I’ll just say this, I think this version of Bran could become Master of Whispers....things would be near Orwellian with him watching

Thinking of that, why does King Bran need a master of whisperers?

King Bran? I don’t think he has that ambition

Nor does he have bloodline legitimacy unless he say, marries Myrcella(and no one knows or suspects the incest)or Shireen and possible Baratheon(or Targaryen and Blackfyre)heirs are dead

I was referring to the end of the show.

Also Bran being king has been all but confirmed by GRRM.

It will probably be more mystical in the books.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Bran learns to do “Body Supremacy” given that GRRM read Dune

Warg/Skinchanger Powers may or may not actually need the brain

Wait, what?! When was this?
Uh, give me about a day I'll need to hunt up the sources.

Here ya go.

Martin had a blog post somewhere as well.

Its basically uncontested at this point. Given it is probably the most important "major beat" of the ending.

A cripple king, doubt he can even have heirs, though perhaps another Warring States Era occurs

Actually, as I understand it, it is in fact possible for a cripple to produce heirs. It would just be really *difficult*, to say nothing of the weirdness factor.

More likely the Iron Throne becomes an elective monarchy after he dies, though, with the king chosen similar to the manner they used in the HRE. Not that it bodes well for Westeros as a whole, but hey. Story is over, who cares?

That does explains why GRRM basically gave up writing the books. He want an impossible ending and keeps failing to find a way to end their without it being utter bullshit like in GoT.

That's probably part of it. It also doesn't help that he started writing late and has all these side ventures like Fire & Blood, which, despite his claims, really *don't* enrich the universe the way Tolkien did with his.

However, speaking as someone who has fits and starts over writing a fanfiction with ASOIAF myself, it can be hard to write something you're already visualizing in your head. *You* know the story and how you want it to go, but when you read it, it's like..."eh, maybe this doesn't work," or "come on, skip to the fun parts...oh."

I've been trying to put together a fic from the Dance of the Dragons era, and while I've had some early stuff completed, it's not really satisfying when I go over, and I keep wanting to make changes. It helps that I can (and do) use the CK2 mod as an inspiration if I get stuck on a "now what?" point, but coming up with some plausible reasons for "how I managed to pull of X" can be tricky.

So given this is the Rec's thread as well, I figured I'd toss one in.

Baked, by AsbestosMouth.

It's a crossover between ASOIAF and the Great Britain Bake Off, a baking competition. It's hilarious. Some highlights are Ramsey Bolton trying (and succeeding) to express his murderous rage through baking, the constant innuendos (which is a holdover from GBBO), and the rest of the cast being similarly dysfunctional. I really recommend it.

My mother loves that show for some reason.

Regarding somewhat more serious fics.

Life and Honor has updated recently.

A little late-but also Show Chapter | Archive of Our Own

A Rose and a Lion or ARAAL has updated as well(this is one of the three ASOIAF fanfics I’m still following these days).

Also Purple Days-for anyone in the know is speeding towards its end. So if your following it or are interested. I suggest you check it out.

So Balon/Ironborn Wot5K wank.

How do we have the Ironborn rule Westeros or large parts of it.

Here's a rough idea.

Basically a collection of things.

Firstly-Theon and the Ironborn sack Casterly Rock and take the westerlands coast, with Stannis taking King's Landing, Stannis is however unable to press his claim forward, either fighting Robb in the Riverlands or being assassinated possibly by Varys. Theon takes Genna Lannister as a salt wife, after Emmon is killed, along with her sons. The other Lannisters not in the west die fighting or are executed(or sent to the wall-depending on the judgment of whoever their captors are).

Robb however dies anyway, possibly in battle. I dunno, say war with Stannis breaks out-Stannis demands Robb bend the knee, but with the Lannisters vanquished, Robb has no need of Stannis and the northern lords have no desire to kneel either, so Robb is pressured into fighting, when negotiations go nowhere. Fighting spreads to the northern reach, western crownlands and northern riverlands, with the Vale still remaining neutral.

Concomitant with Stannis victory, a power struggle erupts in the Reach, but with Stannis occupied fighting in the Riverlands, the Tyrell-Hightower bloc holds out but the region descends into civil war, Robb in the course of hard fighting is forced to call upon more levies from the north-and Manderly's fleet, which descends and lays siege to Dragonstone, eventually both Robb and Stannis die, due to assassination or otherwise unclear means. House Baratheon of Dragonstone disintegrates-but the Florents fight harder for Shireen, the westermen assault Casterly Rock and are defeated, with most lords bending the knee to Prince Theon Lord of the Isles and the Rock. The reach collapses, with Mace Tyrell slain, alongside Alester and Axell Florent, and with Margaery being evacuated to Oldtown after Highgarden was sacked by House Florent(in a bloody and pyrhic victory) House Tyrell collapses after a few lost battles, though House Florent can not profit and many of the reach lords simply go home. Thus allowing Victation to seize the shield Islands, and destroy the Hightower Fleet at anchor. The Redwyne fleet, is sunk in a great storm pursuing them, thus leaving the reach defenseless. Victarion manages to capture the rose of Highgarden and takes her to wife, albeit unenthusiastically(mostly because Balon told him to), the reach falls with Ironborn reavers sailing up and down the Mander and destroying several reach armies.

Further adventures in the Riverlands, with the fall of Seaguard to Rodrick Harlaw, and the capture of Deepwood Motte, presage a total Ironborn resurgence, the wall falls, but the Ironborn stick to the northern coast(by now they are spread extremely thin and rely on local auxiliaries).

Aegon VI lands in the Stormlands and Dornish armies join him and KL surrenders without a fight(after Stannis died a collection of narrow sea and crownlords ruled the city as a joint endeavor). In the next two years Ironborn reavers successfully secure control of the sunset sea and even raid Dorne and the Stormlands. Balon dies in his sleep peacefully, Theon ascends to the Seastone chair, and smashes Euron who attempted to contest his claim with force of arms.

All hail Theon Greyjoy-Lord of the Iron Islands, Prince of the Rock and the West, and King of the Sunset Sea.

Ironborn wank.

Probably totally implausible, but just an idea I had.

Theon takes Genna Lannister as a Salt Wife....didn’t think he liked women old enough to be his grandma and of big boned physiques, though she was different looking when she was younger, I think

Genna isn't that old. She's about 55 or so. And is mostly for legitimacy purposes. So maybe make that Rock Wife.

Theon has likely taken younger more good looking women with lion blood to actually warm his bed.

Also theon bedded women older than him-the Miller's wife is probably at least ten if not twenty years older than him.

There's also the power trip, "I'm fucking Tywin Lannister's sister, I'm awesome".

Okay, admittedly I gotta say, medieval times freak me out with this casual big age gap fucking and marrying they do

Idea: Maegor The Cruel is born female, unfortunately she’s NOT a nice girl at all

She’s a bitch to “Onii-chan” basically dominates him

Gets sword training lessons in spite of Septs’ complaints

Maybe even has relations with boys and men outside of her marriage to Aenys and may produce bastards

Aegon The Conqueror gets sorta alarmed at this all, unlike canon

Can't get legitimacy through marriage unless the union is fertile. Stafford Lannister's eldest child is a knight of 24 years... with two younger sisters. One of those girls could be Theon's ticket in.

Surprised you put out anything that involves Tywin losing, but I suppose you did say it was a wank for one of his enemies.

Just because I'm a Lannister fan doesn't mean I can't imagine scenarios where they lose. Or are you insinuating I'm incapable of conceiving otherwise?

Sure, have Theon marry Myrielle or Cerenna, or hell both if your in the mood.

What exactly is this supposed to mean? Its an Ironborn wank. Yes?

I have no idea what your implying here, so feel free to clarify.

I'm capable of conceiving AUs where everything turns out great for Ramsay Snow. I desire to post exactly none of them. I figured you held a similar attitude toward AUs where things turn out worse for House Lannister.
