Star Trek Wrath of Khan Thoughts and Opinions

So for those who have seen it a couple of thoughts about The Wrath of Khan, I've put it in here as y'know * spoilers * for those who have never seen it.


1. When the Enterprise was hit by the Reliant, why did they not send distress calls to other ships nearby or is the comms were down dispatch a shuttle at maximum warp to send the message out.

2. When the Genesis Torpedo was activated why didn't they just beam it up into the transporter and hold it there to prevent it from detonating or vaporise it with weapons fire to just wipe out the torpedo and its contents?

3. Kirk apparently knew of the Genesis project or at least had access to the information, if so then he would have had to have contacted wherever the proposal data was to watch it (otherwise it would inexplicably have been on the main computer of a training ship) and so should have informed Starfleet Command then and there about this (otherwise dereliction of duty is the least of his problems here}.

4. Why the hell did Scotty take his nephew's body to the bridge and not directly to Sick Bay?

1. Reliant had been jamming Regula Station's communications to prevent them from getting a message out. It's possible they did the same to Enterprise.

2. At the suggestion of beaming aboard to stop the device, David, the guy who invented the thing, said "You can't". He doesn't bother explaining, but presumably destroying the device while it's building up would still have resulted in a detonation capable of destroying Enterprise. And I'm not sure trying to hold a device with enough energy to create a planet in the transporter pattern buffers would be very healthy for Enterprise, either.

3. It seemed like they were accessing information in Enterprise's own computer database, not accessing it remotely. Not sure why classified information would be preloaded onto a starship, I can't tell you, that's just how the scene reads to me.
