So stumbled across this yesterday. It's both amazing, and terrifying, that these projects have been carried out. Particularly given it sounds like nuclear reactors have made them feasible weapons and some may have already been deployed against the US West Coast.

So they really did want to build Mole Tanks...

They reserched it, but eventually it proved unfeasable, not coming even to prototype, because there simply wasn't technology for it. The rumors about it are just rumors, there is a reason why there is no pictures, videos, physical remains or known witnesses, when we have witnesses of top secret programs like bioweapon.

Did you watch the video? It included pictures. And the project was abandoned after the prototype blew up underground. The practical problem being a lack of means to dump heat from the nuclear reactor.

That looked like heavily retouched picture of a part scale mock-up. And we only have rumors of prototype blowing up. We do not have the names of the dead crew (like we have in other Soviet secret disasters), we do not have the name of projecte leader (like we have in other formerly secret Soviet projects). It's just another of many Cold War rumors, like the dozens of dead cosmonauts, supposedly drifting in Earth orbit.

Ah yes, the Missing Cosmonauts conspiracy theory.
