When I was quite young I got a DVD set of the Great Courses on linguistics, taught by Professor McWhorter, they were quite enjoyable. To be quite honest, I would re-watch them, but modern computers don't include disc readers.

For reference, he's a black academic.

As of 2020-2021 he has become an outspoken critic of CRT, Progressivism, Wokism, Anti-Racism, etc. To be frank, he is a classical-liberal and not a conservative, he once bemoaned the abuse of the term "woke" because he appreciated the existence of a term for someone being "liberally enlightened". He also publicly views the George Floyd incident as murder, despite his other views being unacceptable enough that taking a different stance would not change much for him.

At the same time, he commonly critiques anything where the burden of responsibility it taken away from the perpetrators. So any case of black violence, that's the fault of the black kids involved, any case of a social group being incompetence is the fault of that group and their cultural practices.
