Fox 26 KRIV-TV Houston political reporter Greg Groogan of 'What's Your Point' believes Senator Cornyn will NOT be seeking reelection to a 5th term in 2026. Paxton's obviously gunning for Cornyn's US Senate seat in two years.

If Paxton were to win the nomination I'd call it a gift to Democrats. I've only paid superficial attention but from what I've heard it seems more likely than not that at least some of the allegations are well founded. They could hardly ask for an opponent against whom they have so much centrist-calibrated ammo available to use.

On the other hand, if you are unshakably confident Texas won't send a Democrat to the US Senate then it would be a very clever ploy to get Democrats to waste a ton of resources, but that strikes me as too risky.

The impeachment acquittal showed clearly that all the supposed evidence was trumped up BS.

At least one of those who voted to acquit feels betrayed by Paxton's latest legal strategy of offering to plead no contest to the whistleblowing charge on the condition that he not be deposed.

Montana Congressman Matt Rosendale, who just last week announced a highly anticipated run for U.S. Senate, is dropping his campaign after former President Donald Trump — the ultimate kingmaker in modern GOP politics — endorsed his primary opponent Tim Sheehy last Friday, shortly after Rosendale's announcement.
