Music What are Some Bands you used to Listened to when you were younger that make you cringe now?

What are some bands that you used to really enjoy that you listen back on now and go "Ugh, did I have no taste or shame back then?"

I actually came up with this idea after listening ti Blink-182 again. I remember liking them when I was in middle school, but listening to them recently it's like. "These guys are every generic Disney Channel music band ever. " the fact that these guys are labeled as "Punk" in any sub-genre shows the sad state of it. At least Paramore had a bit of a bite in it's early music.

Note: Video's are not necessary, but bonus points if you can provide one.

Roger Waters. Just Roger Waters.
I used to think he was pretty deep and had something worthwhile to say, so I listened to his albums a lot. The Wall, Animals, even his solo projects like Amused to Death and The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. I listened to them dozens of times and parroted them when I could. Nowadays, I realize that he was just a unique combination of shallow celebrity politics mixed with doomerism.

Now, the only Pink Floyd albums I can listen to cover-to-cover are the ones from before he took over the band and after he left.

I still like his music; though that's probably because I rarely pay attention to the lyrics in the stuff I listen to. The vocals are just another instrument to me.

So do I; I wouldn't be able to hear Greenday otherwise. Or Nirvana's In Bloom. No, Kurt, I understand what your songs are about, I just don't give a fuck about your message.

I used to enjoy Evanescence and similar bands. Then I made the mistake of searching for some of the music videos and whew lad, that's soured my enjoyment of the song. I know that probably comes across as super shallow but I can't help it.

For example, the following, this is great.

Then you have the actual music video for it.

The only exception was Metallica's One. One of their absolute best works.

Can agree on Blink-182. I was never huge into them, but I remember liking them much more than they deserved. Ditto with Sum 41...And I do recall getting them both confused with each other.

Evanescence and similar bands
Oh dear...You've reminded me...
I never had a 'goth phase', but I teetered on the edge of it pretty much solely because of pseudo-edgy stuff like Evanescence, Godsmack, rap-era Papa Roach, and the early years of In This Moment.
I listened the heck out of these at the time. Nowadays...Oof. I'm still partial to Papa Roach's later stuff--even if it's actually kind of more edgy in some cases, but this...hasn't aged well.

I could/should probably add to this a whole shitload of very generic pop music that I ADORED perhaps most prominently and notably Britney Spears, but Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Shakira all deserving honorable mention for being that same general brand of pop-y, hook-heavy music...But I still adore the garbage, so it doesn't make me cringe at all even as I kind of know it should.

I enjoy most of Godsmacks newer stuff, and I full enjoy all those bands, though my taste in metal has grown to heavier stuff. I am a metal head yes.
