There aren't many defending him, other than his relatives and George Santos who no doubt sympathizes with his plight. Menendez is resisting pressure to resign so far but I suspect he'll eventually cave in. If he doesn't, it will be interesting to see whether Senate Democrats try to expel him and whether Republicans cooperate. You'd think they'd leap at the chance to kick a Democrat out in disgrace but it's conceivable that they would refuse due to a better chance of capturing his seat if he's still in office. I imagine that he will probably lose his primary and if so it's unknown how much this will hurt whatever Democrat runs for his seat.
