Amazon Prime Rings of Power: Lord of the Rings on Amazon

Apparently, Amazon has suspended reviews entirely. MSM is hard on the case doing damage control and explaining that actually people love it and it's just an organized group of review bombers ruining things for everybody.

That just goes to show how arrogant, short-sighted, and stupid these people are; as anyone they trick into watching their show is going to realize how terrible it is pretty damn quick, and are not going to be sticking around for five whole seasons of this dreck.

Prolly not the point tho'. If Manager X can get enough people to look at it this week, it looks successful and he reaps the credit and has time to find a scapegoat for when it crashes and burns next week.

Stupid things corporations do make much more sense when considered from the standpoint that the various executives are actively trying to sabotage each other while pretending to work together.

So it is Tolkien in name only. Basically, like the Starship Troopers movie?

Starship Troopers was entertaining and actually had some interesting merit to it worth discussing for the discerning nerd.

The Starship Troopers movie as a metaphor would be like those Shadows of Mordor games I never played when it comes to their faithfulness to Tolkiens vision or lore. But those games were apparently like... Fun to play. This at the very least would have to be fun to watch... And not in the cringe or morbid curiosity sort of way.

Looks like Amazon will initiate a three day pause on all Amazon Content from now on to skew results more positive.

Amazon Prime’s plan may generate some controversy. Not only is it pausing initial reactions from viewers, but it could purposely skew their star rating system in favor of movies and TV shows. Those that like the content will continue to watch and so would be more likely to take the time to write a review on Amazon Prime. Those that dislike the show probably won’t return as often, thus limiting their time on the site.

Hmm, so researching it more, I was wrong
I wonder if they could be sued for false advertising for doing that.
I can't really see any standing to sue for that. I mean, it's literally been standard practice for years, decades more likely, for game companies to just buy good reviews. Gamers have known for years that 80 out of 100 from a gaming rag means the game's a barely playable buggy mess. This is a lot less egregious than that.

It's just going to make people trust the reviewing system even less, and it's already taken a beating.

True enough in hindsight there's the other issue which is these clowns technically defrauding investors.

Although Disney did worse in hiding how badly the sw and marvel films were doing and what damage the themes park had to them and might even have gone into rico levels insanity with movie theater owners claiming they were physically and financially threatened and no one did anything about that so.

Because that actually strikes me as an unfair insult to Abrams. Which implies all sorts of horrors about the unmigitated shit-show disaster that is "The Rings of Power".

Sure, Abrams is wholly devoid of ideas, and only capable of childishly simplified reboots and remixes. Everything he has ever made has been a crude mash-up of earlier ideas or just a blatant reboot of an existing idea... and it's always stripped of all complexity and dumbed down so it can appeal to the lowest possible denominator. And it's made with billions of dollars, so at least it looks flashy. Lens flare! Lens flare! Garish, gaudy shit with no weight behind it. The visual equivalent of over-produced pop music.

I despise the man's work, to be sure; but to my knowledge, he has never sat down to deliberately and viciously rape another person's legacy. He's just a hack of limited talent, who produces the best he can -- the result of which effort just isn't impressive to people of any substance. But he's not out to destroy, defile and utterly violate the stuff he gets his grubby little hands on.

It's greed and incompetence with him, but not active malice.

What they did here goes far beyond incompetence, and far beyond greed. Those things were involved, yes, but beyond that-- there was an evil intent at play here. They wanted to twist and mangle Tolkien's creation. Not out of foolishness, but out of active spite. It's not just that they cannot create anything good. It's that they delight in perverting good things. It's what gives them joy.

The irony that they are proving Tolkien's point in doing so goes right over their knavish little heads, but cannot escape the notice of intelligent observers.

Yes.They desacrated monument of King, and replaced his head with orcish.Like all good orcs should.
I hope, that King would return this time to made things right, too.

This Tolkien podcast made me laugh way more then it should have with such low hanging fruit it had for humor.

Like some of them were super low effort renamings... But I laughed uncontrollably all the same.

Dude who wrote this article was so frightened, that mentioned many times how racist and myzoginist Tolkien fans are.
It remind me commie times in Poland, when they must admitt that they fucked something - they still MUST also write about how badfascists/ imperialists are/all those who do not support soviets/

Here, all those who do not support Amazon are racists.
It is funny to see, that soviets take over West, when Poland is mostly free.

so they don't have source material, they don't have the right to drop any Simarillion characters beyond what was already mentioned in LOTR or the hobbit and again this is brought to you by many of the same people who gave us the last season of GOT. I hope they have some of the people who wrote LOTRO and/or the shadow of war series, otherwise even as an AU I expect it to suck.

To Quote the wise words of the great Weird Al "aw man I hate it when I'm right."
