I got this idea after reading the Stargate SG-1 novel Roswell. In it, Vala and Cam are stranded in 1908, and after accidentally changing history, they use their knowledge of the future to get rich and excavate the Stargate early, so they can find a way to go back in time and fix history.
This made me think, what if a person with full knowlege of the Stargate franchise were sent back in time to 1908 in the Stargate universe? What could/would you do to change history? This is the plan I came up with.
First, I would do like Cam and Vala, and use my knowledge of the future to get rich, so I can fund an expedition to excavate the Stargate, and set it up in my own private facility. I would make sure to recover both the gate and the DHD, so power won't be an issue. Building an iris is a no-go in the 1920s, so I would probably use a system like the Nazis used in the fanfiction "Stellar Reich," and just have a big hunk of stone on a crane I can swing back and forth to plug the gate when not in use.
Once I have the gate going. . .
1. I would go to Pangar and recover Egeria's stasis jar before the Pangarans can find it. There is virtually no chance that the Tok'ra are already on P34-353J, considering how often they move their base. Instead, I would gate to Tollan, since we know the Tollans are old friends of the Tok'ra. I would contact the Tok'ra through them, and restore Egeria to the Tok'ra, allowing them to expand their numbers again. While I'm in their good graces, I would pass on some more useful information, including; the location of Baal's anti-gravity device (from A Matter of Honor), the addresses for all the planets in Ra's test (from Barque of Heaven), the location of Marduk and the Eye of Tiamat (The Tomb), the secret hiding place of the Eye of Ra (Full Circle), the hiding place of the Ancient Weapon on Dakara (The Reckoning), the location of the Ash Eater in Egypt (Oceans of Dust), the fact that the Tok'ra Odysseus is stranded on the planet Kar'tek, helping the locals battle Mars (Fall of Rome), the fact that Lord Yu is secretly a closet Tok'ra, who has been sharing his body with his host for over four thousand years (Four Dragons) and the fact that Anubis is still alive, and may turn up on Kheb at some point in the next few decades. All I would ask in turn, for now, is a reliable way to communicate with them, and a spacesuit (or the equivalent)
2. Go to Kheb and warn Oma Desala not to help Anubis ascend. If necessary, I would let her read my mind to see how things would have turned out originally.
3. Go to P3S-517 and carefully recover the android Reese (I would NOT re-activate her. In fact, I would put her power source in separate, sealed container). Then go to Cimmeria, and pass the test in the Hall of Thor's might so I can contact the Asgard. I would give them Reese, and also tell them about the Ancient repository on P3X-439, which contains the complete designs for an anti-Replicator weapon. If they can't simply download the information from the Repository, I'm sure they can find a human with the Ancient gene on one of the Protected Planets to access it for them. Finally, I would tell them about the Asgard Ran, who Ascended, and who can be contacted from the Shrine of Ran on Earth. If they can persuade her to take physical form again, her genetic information will provide the secret to saving their species from extinction. As a bonus, I might also mention the secret experiments Odin is conducting on Valhalla. He's playing with fire (literally) and somebody really should shut him down before Surtr escapes his control and takes over his ship
4. Go to P7X-377 and inform Quetzalcoatl that the Goa'uld have penetrated the network of protected planets set up by the Omeyocan
5. Use the spacesuit from the Tok'ra to retrieve the A't'trr orb from P5C-353, and toss it through the Stargate to P4G-881. I expect nothing back from the A't'trr for saving their civilization. This is just an act of kindness, because I can.
6. Go to P7J-989, and free the Volsinii from their virtual reality pods. It should be easy. All I have to do is enter the VR world, tell them the truth about their world's recovery, and then leave. The Sanctuary was never meant to be a prison. Anybody can leave if they know what the doors look like (which I do)
7. Recover the Quantum Mirror from P3R-233, and seal it in a block of solid concrete until I can arrange to safely destroy it.
8. Recover Janus' time machine and hide it in a more secure place (maybe on a lifeless planet)
9. After this, I would spend a little time on Earth, while the galactic balls start rolling into place. There are threats to deal with there as well. I am not nearly tough enough or brave enough to deal with anything dangerous, but some things I can do. I would dedicate my money and resources to tracking down the stasis jars of Sekhmet, Osiris and Isis, and also carefully recover the Sarcophagus of Hathor, making sure to seal it tightly before it can release her. All four of these Goa'uld I would turn over to the Tok'ra for interrogation, execution, and (in the case of Hathor) extraction from the host.
10. Finally, I would go to the planet of the Grail quest and navigate the trials of Morgan le Fey to recover Merlin. Once Merlin rebuilds the Sangraal (he may still die of old age and need to put his mind in my body, it would be for the best anyway) I would contact the Asgard and call in a favor (they owe me plenty). I need the Asgard to fly me to the Celestis Galaxy. I know it's not too far, since the Ori were able to fly from Celestis to the Ida Galaxy without using a supergate. With Merlin's help, we'll synchronize the timer on the Sangraal to activate the instant we enter the Celestis Galaxy, and wipe out the Ori in a surprise attack.
