So a few decades before the start of the 13the Black Crusade a rift/wormhole is found in the outskirts of Sol system.
This gate/anomaly is large enough to let something the size of Thunderhawk go through and leads straight to Faerûn.
Scenario 1) There is no Warp presence on the other side and something nullifies most of the effects of the warp.
Scenario 2) A variant of the warp exists on the Faerûn side, but is much calmer and there are no equivalents to the various nasties that inhabit the 40k warp, yet, however, there is a sort of weak connection between the two.
