Literally, the best part was Black Shaggy and the drug joke. And it was weak af.

This really feels like 'How do you do fellow kids?' coming from Millenials to Gen Z. And last I knew Black Twitter was pretty fucking upset about Black Velma and Black Shaggy.

Of course, the only white guy is an gigantic, incredible asshole.

The Trailer for Velma has dropped.

As of this posting, 6.7K thumbs up, 126K thumbs down.

Watched it yesterday. 🤮 🤮 🤮

Seriously, what in the goddamned fuck was that?! Recall something said elsewhere about how it was supposed to be “edgier” and “adulterated”, which Zombie Island and other older adaptations still pulled off while remaining true to the franchise. But even ignoring that, it’s also presentist rainbow-vomit loaded with current references that may not be relatable to future audiences — and thus, not as timeless as previous Scooby Doo adaptations were.

Oh, and before I forget, how the hell do you make a Scooby Doo series… without actually Scooby Doo in it?! Badly characterized as they are, at least the rest of the Mystery Gang is still there in some form — even though at this point, I’m starting to wish they weren’t. Frankly, these hacks should make their own terrible shows instead of ruining old favorites that previous generations of writers got right.

That's the point, though. They don't want to make their own stuff.

*Eyes Magical Girl Friendship Squad warily.*

You know… part of me can honestly sympathize with that. Still no excuse to destroy preexisting franchises, and you probably shouldn’t work in entertainment to begin with if that’s all you do, but I almost feel sorry for hacks who can only crank out crap instead of timeless art with a message that resonates with more people than just their peer group in the current year.

Honestly, that’s also why I’m banking on digital hobbyists and independent web creators finally churning out some good stuff in maybe a decade or so’s time, so that I finally have a non-childhood movie or series that I can enjoy. Maybe I’m biased, but I really think the late 2000s and early 2010s was the last gasp of Big Media creativity before it all went downhill.

I guess I can't feel any sympathy for people who destroy the things I love and make me seriously wonder whither they are doing it intentionally, or if they really are just so bad that they actually do think the shit they make is "better." :cautious:

Not very good or compelling ones, I'm guessing?

Obviously, I assume they bombarded the audience with "Marx good, Capitalism bad!" 24/7, as well as that there was no way to access apolitical media that just told a fun, engaging story without beating the audience over the head with propaganda at every turn.

Wow...their woke piece is so bad they have to blame it on the Right? HAH!
Yeah... everything in the post is a lie as well. Mindy Kaling isn't the showrunner, that's Charlie Grandy. Mindy Kaling is Velma's voice actress. Saying she said she was "Way Conservative" is just a touch misleading as well, she actually said "When I was young I was way conservative, I was so stupid."

She's been quite vehement that she's neither conservative nor a republican.

In fact, calling her a Republican is sexist.

Turns out they cracked the code and figured out why Velma sucks. It's because the show is so conservative.

The theory breaks down too, that this is what people like Fox talking heads keep telling everyone that this is what the Left wants. TV Executives heard this, thought there's a huge audience demand for the kind of things the right says there is in demand for, and made a show for that.
Basically a self-fufiling prophecy.

(To be clear no-one, regardless of where their politics fall, likes this show and everyone thinks that calling it drivel would be insulting drivel. Saying that its for or from the left is just lazy)

Yeah, I watched Velma. It’s bad. Very bad. However bad you think it might be, it’s worse. Primarily it’s racist and the hatred directed towards whites in this show is visceral. It’s misandrist as well. It has this sort of pompous self congratulatory faux edginess as well, which hopefully doesn’t distract anyone from how very very radically left wing the show is. Making Velma and Daphne bisexual, including making out, is almost quaint and wholesome compared to the rest of the show.

It’s truly repugnant how they view Fred, the sole remaining white member of the original cast. Even though the show sucks, I suggest people at least watch an episode or two. White men you should see this - the Fred character and how he is portrayed - that is what Hollywood thinks of you.

The fact that some leftists think that this show is a conservative conspiracy just goes to show how addlebrained they are.
