Who else dreads this year?

Not exactly. The problem is that the economically poorer regions -particularly on the west coast- have been causing problems for the economically rich regions thanks to literally busing their homeless people to them. Seatle has a major homeless problem because towns and cities that aren't economically powerful have been literally giving their homeless bus tickets to Seattle.

Yeah, it is actually a thing that has been happening... just good luck in getting the less economically powerful cities and towns to actually say that they've been doing it.

That is so wrong that I need aspirin to stem the migraine of the sheer stupidity.

The GOP is not going to admit that they've set up a propaganda machine that Herr Gobbels would be willing to outright murder to get. That is the explicit purpose of FOX 'News' and friends since their inception (FOX 'News' was designed to ensure that another Watergate wouldn't be possible, and guess fucking what, it's working).

The GOP moved this country so far right that they made the 'right-wing' literally hang off the cliff and still try to keep moving right despite the fact that they'll get killed in doing so by literally falling off that cliff.

Anyone who hasn't notice it is outright delusional at this point. Plugging their ears and yelling at the top of their lungs delusional. Thinking that a flaming house is fine delusional. I have noticed it and I've noticed it since 2002, i.e. since I was in the third grade (Sep. 2001-June 2002 is the time period).

Im going to disagree about californias problems all being caused by outside forces.

Thought states like New York are not helping, our biggest problem is that politics have been nationalized which means people who should be focusing on state and local issues are letting those issues slide so they can grandstand about things they don't have the power or authority to change.

So, I found the source with pew. A lot of that chart seems to be based on self identification, which is immensely suspect. However, there is a breakdown into where people have moved on the issues:

PP-2014-06-12-polarization-1-07.png

So, a lot of this seems to be the republican base mostly staying in the same place: most of the extreme swings on issues seems to be the Democrat side: for example, the first part is the anti regulation side, Republicans shifted up 4 points, while the democrats shifted down by 17 points.

For the homosexuality question, both became more "liberal" on the question, but while the Republicans became 15 points more liberal, the democrats became 20 points more liberal. Which moved the difference on the gay question from 16 points to 21, making the left and right actually more divergent on their support for homosexuality, despite both of them becoming much more pro homosexuality.

The other thing republicans seem to have become "radical" on is environmental laws, which basically seems to effectively amount to "about 50% of republicans thought we got about the right amount of environmental protection in 2010" and more than that is excessive.

However, said shift has been both sides moving away from the center, not just one
Nope, it was mostly the left. Your images arranged like that don't show how much each side moved from before, only that they moved from each other

As we can clearly see, the right is staying mostly where they were, mayhaps slightly going further to the right than before.

Meanwhile the left is going absolutely bonkers.

Huh. I'd eyeballed the gap and it looked the right had shifted less than the left, but I didn't know it was buy that much.

Also in this picture: the extinction of Blue Dogs and Liberal Republicans.
There are a few of each left, for blue dogs, look at the congressman from West Virginia who has often sided with the gop, and in general there have been a number of republicans who have voted with the dems on most matters, so there are some, it is just not as many now as it was when one party was a hegemon.

Well yeah, if my president was to come all the way down to where I work to provide me with grub, I'd be pretty chuffed.

Is this where a dumb kid if they know Jussie Smollet would ironically say to the kid with the maga hat that this is anti maga country?

It starts with small incidents like this; you'll know when things have gotten completely out of control when someone decides to respond, in the Chicago way, with retaliation.

Telling the US military to forcibly confiscate guns of their fellow citizens isn't a good idea.

It will be up to the military, do they LIKE this sort of bullshit?

If not, I think the Dems will go from criticizing the “Military-Industrial Complex” to creating a “Armed Security Force-Industrial Complex” for the various government departments like the Department of Education and have them put down any rebellions they find if or especially when the police are too loyal to the people they live with to do it

Heh, "ASFIC". Sounds like "Arschfick" to me, so a fitting designation for any demorat-backed millitary force.

Yeah, like the military would do anything more than parade though the middle of town, wave at citizens, and then say:

"Whelp, we couldn't find any guns, I guess they got rid of them all."

Do they really think that soldiers just magically turn into the gun nut veterans they are making the laws against after they leave service?
