Honestly, I agree to an extent. I am brainstorming an alt-history which doesn't do that *shrugs*
It really started when they drove caoster away. I can understand writing about conflicting values and efforts to change things but making the third president black in your story ruins it for me as I honestly can't see that happening without mind control or something. I can't imagine people accepting it back then, they barely did it now. And that isn't even touching transgender shit shoehorned into stories.
