I may not be from the West, but lots of things I enjoy are from it and Japan and one thing I notice looks to be that the West in particular is trying to change or reject beauty standards
Japan on the other hand is much more unashamedly in love with fanservice
I had some classes in college that had absolutely nothing to do with Feminism, but somehow involved them....like my Filipino class that suddenly went on about female beauty standards and what boobs are for and that big boobs are terrible and involve breast cancer
The West, I think is really trying to go for average, masculine, fat, rail-thin-androgynous physiques and looks for women, both for actors and even fictional ones
Thing is, anybody here think that these attempts are really horribly unsuccessful and possibly backfiring and getting dudes to look away?
I think Westerners have a culture of shame or a sort of accepted wide inferiority complex for women’s beauty standards even in-regards to fictional 2D or CGI women
Having the looks like those could probably only be gained through a combination of fitness, good genetics and not being old(I consider plastic surgery as too obviously fake and creepy). People can get rather self conscious when they look at others and compare themselves.
Tell me if I’m wrong or not, or how bad do you guys feel it is, cause I’m not from the West.....though even in third world countries.....communism receives support in universities
It's various factors that's created the drop in beauty standards. In my mind the most influential groups here are:
1) The Insecure Women
The Insecure are generally composed of women who are for all intents and purposes, average looking by genetics, but have something that drives their insecurity. That can range from a woman being overweight and thinking it unfair that she should be expected to lose the weight to women who are not secure simply by the shape of their body, breasts, hips, hair, and face. Below them are the women who have no standards for themselves, but still think they can get the 'hot' men. And then of course, there are those who do and then get immediately dumped or brushed off because they were nothing more than a passing fancy before McDreamy exchanges them for a hotter model. I think this group tends to merge back and forth with the Feminists, simply because they're looking out for their own genetic interests.
Because if they can force men to accept a lower standard and force other women to dress more modestly, it grants them a genetic edge.
2) Ethnic Women
Ethnic women are less of an issue, because ethnic women I think tend to be more secure in their looks from my experience, but I also get the impression that some of them are upset that white women are treated as higher class or more main stream in terms of beauty standards. Things like straight blond hair, white skin, blue eyes, and that sort of thing that was more common a decade ago before Hollywood decided they needed to press yet another beauty standard.
3) Insecure Men
There is a group of men who know they don't like the lower beauty standards, but I suspect believe two lies. The first is that if beauty standards are lowered for women, then they will be lowered for men. The second is that by accepting the lie of insecure women and some ethnic women, they can scam their way into the arms of a women they might not otherwise get. It's essentially a form of branding used by men who don't believe they're worth much, but whose ego cannot accept that. You'll find that most of these "men" fall into the category of white cucks.
4) Hollywood & Media & Elites
This is a complicated one, I think.
The media is, in my mind, horribly corrupt. Lots of insiders who work with insiders and to get in, you need to impress someone. What it is supposed to look like from the outside is that people get the job based on their merits. Men who can after all, draw in a large audience are in fact, very profitable and get the job. The same cannot be said for women. Women competition is tough. Lots of beautiful, intoxicating women are all in one place, all wanting the same jobs, and competing with each other to get those jobs. And there are lots of men who...well, who would not be their first choice (or second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, or last) when it comes to a sexual or romantic partner. And those men have a great deal of influence and power within that community.
So if you're a woman who is beautiful, talented, and honest...what do you do when you're competing against thirty other women for the same part? What do you do when the guy who makes the decision says he thinks you're perfect for the part, but says that he'd like to get to know you better first? Do you stay honest and lose for the hundredth time to another woman who will spread for it, watch as her career takes off... and you stay poor and keep getting rejections? Or do you swallow your pride and spread your legs? Or do you play the men offering the positions with half-lies and excuses until you get what you want?
Let's be honest (or cynical). A lot of those women were used like rags by a lot of the men who were in those positions. And they all know it. And everyone in their social circles know it. I can't know how frustrating it must be for all those women to stand in the same room and know that half of them were used like a living doll by some sleazy director. And how much more frustrating it must be for a woman to get in because her parents have connections. A woman who was essentially born into having gotten roles they all had to demean themselves for and has the luxury of looking down on women who demeaned themselves to get those roles.
So a lot of women in Hollywood and media I think, are very angry and very bitter for very good reasons. Because the men in their lives did use their power and privilege to get what they wanted. And I imagine more than one of them got burned afterwards. I mean, imagine having demeaned yourself for some beer-belly, tiny dick loser and then being told the next day "Yeah, you were great, but
Samantha was better. Better luck next time."
5) Business & HR
For businesses, the idea is to provide a better produce and a hold a valuable brand that can be capitalized on. So if everyone in the news and media is talking about "toxic masculinity", you are going to get a lot of businesses that want to avoid lawsuits and maintain a good brand by adhering to the values of their customers. The problem with that though, is that because of the distorted view that the media has because of their own experiences, they are not getting accurate information.
6) Professors
The left wing infestation of universities has created a large group of dipshits with no real skills who obtained positions not through intellectual works, but through political activism. Where as with intellectual works, there is an inherent value in holding said knowledge of seeking that knowledge, the same is not to be said of political activism. A political activist professor is only useful so long as there is a political movement to push those low fliers into the public light. It's essentially a branding method. So a political activist gone professor cannot release the crusade because without that crusade, they are of no value to anyone. So to hold down their salary, their titles, and the social status they will find and manufacture a crises.
Now you put those people in with young adults who are still in some way, rebelling against their parents as they attempt to form their own personal identity. What I think you get is young, impressionable people who are molded by who they take as high thinking professionals of great intellectual will and experience...but who are in reality, merely leaches who need to manufacture social movements to keep their jobs. The result is a great deal of confused, but very passionate young adults who want to fix a world to fit a narrative that does not match with reality.
Hence why I think you get so many self-hating white people from these places.
Conclusion
The base reality of genetics cannot be changed. You cannot be made to choose someone who you do not find attractive. You might settle on someone because of other factors, but you will in all likelihood, always resent it. Instead, people will simply do what is best for them. Oh sure, lots of people will mouth the words right now, but they'll choose the hottest, most well-off person they can get their hands on. And for those who bought into the impossible dream of "equality within infinite diversity", they will be left old, bitter, and alone. And never understanding that they'd simply been used.
