This is Bullshit. The Thread

This is not a political thread. This is a thread about everyday things you encounter in life. Be it at your job or out in town. The things that don't make any sense but they are put forth anyway by individuals in charge. I will start it off.

The Store policy of carding everyone for alcohol. At first it seems like a good idea. But how some stores do it is quite frankly stupid. When you have a 70 year old woman trying to buy a bottle of beer and the Cashier who is not even old enough to drink asks for ID because she has to ask everyone. You know your policy is bullshit.

Facebook has started deleting hiding posts from me, despite them being in my own timeline, and they've nuked massive numbers of my posts calling out Antifa, BLM, the progressive narrative, and the mainstream media.

The also are going to update thier terms of service effective Oct 1st, to make it even easier to straight up remove the accounts of people for nebulous 'exposes us to legal or regulatory action' issues.

They want to host BLM and Antifa pages, yet people like me get our posts nuked so hard we cannot even see our own posts.

My Chromebook had a major update recently and now it says Netflix and Amazon Prime are no longer compatible with my device. They worked fine before. I'm no tech wizard but it sounds fairly bullshittery. :p

I will add something I am beginning to see in recent back to school commercials. They will have a rail thin skinny girl and a rail thin effeminate looking Fuck Boy of a teen boy as the typical you children. I am not talking about a standard normal sized kids but kids that look like a good wind can blow them away. What is up with putting the most kids and teens that are not even close to the normal as the typical kid?

The obsession with 'combating obesity' has merged with old the 'skinny is beautiful' BS in marketing department.

Volunteer working in an Oxfam bookshop, I constantly despair at the outright stupidity and incompetence of my co-workers.

First off, isn't a good idea before you organise shelves, to learn the FUCKING ALPHABET?

Also, fiction is in a number of broad categories. General fiction with everything from Danielle Steel to Tom Clancy to Bernard Cornwell to John Le Carre.

Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror. For stuff like Tolkien, Gemmell, Stephen King, Heinlein etc.

And lastly Crime. James Patterson, Peter May, Val McDermid etc.

Then we have non fiction.

The number of times I've seen shit like Tom Clancy shoved in crime for example, or Bernard Cornwell in fantasy is fracking unbelievable. Not to mention the (mis)management at the general store are not even borderline incompetent, they are downright incompetent.

Tom Clancy is honestly pretty non fiction going by what we see these days. The dude honestly saw the future.

How stupid simple rules in the Army are. No drinking or eating while walking, while in uniform. What is the risk? Choking while walking?

Interestingly going through number of second hand bookstores in UK years ago, I found no books by Cornwell or Fraser, by Martin as well. I guess those went really fast.

I have a good response to carding. Regardless of the sex of the till jockey I just reply with a saucy smile and a wink, "I'm perfectly legal, I can assure you."

Thread tax:

People who cannot follow painfully simple instructions or can't fathom you knowing something well enough that the instructions you're providing them don't require you to be present to know they will be accurate or correct 99% of the time.

I've added you to the AD groups for <certain software>. Please allow the system several hours for it to be available to download from the Company App Installer (To get to the Company App Installer, click Start, type in company a, strike enter).
I will follow up with you tomorrow to confirm you can download and use <certain software>.
...One day later...
Hello, I am following up to confirm if <certain software> installed for you without any issues.
I followed your instructions to find the software center but I got stuck.
Oh? At which point?
I've put in software a into the Start but I'm not sure if I should press enter.
Are there other options?
No, just Company App Installer.
...A brief pause later...
You can click on the software center to launch it too?
How do you know it's the right Company App Installer?
...A brief pause later...
It's the only option there right?
Yes, but how did you know it would be the right option?
...A brief pause later...
It's company specific, it wouldn't be on a different company's computer.
Oh, okay. It's opened and the software is installing.

While not verbatim, this is something I get frequently. The most common is when I tell someone to type in Bitlocker. There's usually three or four options but I've always seen the Manage Bitlocker be the first search return and even when I say, "If Manage Bitlocker is the highlighted option, strike enter," I always, absolutely always get them reciting all of the options with 'Manage Bitlocker' being the first one. Yes, I know it's the first one and it's highlighted, that's why I already said strike enter.

Everything since XP has been, in my view.

I have to strongly disagree. Win7 was absolutely fantastic. It ran stable (I ran it for almost two years straight without rebooting once), driver crashes were near non-existent. I remember changing Crysis from windowed mode with low graphical settings to full screen with mid to high settings, my computer hanging, the nVidia driver crashing, Windows then telling me it had successfully reloaded the drivers and everything worked fine after.

Again with the book categorisations. I realise some aren't obvious to those who don't know the genres. For instance a lot of the teen fiction vampire and werewolf books get miscategorised under sci-fi/fantasy/horror (we have a seperate category for childrens books ranging from early to teen fiction which covers stuff like Harry Potter, Maze Runner etc.

Depending on the cover art style, I can't blame some for shoving some of the teen fiction in sci-fi/fantasy.

However, to put one of the Pern books (I can't remember if it was an Anne McAffrey one, or one written after she passed) in hardback, with a large dragon on the cover in CRIME....the levels of stupidity really baffle me.

One book got shoved in the back along with the general storage, I, on a hunch checked it up, it was a book about Architecture and design. Art books, including architecture can be pretty rare. This one which had been shoved to the side was worth £75.

I remember when I first started there, an old book which wasn't in great condition nearly got thrown out. I said not to. It dated from the 18th century and ended up being sold to someone in Australia.

What makes it worse is that we have two managers, covering the book shop and the general shop and they have no real interest. It got so bad I sent an email higher up the food chain to the area manager about the need for proper training but I was ignored.

You know, I still fucking regret updating my MacBook OS X to Catalina

Now I can't play a number of my Steam games and there's no option to revert things

Could have warned that would happen at the very least

Unless people forget about him existing, stupid tactic but they look to rely a LOT on people simply being too willingly uninterested in shit that makes em look bad

Actually now that I think about it, this is the first time in months since I heard of Hunter Biden’s name
