United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

But we know he didn't break the neck, and if the early autopsy data is to be believed, didn't strangle him either. The court is supposed to sentence him for things he has done, not for things he *might* have possibly done but didn't happen. He had a pretty screwed up hold, but that's procedure...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

"Can" is an extremely dangerous qualifier to use. In a sufficiently unusual set of circumstances, all sorts of things you normally would not think about in the heat of a moment *can* kill with some low or not so low probability. Add to that the inherent nature of police work, and it's not going...

Unless the whole jury rolls with it, that's a hung jury.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

The problem here is that these are emotionally loaded phrases that also have certain (dunno how clear) legal meaning that probably is not exactly the same as the common language, emotionally laden meaning you are implying here is. That part for any remotely experienced cop is the very...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

But the autopsy data so far suggests that it didn't kill him, as in a healthy person would not die from it, and cops generally don't have access to and actionable interpretation of medical records of a suspect on a whim. Long story short, prosecution has only what is on camera, and digging for...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Different cops, trainers and police departments to some degree have different standards and training regimes. And once we go into the territory of "kinda harm, but not to the degree where it could be prosecutable" that gets more complicated, for one who is to determine if its harm, not harm, or...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Cops don't come with built in suspect's life signs monitors. As others said, if he was applying the knee a few inches lower, nothing would have happened, and it would have been normal procedure then. It is the sort of detail that could be ascribed to incompetence.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

You give special attention to this because of the perspective you are looking at it from. A cop with some experience is bound to begin seeing such a situation as routine, not as extraordinary emergency with human life at stake. If he's poorly trained, his routine will end up sloppy, and he won't...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Calling it heinous disregard for human life does require the person(s) involved to know that they are killing the guy and proceed regardless. Proving such a claim would be far from trivial, while professional incompetence is just obvious and well documented.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Yes, and if the cop didn't know that detail and didn't adjust his actions based upon this knowledge, that's incompetence. How is calling it incompetence or professional malpractice "excusing it"?

Watch the video from this post then. https://www.the-sietch.com/index.php?threads/minnesota-man-dies-during-arrest-cause-being-a-cop-kneeling-on-his-neck.2668/post-65876 It does explain why the cop would be doing that, what were his mistakes, and how he should be doing it properly.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Yup. If you watch lots of arrest videos, both from the funny, odd and tragic categories, its a common feature. It may look unusual that the cops don't react to it, outrageous to people dedicated to a narrative, but in reality by any chance this cop has probably heard it many, many times, and all...
