Just from the trailer alone, it’s loaded in Woke shit the Tumblr crowd loves to death: Race-swapping the cast, Fred as an angry white male, Daphne and Velma are extremely gay, all things I can list off the top of my head without going back to once again waste two and a half more minutes of my life that I’ll never get back.

Sure, I doubt the average liberal likes it any more than the average conservative, but those 6,400 users who liked the trailer? Yeah, they’re members of the minority that probably does. Really, blaming the Right for everything is childish and narcissistic, as well as further evidence that many on the Left (such as the SB membership mentioned above) simply do not get it.

The reason that Hollywood leftists could make something as unredeemingly vile as the Velma show is because they don’t watch Fox News. Well, not Fox News in particular, but they live in their own little reality bubble full of obnoxiously woke smug limousine leftists and have very little contact or exposure to even normal left wing people much less conservatives. They basically reinforce each other’s biases until they spiral into their own alternative reality where people who don’t agree with them are Nazis and a show like Velma is clever and bold. They’ve taken it so far that they’ve even creeped out other leftists who are detached from reality, who now imagine that only conservatives could make a show so cartoonishly woke.

Yes, I’ve read the SpaceBattles thread about it. It’s cringy, though at least some of the posters there aren’t buying it.

Personally if I was to write the Velma show in a way that leftists will love it is pretty simple.

Keep the race swaps the same, instead of making Fred a dumbass make him transgender or non binary where Fred along with Co uses "They/Them" pronouns.

Don't make Velma a bitch just have the plot revolve around white characters being passively racist too her and co. Have the major antagonist being a charismatic rich white kid at school who has an orange tan and speaks like Trump.

The students get "brainwashed" by his charisma but the Velma see through the "bigotry and fear mongering" and are surprised no one else does.

The Velma group create a conspiracy about the Not Trump's ulterior motives and end up exposing him at the end.


Que every subsequent antagonist being a poor man's copy or analogy to other popular conservatives that leftists hate (Next is Jordan Peterson)

Honestly surprised we haven't had a woke show where the straight white male villain eventually becomes a transwomen ally of the main characters.

That seems to be the end goal of the activists writers at Hollywood anyway, to feminize men and demonize masculinity.

But then turn right around and have their female characters exemplify what would be called 'toxic masculinity' if those females were male. Sex flip Velma from the new show and she suddenly becomes toxically masculine, for all of her other intersectional good stuff.

However, on sleeping and reflecting on this I would opinion that it would be remarkably easy to Race-Flip Fred Jones, and without changing anything about him!?

Simply let it slip that he is actually mixed race. It doesn't have to be one of his parents or even grandparents. If the show was genuinely trying to be edgy, controversial and progressive they could do a story where the gang discover that one of his ancestors was a slave who was able to "Pass". (Possibly at least one of his relatives already knows this and has been trying to keep it a secret)
Of course this would require some actual honest insight and soul searching.

That would require a redemption arc, and those are somewhat out of fashion. The outrage mob does not forgive and so forgiving a character that did anything that might trigger them risks the outrage mob turning on you.
