China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

Good, the whole bill is crap. I kinda hope the whole thing just dies.

Because it will accidentally somehow end up hurting the people it’s aimed to help? Like how I think Obamacare was gonna require even businesses that couldn’t afford a healthcare plan to provide one for all their employees and might have raised prices for medical services or like requiring contractors in California to be full time workers accidentally resulted in screwing said former contractors over

You guys almost all prefer charities over welfare from what I understand

There is maybe one or two useful parts of the bill. But ultimately, most of it is just welfare expansions. The previous, already signed bill, had most of the stuff needed, like paying for test kits, etc.

TBF for guys who like welfare, the whole thing or weakness of charities, is that it’s NOT a constant stream that will come on fixed times

It depends on the person and how the person is feeling like atm

Even worse, people may just be doing charities to look good in front of the public or are using a privately funded orphanage to be horrible horrible horrible people in secret amongst other things

Also, there’s a sense of assurance when it comes to laws, even if the police fail to come, you’re first instinct is that they will come because it’s their job rather than trusting for people to do self defence and you are afraid and mistrustful of the general populace or even their next door neighbors.

And if someone actually does genuinely do charity, well you can get a sense that they’re looking down on you as they are helping you

Though there maybe a difference between helping someone out of pity and helping someone out of empathy

His administration is also still planning to go ahead with cutting the funding for the CDC as well as an emergency fund for infectious disease.
.
This isn't SB where you can hide behind an inability of people to challenge bad faith articles just because they are attacking Trump.
"This figure reflects that the Administration is prioritizing funding for infectious disease and emergency preparedness efforts at CDC, compared to non-infectious activities, like studying the health and safety risks of infrequent bathroom breaks for taxi drivers," they added.

The problem with government 'help' is that they are crap at it, and make things worse. Government 'helped' by stopping private companies from creating tests and insisting on a flawed test.

Hey, taxi drivers are a vital part or the economy

Also, kinda late but maybe best be polite, guy is still sorta hesitating on seeing the whole “other side” atm

Me pointing out out surprisingly diverse members like Abhorsen being around kinda helps

But it’s there and to begin with, I don’t think many people pay attention to stuff like their help being unintentionally crappy, governments are sorta like fairy godparents who can grant any wish

So? It's the government screwing everything up again. Speaking of which, that sounds like a fun thread game.

They can always blame it on the private sector or say that the government just doesn’t have enough to do it or there are evil right wingers screwing it up

Yes? I mean. They should have shut down travel the moment China announced the disease instead of waiting months.

China is heavily involved with the world economy though

In the same year he had withdrawn money set aside for Ebola, money intentionally left to help nip future outbreaks in the bud.

According to the Whitehouse link it was withdrawn because it was a quarter billion dollars sitting in a fund for an Ebola outbreak that ended over three years ago.

The Atlantic said:
The United States is already forgetting. Just as news of the Ebola outbreak broke, Donald Trump asked Congress to rescind $252 million that had been put aside to deal with Ebola, as part of a broader move to cut down on “excessive spending.” That pot of money is the leftover from a $5.4 billion sum that Congress appropriated for dealing with the West African Ebola epidemic in 2015.

That epidemic ended two years ago, but “having some money left over was intentional,” says Ron Klain, the former Ebola czar. It allows USAID to quickly deploy responders to the site of a future outbreak, to prevent it from metastasizing into an international disaster. It is not, as the Trump administration suggests, an example of “irresponsible federal spending.” Quite the opposite: It’s a savvy investment, since epidemics are always more expensive to deal with once they rage out of control.

Congress has 45 days from the time of Trump’s request to act, during which time the $252 million is frozen. If they vote it down, or simply ignore it, the funds will be spent as intended. But “if Congress accepts Trump’s proposal, USAID will have no funding for a response when the next crisis comes,” says Klain, “and it will have to wait until Congress passes new funding, or diverts funds from some other, then-existing disaster response.”

“It is crazily short-sighted to do this,” he adds.

So basically Congress has to actively vote the money away NOW that there is another outbreak over three years later. And if it is voted down, then they can pass new funding or just use emergency funding like they did last time. Seems like much ado about nothing since Trump isn't a clairvoyant and it's a quarter billion dollars that was sitting idle indefinitely.

Since you posted the article can you tell us if it was rescinded and how bad the Ebola outbreak was?

He’s gone....I think all this talk back is a real surprise
Or, you know, it might be because they're not on 24/7, paying attention to every single post that happens the instant it happens.

Or that he may be just taking what you said into consideration and thinking about what to say.

Or because it was literally less than ten minutes before you jumped in and said "He's gone."

Or about a hundred other things other than the worst possible interpretation?

Are Ad Hominem attacks any better?

Sorry, it’s just that when it comes to forums and reddit, let’s just say when I got freetime I’m usually almost always logged on. Or reading a book or playing a game

Yeah, I’m sorta logged in 24/7 even when I’m not using it
