Marvel What if, Dr. Doom sent his mind back to the body of his past self?

I real a lot of Dr. Doom comics since he is my favorite character. I speculated on a idea for a Dr. Doom SI, where Doom uses and alien device (which will allow him to actually change history) to open a portal to Latveria in the year he first seized power, 7 years before he first fought the Fantastic Four. He then uses the Ovoid mind-switching technique to switch bodies with his past self, and destroy the device so that the future he left will cease to exist.

My big idea was to look at what Doom would do to change history. Who does he think would make a good ally/henchman/scientist-servant, and who are the major threats he must eliminate early/ people he hates so much he must get revenge on them for the acts they would have committed.

This is the timeline I made. I would love to hear any comments people have. It would be a delight to explain the reasoning behind my choices

1955

In the first week of his arrival, while still using advanced science and magic to rebuild Latveria and modernize it to his specifications, Doom will cast the Montesi Formula. This will attract the attention of the Ancient One and Nina the Conjurer. On the one hand, they will be pleased to see the vampires destroyed. On the other hand, they will be very concerned about the level of black magic Doom is engaged in. With the right deceptions, Doom can trick them into thinking he repents of his use of black magic, and that is why he has destroyed the True Darkhold (half true, he will send a Doombot to dig it up and destroy it while he is preparing for the Montesi Formula) and the one in the Russell family's storage unit in Los Angeles. He also tips off the Ancient One about the activities of Selene in Nova Roma. Selene kills the Ancient One, but she is severely weakened, and then Doom finishes her off and claims the title of Sorcerer Supreme. He then takes Dr. Strange as his apprentice, and complete his training, making him one of Doom's lackeys

The sudden disintegration of Baron Blood (currently a member of ICON), is the first warning sign to the United States government that something major is happening.

Doom executes Rudolfo and Zorba, instead of allowing them to escape.

Within weeks of his arrival, Doom will encounter Kang the Conqueror, investigating the change in history. They will ally together to destroy Immortus, when he tries to fix the change Doom has made to history, and then destroy the Time Variance Authority together.

Within one month of his arrival, Doom will send a mixture of mercenaries and android assassins to kill Susan and Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, Frank Castle, Mary Walker, Scott Lang, Tae-Won, Eddie Brock, and Emma Frost. Miniature drones will be sent to use radiation to sterilize the parents of Moon Girl, Cloak, and Squirrel Girl. He sends a Doombot equipped with temporal manipulation technology from Kang to Missouri to hunt down and kill Mystique and Destiny, while also executing the Latverian mutant known as the Seer, so that none may know his future plans.

He sends another Doombot to Berlin to recover the Red Skull, and terminate him. Two more Doombots will be dispatched to the Arctic and to Norway. The one in the arctic will carefully recover Captain America from the ice, and bring him (still frozen) back to Latveria where he will be kept frozen until Doom determines how to ally with him. The one in Norway will recover the Hammer of Thor, currently in the form of a walking stick. The stick will also be secured in a vault under Castle Doom. A final Doombot will be sent to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and will carefully destroy the Amulet of Kulan Gath

Meanwhile, Doom himself will go to Central City, California, and attack Richards Labs, killing Reed Richards in a short, but intense battle. Doom harvests DNA from the bodies of Sue Storm and Reed Richards in-order to grow Valeria in a cloning vat.

At the proper time, Doom travels to Cairo, and waits under cloak and psychic shields while Charles Xavier battle the Shadow King. At the right moment, Doom deploys a psychic weapon that kills them both, and makes it look like they died in battle. He then rescued the orphaned Ororo, and brings her to Latveria as his ward.

At the proper time, Doom attacks the gypsy coven of Wundagor and rescues Wanda Maximoff. He kills all three witches, and captures the Serpent Crown and the Book of Cagliostro. He also kills Damballah, and forces Taboo to give him Topaz in exchange for his life. The book goes into his occult library, along with the Necronomicon and other mystic texts he has tracked down early. The Serpent Crown goes into his secure vaults. Wanda and Pietro and their troop of gypsies are invited to settle in Latveria, where Doom monitors Wanda and oversees her training in the mystic arts.

In October, Doom trades Topaz to Mephisto for his mother's soul. Mephisto accepts.

During this year, Doom dispatches probes into space to track down the Infinity Stones.

1956

Doom contacts T'Challa, currently in college under the alias of Luke Charles, and invites him to attend graduate school at the Latverian School of Science. He works hard to cultivate a positive image with T'Challa, and form an alliance with him.

After taking some time to prepare, Doom launches a full scale assault on the Valley of the Star Dragon. In a massive battle, he kills the Mandarin, and seizes his technology. His rings are carefully secured in a vault under Castle Doom.

After properly preparing for months, Doom launches a full-scale assault on Stark Industries Manhattan Plant, killing 20-year old Tony Stark who has just taken over the family business. The battle is neither quick nor easy, with Stark deploying both his weapons and his father's, but Doom's superior tech gives him victory.

Since Arno Stark is still in a coma, Morgan Stark inherits the company. With neither the knowledge nor the desire to be a businessman, he liquidates everything. Cord Industries ends up taking over.

Shortly after this, Doom hunts down and kills Nick Fury, with great difficulty

Doom arranges to meet Magneto in Israel, and allies with him to destroy Hydra and A.I.M., except for a few scientists Doom recruits. Doom then tips off Magneto to Bolivar Trask's Sentinel program, and they destroy it together and kill Trask. This establishes and alliance between Doom and Magneto, and Doom tips off Magneto to the location of about two dozen mutants, and children who will become mutants, already in the world. Doom is declared an international threat by the United States.

1958

Doom is still consolidating and building his resources. His probes bear fruit, and he recovers the Mind, Space, Reality, and Time gems. All four are put into a storage vault under his castle. Careful probes indicate that the Stranger does not have the Power Stone yet, though Doom plants spy devices in his collection world to monitor him.

As soon as Cornelius dies, other robots break in and steal his formula before Robert Reynolds can lay his hands on it. Doom places the sentry serum in his storage vaults.

Doom is also notified when Professor Harry Brandeis recovers the Amulet of Zarathos. His robots steal the amulet, and bring it carefully back to Latveria. Then, it's just a matter of waiting until the Weapon X project fuses Adamantium into Logan's skeleton. Once they do, Doom strikes with an overwhelming assault force, and captures Logan. Doom then brings the feral mutant to Latveria, and uses his body and the amulet in a mystic ritual that will destroy Nightmare.

Doom then annexes Transia and surrounds the High Evolutionar's citadel on Wundagor Mountain. He offers Wyndham the chance to join him, tempting him with sources of valuable genetic knowledge. The High Evolutionary accepts.

Doom then brings the suspended animation capsule of Jessica Drew to Latveria. When she is fully recovered, he revives the amnestic girl, and offers her body as a host to the spirit of Morgan le Fey. Morgan then enters into an alliance with Doom.

With the help of Doom, Morgan uses the cornerstone of Castle Le Fey in London Bridge to transform London into her Dark Camelot and bring Castle Le Fey beck from the Netherworld. They are opposed by Captain Midlands, Spitfire, Destroyer II and the V-Battalion, Captain Kerosene, Albion, Templar and Squire, the original Captain Britain, Major Mapleleaf, and the Black Knight (Sir Percy of Scandia possessing the body of Nathan Garret). Doom aided Morgan in defeating all her enemies, and conquering Britain.

Well, it's funny you should mention that.

I assume that, in the background, Doom and the Black Panther would be steadily expanding their kingdoms by overthrowing dictatorships in Europe and Africa. I considered have Doom conquer the Soviet Union, but I wasn't sure exactly where to place it in the chronology.

It is too late for that in 1965,soviets arkeady have many H bombs and missiles.Doom must wait for soviet falling thanks to economy, unless he could use magic to deal with nukes.

P.S after soviet fall,Doom domination over Poland would be bad - but less bad that german domination in OTL.

Nuclear bombs are nothing compared to the weapons Doom can field.

Plus, as far as defensive weapons go, in Avengers #25 Doom reveals that he designed a giant force-field to protect all of Latveria from nuclear attack, and in Cloak and Dagger vol. 2 #9-10 he invented a device which would render all nuclear material inert.

Further information: these are the superheroes which would still exist as of 1965, despite Doom's changes to history. Many of these may be recruited by the US government into a team to fight supervillains, and Doom

Silver Age
Ant-Man
Wasp
Iron Man (Ho Yinsen)
Daredevil
X-Men (Cable, Moira X, Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Polaris, Havok)
Dr. Druid
Stingray
Captain Marvel

Golden Age
The Angel is active as the Scourge of the Underworld
Volton and Flexo are shut down and in government storage. They could easily be reactivated
Similarly, the 1950s Captain America and Bucky are still being held in suspended animation by the government. Yes, they are not exactly the picture of sanity, but the government may revive them anyway. Beggars can't be choosers
Thin Man and the original Destroyer are both working for the CIA
There is likely some version of the French hero Guillotine active
Dr. Nemesis, the Prince of Orphans, the Smoking Skull, and Ghost Dancer are all still active
Super Sabre, Stonewall, and the Crimson Commando are all active in secret, waiting for the government to call them back to duty
Even if Doom succeeds in getting the rest of the First Line killed in his attack on the Skrull Empire, it's likely Yankee Clipper will still survive
The G-Men (Gorilla-Man, Venus, Human Robot, Golden Girl, and Blonde Phantom) are active with the Atlas Foundation
the Cloaked Clairvoyant is either active, or only recently retired
Colonel America, Captain Terror, Slow-Motion Jones, Captain Daring, Black Marvel, Young Avenger, Whizzer, Patriot, Miss Fury, Fin, Toro, Vision, Merzah the Mystic, Monako the Prince of Magic, Comet, and Blue Diamond are all retired, but only due to age or a disinclination to fight. They could return
Marvex the Super-Robot is sort-of retired. He went into the woods and shut himself down to contemplate life in 1949. It might be possible to get his attention

I mentioned Doom would tip off Magneto to the locations of all active mutants he knows of, as a sign of their new partnership. These are the mutants I think Magneto would recruit for the original Brotherhood of Mutants ITTL. I eliminated the people with strong ambitions or ideals that clash with Magneto's, those for whom we have little information on their early years, and those under the age of 12 (since Magneto wants soldiers, not students)

Astrid Bloom (telepathy)
Avalanche (generate vibrations through inanimate matter)
Ben Goldendawn (superstrength and durability)
Black Tom Cassidy (generate heat rays through wood)
Blob (become immovable, and nearly indestructible)
Bomb (explode at will and generate explosive energy blasts)
Ethan Warren (living skeleton surrounded by flame)
Exodus (telekinesis, telepathy, and enhanced durability, fueled by confidence)
Forrest Goldendawn (superstrength and durability, looks like a yeti)
Genus (alter the genetics of others)
Gibbon (ape-like powers)
Human Top (superspeed, particularly when spinning)
John Wraith (teleporation)
Jonas Graymalkin (enhanced physical abilities while in darkness)
Locomotive Breath (super-human inventive ability)
Mandrill (ape-like power, and the ability to generate pheromones that make him irresistible to women)
Mastermind (create illusions)
Maverick (absorb kinetic energy)
Meteor (made of living, molten rock)
Nekra (enhanced physical abilities, fueled by the fear of others)
Ogun (posses the bodies of others)
Pyro (pyrokinesis)
Sage (computer-like mind)
Spider-Queen (spider-like powers)
Toad (toad-like powers)
Unus the Untouchable (generate a forcefield around himself)
Vanisher (teleporation)
Vincent Farnsworth (become intangible)

EDIT: I have added there mutant powers, for those who may not be familiar

I'm considering having Doom conquer the Soviet Union in 1958, since it is the year where he has the least planned

What do people think of the idea?

Good idea, especially that soviet army then sucked - they still partially used WW2 stuff, new one was not much better, and their nukes need missiles which need at least one day to prepare.

Doom here would be considered as liberator by everybody except important party members and kgb.
If he manage to capture soviet list of americans traitors,he would keep USA by throat.

Especially Wall Street - dudes cooperated with genociders from at least 1920.

In Poland, and other occupied states, people would welcome him even better. We still had legal goverment in London - they could just come back here.
Or...according to old lawa,Catholic Primarch of Poland have power of King when old King died, and new was not elected yet.

P.S If he capture list of soviet agents in Vatican, and gave to pope,or even better, made public, we could avoid progressives taking over Catcholic Church.
Yes,part of them were masons and sodomites, but others were commies.
