'Need' has nothing to do with it.

If the CCP were rational, they would have continued free market reforms, had actual anti-corruption purges, and become insanely prosperous under the US-led world order.

It's about pride and power. While it is usually translated as 'The Middle Kingdom,' another, possibly more appropriate translation, is 'The Kingdom at the center of the earth.' There's a long history of Chinese arrogance about being the civilizational center around which the rest of the world orbits.

And now you have a pack of corrupt, power-made communists running that, with 'face' culture making everything worse.

It's not about 'need,' it's about 'we must be the rulers of the world.'

The problem is China has been using the farms to manipulate the price to drive farmers out of business. Allowing China to grab more land. Or they export their dirty tactics to force the stubborn farmers out.

@LordsFire the other name translates to Heaven Set Upon Earth. China is the center upon which the Chinese cosmos revolves. Literally. It's one of the sources of Chinese arrogance. No matter how untrue it may be. In their view if it's bad in China it must be hell outside it.
 
And China is shooting themselves in the foot by basically becoming a more powerful North Korea

You say that as if any government on earth is perfectly rational.

And maybe that’s the case with China, but they’re still managing my to run rings around the west in quite a few ways. So that sounds a lot like cope to me.

They’ve got spies and fingers in our governments for one. They’ve been stealing and reverse engineering our tech for years, albeit some what shoddily.

Then there’s their influence on the school system. Oh and they‘ve got an insanely popular giant social media site that’s been pushing degeneracy and insanity throughout the west onto the next generations- TikTok.

Ahh yes.
Running rings around the west by things that they can barely control as is, and the last one is still able to be fucked up if the west is smart. It ain't true, which is true.

And reverse engineer. You mean take the bare minimum they can get, and attempt to make it to the same level, but out if Tofudreg?

And the spies aspect.
They are not as entangled as much as you think they are.
Or we would never have sent as many arms to Taiwan as we have, nor would our alliance with Phillipines, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea be as strong....


So, outside of those.
What exactly are they doing better then the west in? Because these really arnt any better. Thier whole economy relies on the US and our allies.

The fact that they can pull off any of that at all should worry you given the apparent disparity between the West and China.

As the bolder part proves my point from earlier in the thread- China would be stupid to go to war with the USA. Just as they rely on us, we also rely on them.

But they also have a leader who happens to be causing the US and foreign markets to leave.
Has had the largest flooding in hundreds if years happen under him.
Thw failure of zero covid.
And, has the will and want to get Taiwan.

So a lot like how certain Western powers see themselves then? Like your own view about how China should revolve around the US-led power structure?

(Or how a certain user of this site wants to see his Eastern European nation- whose name starts with ‘P’ and ends with ‘d’- in relation to Europe? :p)

And yes, I think the current US leadership is a pathetic shadow compared to what it was under Washington. And Biden himself isn’t fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as Washington. Though I fail to see how that’s spicy.

Because the first two don’t view the USA as a mortal enemy as far as I know.

As for the later, it’s a mix of trying to get more power over their neighbors and taking the stupid infidels for a ride while they infiltrate them.
