We have sanity, unlike the americans. We're also mostly functioning (we go through prime ministers like a threshing machine but the government itself usually keeps on chugging).

So all in all we're doing alright. Even the Liberal party isn't completely useless, conservative a-holes though they may be.

I fucking hate that this has become a thing. Not even Bernie Sanders is an actual socialist, let alone AOC. Even corporations are veering into the Far Left, so its not as simple as all industries are “not privately owned” especially when those same “private entities” start going off spouting propoganda and maybe even attacking their customer-base to espouse stuff that the Left is sickly in love with and obsessing over like forced diversity and rejecting beauty standards for women

Ayn Rand was a shit-tier philosopher who didn't even understand the intellectual underpinnings of the regime that she escaped from, let alone be able to accurately represent and criticize them. The whole point of communism is that the proletariet will overthrow the bourgeoise out of self-interest, not because of anything like empathy for their fellow man. And how is giving equal legal rights to everyone supposed to wreck the economy? What, is giving everyone a chance to be employed and compete in the marketplace going to destroy capitalism by expanding the labor pool? How the hell is that supposed to work?

Socialists have both condemned diversity and forced integration in some countries, and then adopted strategies like Lenin's "Nationalities" policy, which was quite popular among most of the International socialist movement, depending on circumstances. The modern SJW left is an indeed a deviation from normative socialism, and I think that the Old Bolsheviks would hold them in the same level of contempt that I do. I certainly share more in common with an Old Bolshevik than an SJW bongo.

Not American so I can't vote but it'll be interesting to see the whole shebang from far away.

Looks to be so from what I read and the Democrats in that discussion all raised their hands for free health care for non us citizens wasn't it? Unsure about open borders but I recall it being discussed which would make a tax payer reconsider their voting choice as they're the ones who will pay for that.

The curious thing about talk like that I sometimes wonder is when people who talk like that inevitably grow old and end up in a nursing home or a form of it with a caretaker. Will they maintain the same vigor and moan about the alt right? Though with those stress levels I suspect aging and greying hairs will happen faster.

For me I hope to indulge myself with internet browsing and playing games.

Yes and due to the nature of that book it's not quite credible.

It would fit more to books with authors who have more experience with politics or the social thinking such as old classics like George Orwell who comes to mind usually.

Though in regards to books I feel someone who lived this period should write about this one day and explore TDS as there's plenty of material to draw from.

It would be said to not be “relevant” like Les Miserables and X-Men and more into telling what those on “The Right” exactly “what they want” like Atlas Shrugged

I’d suggest Aristillus by Travis J Corcoran. But replace Trump with the moon city of Aristillus, with an even bigger difference in that the latter aren’t even doing ANYTHING remotely a threat to Earth’s economy outside of suddenly being invaded so that they could be used to pay for California’s earthquake damages(and they don’t even WANT a “Reunification” or anything to do with Earth or the UN)

Explain how we aren't functioning then. I say we have a functioning government with parties who, hate each other though they may, generally cooperate with each other and don't veer that far off the cliffs of crazy (huzzah for mandatory voting).

Am I wrong to state that, and if so, how?
