Here is the thing, most Serb lands have been unified for a fairly short period of time, originally IIRC under Stefan Dushan, but before and after that they were separate entities.
Because Russia produces a lot of stuff the west consumes, and a lot of stuff you do not want them exporting to more dubious actors, because 150 million people is a big market and because you do not want them being friendly with China and giving them easy access to their market and raw materials.
Basically the world's biggest country, in control of a lot of strategic resources, and the world's most populous country teaming up to fuck with the west.
You think most Russians will give a shit about the iGarbage if they can get a phone with equivalent specs for a third of the price made by Xiaomi or Huawei and sold on AliExpress for 1/3 the price?
