Methinks somebody just read about the Great Emu War...
More seriously the biggest threat Emus pose is to crops, it's not like they're particularly dangerous. The loss in the great Emu War was that the Emus ran away, not that any humans were injured. Emu meat becomes commonplace for meals and then relegated to poverty food because there's so much of it.
