Arch Warhammer reddit ban and community polarization

The vast majority of the Imperium's planets are in fact Civilised Worlds, which generally are more authoritarian versions of our Earth with access to science-fictional levels of tech.

The Imperium even in the Great Crusade era had class systems and noble titles as I recall, so in theory should be kinda easier to find the “more privilaged” members of Imperial societies

Also, wasn’t WH40K made during Margaret Thatcher’s era? Like it and 2000 AD’s Judge Dredd were supposed to poke fun or criticise it somehow

I wouldn't call early 40k a parody so much as a ramshackle mixture of various science-fiction and fantasy works in British pop-culture at the time, so much as D&D was a ramshackle mixture of various high-fantasy and sword-and-sorcery works - and nobody calls D&D a parody!

Man, I'm remembering some guys on SB once saying how D&D made the Drow Matriarchal because they wanted to pander to Christians who thought feminism was bad alongside other edgy stuff

And may have made demons go under different names because Religious Right and such

Apparently the Sigmarxism chaps are unironically supporting Iran after the recent incident ...

... while still considering fans of the IoM to be "crypto-fascists".

So completely without caveats? Typical...

What Sigmar, Sigmarxism. Sieg Mar. Sieg Marxism.

National Bolsheviks confirmed.

I'm pretty sure you can be a fan of the IoM whilst still being a Neo-Marxist, look at GuestLurker and JayFiction on SB

In-Hindsight, I think rather than JUST outright Communism, I've seen guys who're fans of the concept of overly centralized powers with planned economies that give welfare at the very least

A Feudalism or Aristocracy that gives welfare would be seen as nice enough maybe

It's a rather bizarre pathology, the demonisation of whoever is "in charge" simply for being "in charge" - and the concomitant glorification of "the underdog" simply for being "the underdog".

I agree, it is a bizarre one. Power does not denote moral quality in either direction. It can be an indicator, and can be quite correlative. But, just because one is an underdog, does not mean they are right. And sometimes the underdog was a dick too, though to a lesser scale than their opposition, see Galileo.

I am pretty sure as well. I was making fun of them, by claiming they were National Bolsheviks.

Kinda funny to me too, honestly, I think while it may seem contradictory at first glance, socialism could be folded with Theocracies, Feudalisms/Aristocracies, Technocracies & Corporatists even.

All they gotta do is provide welfare, or have really planned out economies and holds over stuff like trade and work

I like how people still push the "It's a political parody!" angle in spite of the fact 40k is nothing alike its 1st Edition counterpart from a lore or tabletop perspective.

And ... even in 1st Edition Chaos and the entities of the Warp are still a real threat, the Emperor is still a superbeing whose goal is to safely guide the ascension of humanity.

It's been literal decades since the "it's a parody" argument could be made in good faith.

40k is it's own, serious setting now, and it has been this way for many years now. Anyone claiming "muh parody" is either an disingenuous asshole or have roughly fuck-all idea of what in the warp they are talking about.

Notwithstanding that 40k had highly serious elements from the start. It was never just a joke.

What I find interesting about this statement is that one can actually find the "muh parody" argument on sites that should in-theory know what in the Warp they're talking about.

I don't even think I've ever seen people arguing it, just making the assertion without evidence.
