Apparently the GOP-controlled LA State Legislature is itching to impeach JBE over this, which would make LA Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser (R) the new Governor if impeachment & removal from office occurs.

We're going to find out soon enough if JBE can manage to survive this explosive scandal.

Safe to say regardless: fair or not, this almost certainly ensures his political career is over & it'll be harder for LA Dems to keep the Governor's Mansion in 2023 unless they can aggressively recruit former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu (D), who has won statewide office as LA Lieutenant Governor in 2003 & 2007, to seek the Governorship.
