So, this is a thread to reflect on, celebrate and joke about a ten month long wild ride where we have just moved into position as the third largest (albeit much smaller than 1 and 2) of the daughter or splinter forums of spacebattles. We now stand poised ready to continue growth, and with this milestone I just want to celebrate a moment the accomplishment that we all collectively made in spite of the continuous efforts to repress and slander us. It means among other things that we had more posts in the past 10 months than stardestroyer.net did in the past 3.5 yrs, and in fact, we're running at 11% of the traffic of alternatehistory.com at present.

I was invited by @Urabrask Revealed after I was banned from SB on a political purge. I recall honestly not being too enthused at first, it was a small site with people I mostly did not know. I had been banned from a larger forum to get a smaller forum and I wasn't particularly happy about it.

But in the months I have been here, I am proud to call myself a Sietcher and find the people here to be kind, smart, and fun to debate and discuss things with. I can express my thoughts and sentiments without the constant concern of self moderation lest I be penalized.

This site is what the internet ought to be-free discussion unfettered by fear of ostracism or social pressure.

I have posted my first serious fanfic here and will continue it for the future.

To give specific thanks, I would thank Zoe for her kindness, generosity, and always splendid insights, Spartan for his advice and character, which I respect a great deal, Peregry for the invite who doesn't always give his opinions but when they do they are well researched, profound and irrefutable. I would also like to thank @Urabrask Revealed for the invite.

I look forward to being a member here for years to come, and I am glad to be a member of The Sietch.

I thought Sietch was 4th, behind SV, QQ, and AH. Which one of them did we pass?

Also how many splinter forums are there out there?

AH is as old as spacebattles. Its traffic levels have also really declined. Reddit’s alternate maps is where the fun is.

Questionable Questing was being counted as one despite the debate over whether or not it really counts. The next tier which we just beat are FiC and StarFleetJedi. Then there's smugcat and Digital Wild West at the bottom. I think there's been several others but I can't quite remember them.

Next up is indeed passing QQ's SFW section, and also the now-offline Librium Arcana, which was a splinter forum of SDN. Both require us to get to about 250k posts. Our current project for the end of our first year of operations is 85,000 posts and of course we'd like to grow that.

AH.com can be divided into Chat, Map Games, ASOIAF fanficcers, and that’s probably it-in terms of the most activity on the site.

ASB has declined over the years, and the pre and post 1900 sections have ongoing timelines but their not where the active user base congregates.

It’s the biggest Alternate History site on the English speaking internet and the only one that matters, splinter boards have been tried and failed.

My understanding is that, nonetheless, they only do about 2,700 posts a day, give or take.

Well no offense to the man but head of AH is pretty biased in his political convictions at time and insanely ban happy at other if they don't follow them, (The Admin's bias in any form of IsraelxPalestinian debate's is legendary.) it's little wonder they lose so many people.

Also can anybody tell me the history of how this site came be and splinter from SB? Because I am new and deeply curious of how it happened...

Most of the userbase are Authors from SB creative writing or SB questers that decided they wanted to do something a bit too spicy for SB. Couple of the better QMs such as Lost Star have moved over there.

Still, most of the posts are related to politics and it takes awhile for chapters of the stuff I watch here to come in
