Who else dreads this year?

That really doesn't matter if your economic survival is at stake now.

Alberta is a boom bust town that comes crying to the rest of canada every bust. Economic survival would be diversifying away from the oil sands but they're never going to do it if they don't get a kick in the ass

Realm when you take food off of some ones plate and kick them in the ass don't expect them to want to stick around.

They kicked themselves in the ass when they forgot that oil prices change and maybe they shouldn't become a second rate Petrostate.

For all of your talk about compassion your biggest weakness is your lack of empathy AKA the ability to see things from other peoples point of view.

This is an issue where canada can thread the needle but if they dont think or care about albertas needs then Alberta leaves and canada as we know it goes poof.

California has approximately the same gdp to America as a whole as Alberta does to canada as a whole, in a country why a fourth less states/provinces. I don't want to see it succeed but it's not nearly as critical as you seem to believe.

Ironic you'd ask for empathy towards alberta, given this sites absolute antipathy towards California. Should I critique that rhetoric as well, lest it leave the union and America "as we know it go poof"?

Personally speaking here, I think the constituents of the union could benefit from an amicable divorce with California and New York.

California gets its way quite a bit in American politics.

Nancy is the current speaker of the house and is Californian, my states intrests get represented and thought about quite a bit the reason why you see so much bitching on this site is because we have abused that power in the past (expecially when it comes to water rights).

When it comes to our industries Hollywood and Silicon vally the federal government has gone to bat for us numerous times. Fighting china on IP theift and keeping other countries from purposely screwing us over. The situation isnt the same at all.

Trudeau literally bought out the trans mountain pipeline, effectively a state bailout, in order to ensure completion. I'm not sure how legally attacking BC opposition and financially supporting Albertan interests counts as not going to bat, but I suppose he did leave out the foot massage when working to ensure Alberta can continue relying on the oil sands (until the next drop in price)

2020 is pretty much worth all of the marbles its more important then 2016 was it was always going to be more important then 2016 was. There was no possible way for this year to not suck.

We won't be getting new Elden Ring trailers, or info, that's one thing that will suck

Jokes aside, don't be too optimistic, especially since you live in California

Why drop out at this point? Sure, I can understand cutting staff due to costs, but if your already on the ballot, why not just rent a van and keep campaining? Spread your ideas, see a lot of carnivals and talk to a lot of people.

Seems a better option to either get your ideas out there or build a base of support for the future. Does he really have something better to do than a couple months roadtrip?

Also at this point Bernie pretty much stole all the attention as far as progressive ideas go. Not only does he not stand a chance he's basically been forgotten about because of everyone else so his ideas can't get far (hello bloomberg and your several million dollar ad campaigns) so may as well save your supporters' money and give up.

I get the feeling that even if that somehow stood up to constitutional muster they wouldn't do it if Trump won the popular vote...

The popular vote? If so, that means they just need a bigger majority or to brainwash as many kids as possible

Ah the popular vote, that thing we didn't even have last election because only a little more than 50% of the voters turned out?

I might take talk of the popular vote seriously if they applied rules that it had to be a majority of America, and not just "One more vote than the other person".

Maybe 3/4 majority of the voters in the US?
