Is this bait? Honestly I could couldn't care less about Jenner or anything anybody has to say about her that isn't just stereotypical complaints about her professed sex.
How about her bad policies? Why don't we talk about that?
The policies aren’t so important. It’s that this person is running under the banner of the Republicans with their backing. They care deeply about his professed sex. That’s why they are pushing for them to take governance.
It’s an extremely basic talking point of the milquetoast conservatarians that they are against identity politics, they are all about individualism and meritocracy and not hiring or supporting or pushing for people because they are a woman or a minority. For the Republican leadership and machine politics however, that is exactly what they are doing with politicians and candidates like Tim Scott and now Jenner. Their expressed strategy for the next cycle has literally been “back more women and minority candidates.” At that point, when both sides are now backing women and minority politicians and leaders explicitly because they are so and discriminating against white men, what’s the point then?
There’s also the fact that the Republican Party is the only party that is available to conservatism and transgenderism by its very nature is antithetical to conservatism, and yet the Republicans are basically taking our support and our vote and our loyalty totally for granted and expecting us to line up to vote like good little loyalists even though we don’t get anything we want in return.
There’s also the fact that this is complete capitulation to the left wing social and political views, attempting to cede ground entirely on these issues in order to win. It’s likely why both Dakotas and Arkansas had their Governors pathetically veto bills that would stop children from being subjected to chemical castration or women’s sports not being able to exclude men from participation. This is a part of an attempt to not push back at all against the LGBT agenda in the hopes of somehow getting more of their votes by pandering to them. The issue is that this allows the left wing to be like a freight train pushing ever left while the right trudges along right behind them, adopting all their positions they used to have just a few years ago and calling that conservative.
Meanwhile, much of their base has not moved left socially at all, are in fact sick of all this and want to do something about it and pass policies and fight back. The election of Trump should have been definitive proof of that, but the Establishment is working to undermine all of his revolution, the revolutionary idea of drawing lines in the sand and saying, “no, we aren’t going to capitulate to you. In fact, we are going to fight back and push for what we want.”
Basically, this is a move that no one on the right, whether you are a classical liberal or a paleocon or otherwise R voter should support, because it’s in total violation of their constituents views and a gross slap in the face to the basic ideas pushed by nearly everyone on the right. This is left wing identity politics that the right is trying to play through and through, so if you say you oppose that you also need to oppose Jenner and their run, because that is absolutely based on identity politics. If your take is that “oh let’s just talk about policies” but you are totally willing to ignore the elephant in the room of the fact that this is blatantly Republican leadership playing left wing identity politics via pushing this run, then you are a coward.
