavens or on Nirn where I won't find you. and I will gladly make you suffer Astrid's fate."

He spoke in a way to make sure that this was not a threat, it was a promise. "Likewise, this works in reverse as well. If my son dishonors me by abusing you as your previous husband did, tell me immediately and I shall avenge you and make him pay dearly."

he then slumped back. "I want to give you the sort of second chance in life I was given Aubrey. I want to make sure you want for nothing. Whatever you desire it shall be yours. What I ask for in return is simple. No more murder of the innocent, no more petty thievery, and love my son to the best of your ability. "Do you understand?"

Aubrey looked almost genuinely captivated by his tale, knowing well of the Dark Brotherhood and its reputation. Or rather the reputation it once had. They had been decimated in the North but Aubrey only heard the second and third hand tales of how their downfall came about, though the famous Dragonborn having been a prime mover of their demise, at this juncture, was certainly unsurprising. She was too drawn into his story to dwell on the particulars too much, though she hoped she had hidden the reflexive glimmer in her eyes upon seeing that jeweled silver skull. It wasn't that she was plotting on taking it but the appeal of the sight was almost instinctive to her now.

When he leaned in and offered his warning, it almost came as a salve. This was the Paternal discussion she was more expectant of, even though she never thought she'd get to the betrothal stage of course. Maintaining her poise, she listened to his words nonetheless, just to ensure there was no mistake in her comprehension of his requirements of her, and of him too interestingly enough. King Magnus really seemed invested in moving contrary to his upbringing, which made her thing of the potential comparisons to herself naturally as he stated.

When he made his final terms clear, she didn't need too much time to dwell on a response. "Yes Sire," she then stated simply, wondering if she should've proffered up extra excuses or context for what she did, or discuss minor particulars about the absolute nature of the statement, but decided to keep it simple. "I already feel like I've already fallen within those guidelines due to the love I have for your Son my Lord. But I will make my past indiscretions known to him in full as you request." she then added with a solemn nod, unused to the almost stifling yet subtle heavy mood that seemed to swirl about her as the conversation developed.

Magnus's face genuinly softened and a warm smile formed on his face. Yes in many ways this woman was like how he once was. He had a feeling this woman would be just fine.

"Good" he spoke with visible relief in his voice. "I should make it clear that I have no issue with you going into a haunted crypt or a cursed tomb, again that's how I made my living when I quit being an assassin. Now, I have a couple of gifts for you, you can consider these early wedding gifts, hopefully, they represent a perfect blend of a shadowy adventurer and a fair noblewoman. If you don't want to use these it's fine."

He pulled out a fine leather gauntlet that appeared to have something attached to it.

"This is my hidden blade. It was my go-to weapon while I was an assassin in the Dark Brotherhood and it's still useful in a pitch, and you can hide it in any piece of clothing. I'll show you."

He activated the mechanism within the leather gauntlet and out of the attachment shot out an ebony dagger. "Where once this was mine now this is yours. I also have this."

He reached from behind one of the curtains revealing an umbrella. Magnus pulled at the bottem of the umbrella and a sword came out.

"I crafted this myself.
part of being an assassin was making weapons that can easily be hidden or look in inconspicuous. I guess old habits die hard. The blade type is the sort used by my personal security force called The Blades." he swung the sword, to demonstrate it.

"Not sure if you'll have as much use for it as a grave robber but who knows maybe it'll rain during one of your adventures." he grinned slightly. "Considering how you and Kodlak like to..."Know" each other. It could be you may find you end up giving that old life up and becoming a fat and jovial aristocratic broodqueen (meaning a woman who has spent a good chunk of her life pregnant and/or has many children) who enjoys the finer things in life like throwing parties or festivals. In any case, whatever happens, this will provide you with... elegant protection. I have other gifts for you as well, but I want to wait till the wedding before I give them to you."

Lady Aubrey was clearly taken aback by the gifts and her inability to offer up anything more than an astonished thanks as he offered the hidden and holdout weapons. The fact that the famous King of Skyrim and Dragonborn was an Assassin of the Dark Brotherhood was already making her mind spin still even as he offered up the boons that she hoped she didn't sound like a dumbstruck dullard as she churlishly accepted the gifts, unsure of what else to say but fumbling her delivery of a thanks. They were clearly heartfelt gifts, prized heirlooms of his past and she was sincere in her acceptance of them.

While they seemed to have limited utility now, with the impending nuptials all but a given, being able to utilize such specialized gifts would undoubtedly be useful for a future rife with ballrooms and banquets. The fact he crafted the Umbrella sword himself made her even more curious to take a look at the craftsmanship within, at the appropriate time. She wasn't much of a crafter herself, but such things did often ignite her curiosity. The fact it was one the weapons of 'the Blades' just made it more intriguing for later study.

"Well... I'll see about the one kid I'm having already and the Prince and I can go from there," Aubrey then said in response to his subsequent comments. "I'm sure it won't be a problem though. We weren't even trying before and look what happened," she then added sardonically in reference to her pregnancy as he explained further gifts would be coming.

"Oh... plying me with gifts is a certain cure for chronic pilfering," she then added, as she tried to recall the nuptials she had when she was but a teenager and her families holdings matched with a suitably arranged husband. The gifts showered upon them then had been impressive, especially to her as she was just a lass at the time, but marrying the Prince of Skyrim would outdo any marriage ceremony in scale or grandeur that she had ever witnessed and she would be in the center of it all with all of the scandal and celebration coming forth.

She thought her time as a mercenary and robber would've been a peak for her in some respects. But now she was going to be living in even more interesting times, and likely without the need of shedding blood or wettening her blades. Likely...

"No worries. You are more of a rouge than my son is so you will probably find more use for them than he will. The umbrella part of the blade is not as hard as you'd think. It's mainly a matter of fitting the spring mechanism of the umbrella around a Scareb that can fit the blade. The blade is a little trickier, I'll have to tell Baurus how to teach you how to make them. As for me, I'll never part from my Skyforge steel sword unless I pass it down to one of my grandchildren."

"Anytime. To be perfectly upfront. Part of the reason why I'm doing as big a grand a ceremony as I am is to counteract the hard time the noblemen will try to give you." Magnus chuckled. "They won't have much room to talk if there is a giant festival and holiday behind it. I'm willing to dedicate an entire week to your marriage, and give the people of Skyrim to really remember you by.
